New 360 Is Soft, Cuddly, Aimed At Children

Not the Arcade Pack. It’s aimed at kids, yes, but they can’t snuggle up to it and dream sweetly like they can with this. The work of kickass-peanut, and posted up over on her deviantART page, it’s entirely hand-stitched and has got eyes, a wired controller, memory card and even some sweet, sweet cheeks. I’m getting sleepy just looking at it. Nice work, peanut. Xbox 360 Plushie [kickass-peanut @ deviantART]

Even the Invisible Man Has Entered!

Ha! Now that’s just plain clever. Kotakuite Andrew writes:

I love that movie so I just had to do it.

And our day is better for it! What’s going on here? We’re giving away a copy of DS scary game Dementium: The Ward in our cosplay contest. But not just any old cosplay contest! Oh no. We’re doing a bandage cosplay contest. Meaning? If you have toilet paper, you can enter. If you have band-aids, you can enter. Just cover yourself in bandage, and you are good to go. YES, IT’S THAT SIMPLE. The deadline for the contest is October 24th. Send your entries to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom. And remember, you aren’t just playing for a DS game. Oh, no. You are playing for INTERNET FAME. Dementium [Official Site]

Blacksite Multiplayer Nuetered

Midway’s Blacksite: Area 51 just lost a bunch of multiplayer features. For starters, online co-op has been cut, so if you fancy some co-operative play but your mates aren’t sitting on the couch next to you, unlucky. Next up, the option to play either ranked or unranked matches, as well as a proximity-based voice chatter feature (mostly team-only, but get too close to an enemy and they can hear you) will feature on the 360, but definitely won’t on PS3, and maybe not the PC either. Swing that axe, Midway. Chop, chop, chop. BlackSite: Area 51 Multiplayer Hands-on [IGN]

Okami Wii “Exact PS2 Port”

So, the Wii is getting a straight up PS2 port with tacked on waggle, and that could be a really great thing or a really not-so great thing. Since Clover Studios is now kaput, studio Ready at Dawn will be handling the migration and even used Clover’s original code due to time constraints. Ready at Dawn president Didier Malenfant stressed how committed he and his team are to staying true to the original. Says Malenfant:

The game on Wii is going to be an exact port of the PS2 version and I think that’s what fans of the franchise want to see. This game has such a huge following throughout the world that people would probably send us death-threats if we messed it up by trying to add things that don’t have their place in the Okami universe. Being huge fans of the franchise ourselves, we made sure that Capcom also wanted to stay true to the original before signing on to do this… To this day the graphics of Okami are some of the most awe-inspiring ever seen in a video-game and I know it sounds cliche but you don’t want to fix something that’s not broken.

We’re not so concerned about Ready at Dawn’s ability to port Clover code — Ready at Dawn is a very competent studio. We’re worried about the controls. Malenfant assures that Okami and the Wii-mote are a “perfect combination” and feels “absolutely awesome.” That’s what they’re really selling here, playing Okami with the Wii-mote. Is that enough to ensure a purchase? Okami Port Interview [IGN via Siliconera]

MySpace Gets Online Gaming Service

MySpace just announced a deal with Oberon Media that’ll see a gaming channel created for the service. Called MySpace games, it’ll allow anyone with a MySpace page to add casual flash games to their site. For anyone who has a little sister or knows a struggling high school indie rock band still using the service, tell them the games channel should be arriving sometime in 2008. Xbox 360 Will Have 7 Million Sellers at Christmas

Microsoft is on a roll of sorts. Halo 3 is a smash hit, and Xbox 360 hardware sales have passed perenial fav the Nintendo Wii. But that’s now. What about Christmas? You know, then. Xbox 360 group product manager Aaron Greenberg is confident. How confident? This confident:

It’s the games that sell the systems and we feel pretty confident in our games lineup. Just this one holiday we anticipate that we’ll have at least seven titles that will each sell over a million units each. I don’t think any other platform will even come close to that, so having the big blockbuster games will definitely continue to help drive system sales for us… I think that we will continue to expand our lead over PLAYSTATION 3 and I think that we will continue to be very competitive relative to the Wii and I have no doubt that for total software sales, we’ll continue to lead the market overall.

See? Like I said, confident. Greenberg Interview [Next-Gen]

DualShock 2, Now Fully Wii Compatible

The Wii is all about motion control. To get all French, it’s the system’s raison d’etre. Which makes this product, allowing non-waggling Dualshocks to be used on the system, a strange one. Almost as strange as packaging that features a saucy Wii…fairy godmother, I think, and a PaRappa cosplayer riding a Dualshock controller cord like a witche’s broom. Almost.
