My bank account is fairly drained from my recent move so I won’t be doing much game purchasing this week if any. But I know many of you out there have been anxiously awaiting NiGHTS and non next-gen adopting PS2 owners will get a chance to experience the awesomeness of Rock Band. I’m kind of curious to check out the Atari Classics Evolved for the PSP just to see what they did with them. Could be kind of interesting. So, is anyone going to be picking any of these up for their post-holiday game time?
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (WII) The long awaited sequel to the Sega Saturn classic arrives on the Wii.
Rock Band (PS2) The PS2 finally gets some Rock Band love in this slightly pared down version.

Things happen so quickly around here! You post a story about a woman needing a Wii and everyone jumps to help. Put up some images from the upcoming Resident Evil CGI movie and a couple hours later, you have a clip in your mailbox.
Kotakuite cody412 sends in a link to the above trailer that the photos from the last article were taken. Watch in horror as Resident Evil’s ubiquitous zombies make their way to a DVD player near you.
While Crecente and friends were throwing down in Denver to raise money for Child’s Play with their Funde Razor 07 party, the other half of Funde Razor was raging in NYC’s Barcade. Fortunately, the guys from Game Grump were there to document the occasion with some photos. From the looks of things, much rocking was done and a good time was had by all not to mention a little cuddle time with a massive Weighted Companion Cube. Man, that thing really gets around…
More pics after the jump.
Amid the sad news of Auran’s demise last week, the Age of the Chosen update for the company’s MMO Fury did go live as promised, and with it the all-access, free-to-play mode.
If you have yet to try Fury, I guess there’s really no reason not to now. The official Fury website has details on Age of the Chosen, as well as the new free play mode.
If somehow you managed to miss all the Auran-infused drama of the last seven days, here’s a recap:

Infinity Ward community relations director Robert “402″ Bowling has posted the details on the upcoming patch for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The list is quite extensive and includes the patch details as well as some other changes that he says there is no current ETA for. Any of the changes having to do with playlists will not be happening with the patch but “at some point in the near future.” He also notes that “The Playlist changes apply to both the 360 and the PS3 versions, but the PS3 will have different patch changes.”

Playstation Universe has gotten their hands on some images from the upcoming CGI Resident Evil movie. The story takes place seven years after the infamous Racoon City incident and features an all new storyline. Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy are on hand as the main characters, but can these computer creations out act live action RE star Milla Jovovitch? My vote is a resounding yes.

This week’s Escapist has an interesting little piece on the phenomenon of slimlining – something that Nintendo does with gleeful abandon, Sony has dabbled in, and Microsoft apparently doesn’t see the need for. I’ve never really seen the need to upgrade to the slim versions even when they’re offered – I do have one of the slim PS2s, since my original clunky PS2 was abandoned in Taipei, and I’d like a DS Lite, but the old one works fine …. In any case, it’s an interesting look at the cycles of slimlining and what it may herald for the future of consoles and handhelds:
What future slimlining of our current-generation consoles will signify, only time will tell. But paying attention to the changing shape of a game system provides consumers with a wealth of body language and an inside glance at the intentions and deliberations of the big companies. Slimlining is corporate psychology laid out on the consumer couch, cryptically conveying a truth the company fears to speak out loud. So keep an eye peeled for warning signs before parting with your hard-earned cash.
It’s a quick read, a trip down memory lane, and worth a look.

First of all, let me thank everyone for all their kind words and offers for help in this situation. At this point it has all been taken care of and it looks like the lady in question will be getting the Wii for her son as well as some games and maybe even some extra controllers.
The outpouring of emotion, support and goodwill towards this woman whom none of you have met is nothing short of amazing. It really gives me renewed faith not only in the gaming community, but in the world in general. I will be sure to give you all an update once the delivery has been made and hopefully I can even get some photos.
Once again, thank you one and all.
