I don't think I've ever actually used a "game rating" in any of the game reviews I've done where I work... I just don't quite see the point of them.

Ultimately, I think that game reviews suffer the problem of this:

Because games aren't very expensive, it doesn't matter if the game you're reviewing is reviewed as junk, people will still go out and buy it.

Sometimes just to see how junk it is.

And when you end up with a good review, people will buy that game anyway, too.

That said, I'm probably speaking a load of crap.
