Chris Bateman (of Only a Game) has a thought provoking article on his new, games only blog on whether or not a game has ever made you cry.
First we found a 78-year-old Japanese gamer, now there’s a 70-year-old Brit who is likewise an FPS enthusiast. He’s completed Call of Duty: World at War single-player at all difficulty levels. Gamezine has the interview.
Robert Duvall is a fine actor, and doesn’t need an uncredentialed drama lecture from me or anyone else. But watching him read off his lines in Godfather II … I’m not feeling it.
Yesterday’s patch release for GTA IV’s PC version brought new problems for some users, such as a stuck key/input issue that leaves your head spinning. For real. Rockstar’s suggested a fix.
Sorry for the unsavoury headline, but, uh, we’re pretty sure that’s what’s happening in the above picture. A zombie bat, flying around, covering heroine Sheva Alomar in…discharge. Maybe it’s a marinade. Who knows. Oh, anyone disappointed at the lack of focus on zombie dirt bike riders in the headline – or the post itself – hit the link for the gallery, you’ll find zombie dirt bike redemption inside.
And like that, someone already hit 80. A mere 27 hours after World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King launches, the game apparently already has its first level 80: a warlock named Nymh that plays on a French server. “In real life I’m 21 and currently employed,” says Nymh. “I took a few days of vacation for the release of the expansion.” Dude’s gonna need another vacation after this “vacation.”

This is the third and final time Microsoft is doing this, and the company is adding over 10,000 LIVE members. Invites are coming via email. According to Microsoft mouthpiece MajorNelson.com: “As before, we’re only pulling names from those that originally signed up (there is no way to sign up if you missed it, sorry) and this selection process will be at random from those that previously filled out the Connect Program Survey from my original post. Again, this is final wave. All Xbox LIVE members will be getting the New Xbox Experience via Xbox LIVE November 19th.”
The Nintendo copyright crackdown continues! The Kyoto Prefectural High Tech Crime Prevention Unit has arrested three individuals in Osaka Prefecture in connection with selling R4 style piracy devices. The R4 can be inserted in the DS Lite and has a small slot that the Micro SD card goes into. Data is stored on a Micro SD and downloaded via a flash drive. Not only did the police arrest Yasueda Okada, the 58 year-old president of the company selling R4-type devices, but also her adult son who is a suspect in the case. A third individual is in custody as well. All three have denied any wrongdoing. You know what they say, the family that sells R4 together, gets and arrested and goes to jail together.
“Wheh Ma Skull!”. Funny the first time you hear it, funny the next 17 times you hear it. Honestly, not only does this game look hilarious (bravo Swordfish for taking the low, tongue-in-cheek road on the concept), but it looks decent. Like Gears of War, with baseball caps. But with less Locust. And more punching in the stomach.
