TGS Kotaku Party? Damn Skippy!

11:40PM Brian Ashcraft | To: Crecente From: Bashcraft RE: Con-ed Out In answer to your question: Yes, yes, good man, yes we should totally have a Tokyo Kotaku shindig! Our last get together in New York earlier this year was good fun, and it was a blast to meet readers, industry types and drunk hangers-on. Since we’ll be staying at a big fancy hotel in Shibuya, I imagine that we’ll want a bar near our hotel so we can stumble back drunk and pass out. Throwing up on the JR line is so embarrassing! That is ideal, but I’m not sure how realistic… I know a few places, but none in Shibuya that are big enough to handle a nerd gathering. So! Reader people who know Tokyo fairly well, feel free to chime in with possible place for us to get shitfaced at. Also, the Night Crew has morphed into the Labor Day Crew, so posts will be going up all day. Enjoy your day off! More »

360 Accessories Hit Europe September 7, 26

11:00PM Luke Plunkett | Europe, don’t worry. You weren’t forgotten about when Microsoft announced their American release dates for the 360’s new accessories range. They were just working out how much later you’d see them. Answer being: September 7. And 26. See, the IM chatpad will be released on the 7th, for £24.99. But the rest of the stuff? Being held back for the Halo 3 release. The Halo 3 wireless headset and themed controllers go on sale on September 26, the same day as the game’s release, and will both go for £34.99. Press release is after the click if you’re dying to hear the official word. More »

Uncharted Heroine Re-Made Into Conventional Beauty

9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Do blonds really have more fun? Developer Naughty Dog must think so. For its upcoming Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the team turn character Elena Fisher’s locks from a chestnut brown to a dishwater blond. Not only that, they chiseled her lantern jaw. Goodbye Jughead! And the rational? According to a spokesperson: They [Naughty Dog] just preferred her blond. Well! If Naughty Dog is in tweak mode, some please change the fact bullets and punches do the same amount of damage. Makes no sense!! New Hairdo [GamesRadar] More »

Google Maps Packs Hidden Flight Sim

9:00PM Luke Plunkett | Google Maps is pretty great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s lacking…something. Like interactivity. Interactivity like a free, hidden flight simulator. Wait. What’s that, internet? Such a thing exists? Wonderful. Google Map’s flight sim is accessible by running Google Maps then hitting Ctrl+Alt+A (or Command+Option+A for Mac users). Do that and you can choose between two planes (F-16 or SR22), then fly anywhere on Google Maps. Which is…anywhere. Good stuff! Now all we need is someone to work out a way you can hook this thing up for multiplayer and we’ll never have to pay for a game again. A Truly Horrible Concoction Of FPS And Erotic Game

8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Love Death 2 is first-person-shooter meets Japanese erotic game from developer TEATIME — not to be confused with the FPS meets hardcore porno. And what are players shooting in this erotic game? Well…it ain’t bullets! Eds Note: After the jump, there’s NSFW footage of the game’s FPS element. Hands down, this must be the effed up clip I’ve ever posted on Kotaku — and I’ve posted lots of effed up clips! You’ve been warned so watch this effed up clip at your own peril! No bitching and moaning. Well, there is moaning, but none from you please! More »

Many Many King’s Story Screens

7:00PM Luke Plunkett | Yesterday, all we had on Project O King’s Story was a handful of concept sketches and an armful of hopes and dreams. Today? Screenshots. Loads of screenshots. All from Famitsu, all featuring many small people and many blades of green, green grass. Looks cute. Like, Pikmin and Settlers got together and made puffy-cheeked babies kind of cute. 王様気分を満喫!! 『王様物語』[Famitsu] More »

World In Conflict LEGO Man Globe

6:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Just look at that. Do it! Kotakuite Jordie sends along this globe, writing: This globe of people is made in honour of World In Conflict’s open mulitplayer beta AND demo, and to all those infantry doods and the napalm they so hate. Rad. World in Conflict [Official Site] More »

PGR4, Mass Effect Dated For Australia

5:00PM Luke Plunkett | No holiday here in Australia. It’s business as usual. Usual business being receiving release dates for games that are slightly modified than those you’d expect elsewhere. Today, we got word that two of Microsoft’s big first-party releases for the year have got themselves antipodean dates: Project Gotham Racing 4 can be expected on October 11 (9 days later than the US), while Mass Effect is due on November 22 (2 days later than the US). Nine and Two days? Not too bad! More »

Even EA Is Making Creative Wii Games

4:00PM Brian Ashcraft | North American SEGA president Simon Jeffery knows a few things about creativity. Take SEGA’s combining Mario and Sonic in a game pegged to the Olympics. Talk about creative! And after Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games took best Wii game at Leipzig (congrats), Jeffery felt in the mood to sound off. Selected quotes include: There is no doubt that we will see more risks, and therefore more creativity on both the Wii and the DS in the next couple of years. Just look at what EA is already doing on the Wii — EA doesn’t usually do that kind of game… More »

Lair Playing On My PSP2K

11:00AM Brian Crecente | Here’s the video proof of Lair Remote Play for you non-believers out there. The major issue, as I mentioned before, is that you have no L2 or R2 buttons, so no braking in the game, which can make things a bit difficult at times, but the game is still very playable. I friggin love this. Lets hope this isn’t something Sony will be “fixing” anytime soon. More »
