Skate Or Die Coming Soon To Virtual Console

11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Least, it’s coming to the Australian Virtual Console. Sure it’ll follow elsewhere at the same time, though, so chin up. A classification for the game’s turned up on the Office of Film & Literature Classification’s database, which means a Virtual Console release isn’t too far off. Never played the NES version myself, as I had it on C64 (and blindly reckon its the best iteration of the lot), but hey, they all feature skating and they all feature Rodney, so there’s no real need to split hairs. Nintendo Churning Out 1.8 Million Wiis Per Month

10:20PM Luke Plunkett | In an interview with Next-Gen, Nintendo of America’s George Harrison was asked just how many Wiis we can expect to see on the shelf come Christmas time. Despite initially trying the old “well, we won’t meet demand” line, George eventually fesses up and dishes with the cold, hard numbers: I can’t give an exact number for November and December. We had to make our final decision on how much to produce each month for the holidays back in the summer. It takes about five months for us to increase the actual monthly rate of production. We’re at a rate now worldwide of about 1.8 million Wiis produced every month, and that’s going to sustain itself until we get on top of this. That’s a global figure, by the way. 1.8 million. Divide that up amongst North America, Europe, Japan and everywhere else, and you get…oh dear. INTERVIEW: Wii Triumphs in October [Next-Gen] More »

Three More Reasons To Hate Club Nintendo

9:30PM Luke Plunkett | Who hates Club Nintendo? WE DO. Ash excepted. Lucky sod. Why do we hate it with such a white-hot passion? Because, not being Japanese, we can’t get our clumsy Western hands on all their rad stuff. We’re jealous. And man enough to admit it. Example: this latest round of offerings for Japanese members. They can get a Mario desk calendar. Nifty! Or a sparkly, 2-disc Mario Galaxy soundtrack. Alluring! Best of all, though, is this official Wii-compatible SNES pad. Which is downright perfect. Or…would be, if we didn’t hate Club Nintendo so bad. [Club Nintendo, thanks Oliver!] More »

Ravenholm For Sale, Going Cheap

8:30PM Luke Plunkett | We know. We don’t go to Ravenholm anymore. Might have to reconsider that approach, seeing as a fair whack of its for sale at the moment, and it’s going as cheap as it can go. As in, free. Bloke by the name of Jarrin held a HL2-themed Halloween party, and decked it out with Ravenholm props: a heacrab rocket, saw blades, a “Beware of Dog” sign and some very smart looking HL2 ammo crates. Now that Halloween’s done, he’s getting rid of it. For free, to anyone in the Minneapolis area. Can’t argue with free, HL2 fans. “Ravenholm” props [Craigslist, via Rock, Paper, Shotgun] More »

Universe At War Demo Now Available

7:30PM Luke Plunkett | Interested in Universe At War? To be honest, we’d forgotten what it’s even about, the name’s so nondescript. So coated in generic-brand sauce. A good way to find out, we guess, would be to download the PC demo which has just turned up on FileShack. For 1.15GB you’ll get not just a tutorial, but the first two missions from one of the side’s campaigns as well. Awful generous of them. Universe at War: Earth Assault Demo [FileShack] More »

Yes, that means you can dogfight in an iDOLM@STER plane. Right there, that’s Bandai Namco making nerd dreams come true! Ace Combat 6 Planes [JAMZY, Thanks setuzoku!] More »

Ludacris Signs On For Gerard Butler’s “Game”

6:30PM Luke Plunkett | Quick introduction: Game is the name of an upcoming movie by Crank co-creators Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, as well as 300’s Gerard Butler. It’s about a futuristic MMO where players literally take control of real prisoners in a real prison. Got it? On with the Game-related news. Ludacris has just signed on to the project, and will be playing the role of the leader of a resistance movement aimed at toppling this “inhumane” pastime. I like Ludacris, not necessarily as an artist, he just seems like a good guy. He’s also a fairly good actor. Only downside is his resistance group is called…Humanz. Hrm. Hrrrmmm. No. Ludacris Added to the Impressive Cast of Gerard Butler’s Game [FirstShowing, via GSW More »

Uwe Boll To Feature In Postal 3

5:30PM Luke Plunkett | You know how Postal games feature loads of killing? And not just killing, but pointlessly graphic killing, with horrid implements and bodily fluids and all other kinds of undesirable things? Well Uwe Boll’s going to feature in Postal 3. As an in-game character. He’ll be shooting a “virtual movie”. It’s unknown whether you’ll be able to do awful, horrible things to him, but hey. It’s Postal. Don’t make me draw you a picture. Here’s The Hitman Poster That Pissed Off Philly

4:00PM Brian Ashcraft | With Philadelphia sensitive to violence after the death of a police officer, people complained about the Hitman movie posters, which started getting removed. The report claimed that the ads “show a man pointing a gun, with a nearly naked woman draped over him.” We couldn’t find that pic! Reader t3chDzyn did, writing: I pass about 20 of these everyday on the subway, this is the only one I could find that didn’t have a set of cock and balls drawn on the girl. Publicity like that, you just can’t buy. More »

Live In Perth? Buy Assassin’s Creed Right Now!

3:53PM Logan Booker | Is it a dream? Or worse, a lie? I don’t think so. According to tipster AJ Mitchell, Gametraders in Carillion Arcade, Perth are currently selling copies of the Ubisoft title. If you happen to live nearby, or even in the same state (that’s Western Australia, for the geographically-challenged), best get yourself there as quickly as humanly possible, before they sell out. I guess not everyone was affected by the stock shortage. More »
