Thanks for Frying My Brain Contestant Bastards

11:40PM Brian Ashcraft | To: Ian From: Ashcraft Welcome Ian! This is gonna be super short: I spent literally five or six hours today doing *just* contest stuff. It nearly killed me. My brain is mush. For those of you who think it’s hard to finish the contests, trying holding one. Today is the last day to enter. THANK GAWD. What you missed last night DMC4 more popular on PS3 Konami wants to know if you are interested in buying a PS3 White DualShock 3 hands on Lead designed or team designed? More »

MS Might Just Celebrate XBLA’s 2nd Bday With Something Great

11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Xbox Live Arcade’s got a big anniversary coming up. No, check, two big anniversaries. Next week will see the 100th game turn up on Xbox Live Arcade. It’ll also be the service’s two-year anniversary (since the 360 relaunch). How are Microsoft planning on celebrating? With cake, no doubt. And if you want to believe internet rumours (BRING SALT), with a true, proper sequel to the “biggest” game the service has seen. That’ll be Geometry Wars, then. Or Hexic. But probably Geometry Wars. Big surprise for XBLA next week [CVG] More »

Take Off Ayane’s Top and Skirt

11:00PM Brian Ashcraft | More shameful Dead or Alive toys! This round, we’ve got Ayane from the “Venus on the beach!” series of Kotobukiya figurines. The $US 74 Ayane comes with a halter top and a mini-skirt that are able to be removed. An Ayane you can undress! Underneath, there is your standard embarrassing Dead or Alive string bikini. A sorta, but not totally, NSFW pic of that after the jump. More »

Heroes Star So Excited About Dragon Ball Movie

10:40PM Brian Ashcraft | So against the wishes of humanity, the Dragon Ball Z movie pushes forward. While we’re less than thrilled, Heroes‘ actor James Kyson Lee is totally jazzed. While at the Pacific Media Expo in Los Angeles, Lee said that he’s auditioning for the role of Yamcha in Fox’s live-action Dragon Ball Z movie. He gives the DBZ script one big Goku-style kamehameha and says the movie should get a 2010 release. That means the Dragon Ball is safe! For now. How Your Wii Can Track Multiple Waggles

10:20PM Luke Plunkett | Why do we need all the crap Wii peripherals? They’re selling us loads of plastic that don’t actually do anything! It’s all so wrong. No, what we need is for someone with serious money to take Johnny Lee’s video here, package the LED array and reflective tape into a nice little commercial bundle, then sell it back to us. Bundle it with a screensaver, bundle it with a better Minority Report game (Wii-Crime?), doesn’t matter, it’ll make the cover of Time magazine. [via Joystiq] More »

Japanese Console Wars in Computer Font Art

10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Oooh! The Wii’s weekly sales are falling! If this continues, I can win. Over at the world’s largest internet forum 2channel, one poster has done a succinct job of summing up the console wars now that the Xbox 360’s weekly sales briefly passed the PS3s in Japan last week. No worries! This week will most likely be back to your regularly scheduled program with the Wii coming up in first place, the PS3 in second and the Xbox 360 in third. Forza Devs Could Take Over Project Gotham Series

9:30PM Luke Plunkett | Project Gotham Racing 4 is great. Sadly, with Bizarre now no longer able to work on the franchise, somebody’s gotta hop into their shoes, keep the dream alive. But who? Well, Microsoft aren’t short on options. Forza 2 devs Turn 10, well, they’re definitely an option, according to MGS boss Phil Spencer: We don’t have any clear set answer for how PGR5 might come to market yet, but we’re looking at a lot of different alternatives right now. Obviously Turn 10 is a strong team, and they’re really focused on Forza and it’s doing well so I wouldn’t want to distract them, but it is an option. Interesting. Interesting. Could you live without Forza if it meant PGR was still a hoot? We could. It’d be tough, but we’d find a way to soldier on. Game On – Part 1 [Develop] More »

Japan Only Getting Xbox 360 Assassin’s Creed This Year?

9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Assassin’s Creed may not have had the longest line at the Games Festa, but it did have one of the longest. According to a Microsoft booth companion, the wait to play the Xbox 360 version was one hour and forty minutes. If this line is any indication, the title should help move a few consoles for Microsoft in Japan. Keep in mind, this is for a 18+ CERO Z rated game! While Assassin’s Creed is cross platform in Japan, the Xbox 360 version is on the only with a solid Japanese release date so far. Assassin’s on the Xbox 360 is out in The Land of the Rising Sun on November 29th . (Meanwhile, the game is getting released on both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in North America this year.) As game Siliconera points out, Ubisoft’s decision might have something to do with how Xbox Japan has embraced CERO Z rated titles. Then again, this might be something else altogether. Who knows?! EA LA, Pandemic To Get All Cozy?

8:30PM Luke Plunkett | Lots of job-related shenanigans going down at EA right now. People moved, people sacked, it’s all happening. And might not be stopping any time in the near future. According to Develop Magazine, loads of industry types are speculating that, in a continuation of recent cost-cutting measures (which have seen facilities in the UK closed down but staff retained and moved elsewhere), EA will realise that EA LA and Pandemic’s offices are only a few blocks away and smoosh the two into the same building. Nothing official coming out of either EA or Pandemic on this matter, seeing as it’s two parts rumour, one part speculation, but if there was, we’d imagine it’d just be Pandemic, calling top bunk. More People Waiting For DMC4 on PS3 Than on Xbox 360

8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Just like at TGS, gamers lined up in droves for Devil May Cry 4. That is, for the PS3 version. The way ballparked between 60 and 80 minutes throughout the day. What about for Xbox 360 version? That line ballparked between 6 and 8 people throughout the day. Do people here even know it’s multiplat? More »
