Lovers of Crysis, physics and red barrels, this one goes out especially for you. Because while everyone else was drooling over the game’s graphics and furrowing their brows at its system specs, you were probably imagining, like this guy, what it would be like to stack 3000 red barrels on top of each other then knock em all down. Just for, you know. Shits and giggles.
If you’ve never seen on in the flesh, a Pachislot machine is about what you’d imagine it to be from the name. It’s part-pachinko machine, part-slot machine (though mostly slot machine). Now, Kotaku tower officially says “NO” to mechanical games of chance, but we reserve the right to make exceptions. We always make exceptions. Especially to gambling machines put out by SNK that are Fatal Fury-themed from head to toe.

Remember these little guys? They crashed the castle of my heart, marched right in, rescued the princess, looted the joint then strolled right on out again. At first time of writing, they were a convention-only deal, which was sad. Now, though, they’re available from The Behemoth’s online store. Which should make you glad! If you’re the type of person who’ll buy merchandise from a game that’s not even out yet, that is. Which many of you undoubtedly are. [The Behemoth Store, via Dtoid]
Back in October, Insomniac’s Ryan Schneider made some lighthearted comments about Ratchet & Clank being Miyamoto’s inspiration for Mario Galaxy. We did a lighthearted post on it. Sadly, many Nintendo (and Insomniac) fans took it a little too seriously, and made a big hullabaloo out of the whole thing. Indeed, it was such a hullabaloo that when they got the chance to interview Miyamoto, the UK’s Official Nintendo Magazine decided to ask him whether or not he’d really based Galaxy’s spherical worlds on those found in Ratchet & Clank. His response? It’s not an idea we got from anywhere else. I’m sorry but I have to admit that I’ve never seen the game in question. Is it a PC game?
Ouch. Sorry, Ryan.
Neversoft have a post up on their site about a new patch for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock that just went live. The update includes the following changes:
* Improve Online Quick Match results and reduce “Failed to Connect to Server” messages. * Introduce calibration screen improvements, helping users with high lag AV systems, and Playstation 3 users with Dolby Digital enabled. * Add the Co-Op Quickplay mode for Playstation 3 users. * Enable the Hyperspeed cheat to work in online games. * Include various stability improvements and fixes.
Still no word, however, on GH3/Rock Band controller compatibility. Makes me sad.

It looks like High Impact Games’ portable take on the Ratchet & Clank series may be the latest PSP game to get a PlayStation 2 port. A listing for Ratchet & Clank Size Matters for the PS2 was uncovered by the eagle eyed staff at Joystiq today, one which points to the game shipping for the console February of next year. It’s listed at $US 29.99, ten dollars cheaper than the PSP original.
While we don’t have official word yet—we’re waiting to hear back from SCEA—it certainly wouldn’t surprise us to see yet another PSP game ported to the PS2. With one-time exclusive PSP titles such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Twisted Metal: Head On, Tokobot and (allegedly) Silent Hill Origins making the jump, it might just file under fiscally sensible.

It’s low-key in comparison to the last N-Gage’s launch, but hey, maybe that’s a good thing. Starting from next week, anyone who owns a Nokia N81 or N81 8GB will be getting access to the “pre-release” version of the new N-Gage platform, as well as at least one new game. Users with access to the service will then be encouraged to leave feedback on Nokia’s forums. Anyone with a Nokia phone who’s been left out, calm yourself, this is a beta by any other name, and you’ll be included in due time when the service launches for real. Tonight we feasted on month-old Playstation 3 cake. You should have seen the look on my son and his friend’s face when I told them, as them jammed frosting topped yellow cake past their teeth, that the cake was a month old and then laughed… heartily. Oh come one, it was frozen, like I would feed rotting cake to my son. The deal is that Sony sent the cake to my house while I was in Australia and the person watching our house signed for it and promptly placed the cake in the freezer. At least I hope it was promptly, I guess we’ll find out late tonight.
I had this sudden idea Wednesday night, in the midst of the Funde Razor event, that I should have brought the cake with me. Then I could have handed over that gi-normous Companion Cube to the winner and tell him, and the audience, that not only is the cake not a lie, it’s right here in my hands and features the image of a Playstation 3. Yep, that would have been grand.

Guitar Hero III fans itching for a hobbled together trio of new tunes are going to be thrilled as Activision announced today the next batch of downloadable tunes for Guitar Hero III will bring original recordings of “No More Sorrow” by Linkin Park, “Sleeping Giant” by Mastodon and “Pretty Handsome Awkward” by The Used. These three will be part of the cleverly and memorably named Warner/Reprise Track Pack and made available before the end of the year.
In addition to the three songs I’ve never heard of listed above, tracks from—according to the press release—popular European bands Extremoduro, Trust, and Die Fantastischen Vier will be available as single song downloads. Finally, holiday classic “We Three Kings”, as recorded by Steve Ouimette, will also hit sometime in December.
Nothin’ but the hits!

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Its too late for that!
Jade is cute. Many people are cute. Let’s move on.
Games are a hugely collabrative effort. If Jade is going to be pranced in front of the media (Cliffy B was too), then how about using her as a means to show how much of a collaborative effort it is. Other folks deserve attention too instead of just sticking one face (Miyamoto, Itagaki, Kojima, Perry, Schafer, Levine, the list goes on and on) out there as THE gamemaker.
