Got Advice on Being More Organised?

11:40PM Brian Ashcraft | To: Crecente From: Ashcraft RE: S of F That Solider of Fortune founder sounds like a bad ass. Cannot wait to read your feature. I’m trying to be more organised — like be more things down in a timely manner. I think I’m already well organised. (I have to be!) But, I really want to stretch every second out of the day to get the most done possible. I’ve been using a free software programs to help me schedule stuff and list things by priority, set deadlines, blah, blah, blah. And, yes, your favourite Google Calendar is also immensely helpful. Was wondering if you knew of anything else that helped with organization? Tips, tricks, programs, books, etc. If so, lemme know. British Sales Charts

11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Death, taxes and the British Isle’s undying love for the Football Manager series. Life’s three constants. And really, who can blame them – there was a while during the late 90s I was hooked on the thing, back when it was Champ Manager, and it nearly cost me everything I hold dear. You think Pokemon’s got crack-like tendencies, you know nothing until you get sucked into Football Manager. 1) Football Manager 2) FIFA 08 3) The Orange Box 4) Phantom Hourglass 5) Halo 3 6) PGR4 7) Ratatouille 8) Tiger Woods 08 9) Resistance 10) Crash of the Titans More »

Call Him Toilet Paper Head

11:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Holy mackeral!! WHAT IS THAT?! That, dear reader, is GeeQzilla’s entry. He writes: I thought to myself, if I unroll 24 rolls of TP on myself, and lose the contest, I have to buy the game AND more toilet paper. So I figured this way not only will I be one of a kind, but I’ll be able to actually use the stuff later too. Heh. Of course, 2 of them are half useless after I walked into my ceiling fan. Love it! Here’s what’s going on: We’re giving away a copy of DS scary game Dementium: The Ward in our cosplay contest. But not just any old cosplay contest! Oh no. We’re doing a bandage cosplay contest. Meaning? If you have toilet paper, you can enter. If you have band-aids, you can enter. Just cover yourself in bandage, and you are good to go. YES, IT’S THAT SIMPLE. The deadline for the contest is October 24th. Yes, today is the last day to enter! You have until midnight PST tonight! Send your entries to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom. And remember, you aren’t just playing for a DS game. Oh, no. You are playing for INTERNET FAME. Entries outside North America more than welcomed. Dementium [Official Site] More »

The Cutest Pikacar

10:40PM Brian Ashcraft | By no means is the first Pokémon car, and by no means is it the last. However, it is better than this one. Way better. It’s from one of the Pokémon Centers in Japan. There seems to be a whole fleet of them Pokécars. But those Pika-cheeks? Darling. Wheel covers? Fab. And those lights? Adore them. Pikamobile [OhayouwwwOmaerawwwwwwwww] More »

Animal Crossing Wii To Be An MMO?

10:20PM Luke Plunkett | Animal Crossing, the MMO? Would be a perfect fit philosophically for the Wii, if not technically. Edge magazine seem to think it’ll happen, its latest issue containing the following: A Japanese source has confirmed to Edge that the upcoming Wii iteration of Animal Crossing is set to be a social networking MMO. For the record, Edge normally aren’t the types to dip their toes in the rumour pool unless the water’s great. So, a social networking MMO? If true (and remember, the Wii’s current online capabilities are working against it), we’re down with that, so long as you’re indebted up to your eyeballs from the get-go and there’s plenty of fish in the river. Church of England *Finally* Forgives Sony

10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | After first getting pissed, demanding that Resistance be pulled from stores, asking Japan to join the fight, threatening a lawsuit and insisting that Resistance not be nominated for a British Academy Video Game Award, the Anglican Church has finally forgiven Sony. Keep in mind, this is after Sony apologised to the Church of England and the people of Manchester for using Manchester Cathedral without permission — something that Sony was legally able to do. The Dean of Manchester Cathedral, the Very Reverend Rogers Govender has this very snide comment: I think some important lessons have been learnt. So we do forgive Sony for what they have done, even though they still believe they have done nothing wrong. In an industry that is breaking new frontiers, it is important that long held traditions of film and television are maintained. These traditions include having courtesy, respecting the dignity of your subject, and admitting when mistakes have been made. In so many ways Sony have failed to live up to these standards by disrespecting people of faith and the victims of gun crime here in Manchester. Lessons learned? Like what, not accepting apologies and beating a dead horse? In an odd way, Manchester Cathedral even has benefited somewhat from the brouhaha, since visitors to Manchester Cathedral have increased. How EyeCreate Works

9:30PM Luke Plunkett | Here’s how Sony’s EyeCreate software actually works. Predictably clean interface, nice big buttons, handy pop-up instructions, even what looks like simple drop-in sound effects/music. You, too, can be creating awful promo videos in no time flat! Polyphony Digital Responsible for GT-R Dash Tech

9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | At the Tokyo Auto Show, Nissan honcho Carlos Ghosn unveiled the GT-R. The car, which hits the US next Spring, features a multifunction dash display that was developed in conjunction with Gran Turismo Polyphony Digital. The display can monitor oil pressure, oil temp, engine coolant temp, transmission oil pressure, turbocharger boost pressure, throttle position, torque split, steering angle and lateral G-froce. The Polyphony Digital display can also log data that helps improve driving technique and can help with fuel economy. In other Polyphony Digital news, the GT-R has already popped up on Gran Turismo Prologue. There’s more! Polyphony has also struck a deal with the BBC to offer episodes of car show Top Gear for download via Gran Turismo TV. Nice to see that the developer responsible for the “World’s Most Realistic Driving Simulator” isn’t kinda serious about cars, but DEAD SERIOUS about them. Warms the heart, don’t it? SFHD Screens Look Lovely

8:30PM Luke Plunkett | After the less-than-awesome reaction to the really-quite-shit first vid of the game, Capcom have posted a couple of screens for SSFIITHD (which we’re now officially just calling SFHD) over at the game’s developer blog. Screens they go out of their way to throw disclaimers on, saying that their screen-cap machine is broken, that they’re not indicative of the game’s final, full resolution, etc etc. I don’t know. They look pretty fantastic to me. Imagine they’ll look even better at the proper resolution, whenever Capcom get their do-hickey contraption working again. We Love Golf Dated and Priced

8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | We Love Golf, Capcom’s punny Wii golf title from developer Camelot, has been dated for Japan. That date is December 13th, and the title will retail for ¥6090 ($US 53). We got hands-on with the game at TGS and all agreed: The putting sucks. Really, really sucks. If Camelot fixed that, I might pick up this one. If not, forget it. Oh, and that up there? That’s the box art. We Love Golf Dated [Famitsu] More »
