4 Colour Rebellion Ripped Off

The kids at 4CR do some good, good work! Unlike us, who are paid in gold, jewels and exotic spices, they bust a gut for the Nintendo fanboys of the world for nothing. So we’re a little sad to hear that 4CR’s Mitch, who put together the awesome Nintendo Valentines Day cards we posted a few days ago, has had one of his earlier cards ripped off. All Saints, a “trendy” British fashion chain (and a big one at that), have nicked Mitch’s “You Complete Me” Tetris design, put it on a shirt and are selling said shirts for a whopping £40. Or, you know. EIGHTY BUCKS. Why eighty? It’s not like they had designers to pay. Zounds! We’ve Been Plagiarised! [4CR]

A New Snake For A New N-Gage

Nokia’s revamped N-Gage, now a multi-handset platform rather than standalone hardware, is trying to learn from its predecessor’s mistakes. Ditching the rubbish hardware was a good first step. Harking back to Nokia’s one shining triumph in the gaming world – Snake – might be another. This is Snake for the N-Gage, which is nothing like your granddaddy’s Snake. It’s got online leaderboards, a snazzy new colour scheme and reacts to the background music (though, criminally, not your own mp3s). Definitely looks like an improvement, but then…what was wrong with the old Snake? [via Pocket Gamer]

Back When PC Dating Sims Were Abstractly Sexy

Valentine’s Day isn’t over! There’s still time to make out with each other! Here’s what appears to be one of the first Western-made dating sims for the PC. Dubbed Don Juan, the retro game ran on early 80s British PC Oric 1. Tiny screenshot after the jump.

Street Fighter IV Arcade Footage [UPDATED]

Capcom are keeping a fairly tight leash on people snapping pics and vids on the AOU 2008 showroom floor, but that’s never stopped the internets before. The first shaky-phone-cam footage of the game’s made its way out of the show, and is now ready for your slack-jawed approval/hair-pulling disappointment. Ryu v Viper above, with loads more after the jump.

Apple Probably Not As Keen On Gaming As You Think

Think Apple are about to bet the farm on entering the console race? Maybe not. A “senior development source” has told British trade mag Develop that they’re doing nothing of the sort. Rather, the recent game-related trademarks that popped up are more likely to mean a bigger push on Apple’s part to bolster the iPod games market, which for all the device’s popularity can’t be performing as well as they’d have hoped. He also mentions the rather more obvious fact that Apple have spent a lot of time and money building their reputation on the consumer electronics side of things, and are not about to go blowing all that by entering a console market that’s already tough enough as it is. ‘iPod is Apple’s game gateway’ says insider [Develop]

Did You Win A Copy of Lost Odyssey?

Kotaku AU

Competitions are fantastic. Except, of course, when they end. That’s exactly what happened to our Lost Odyssey comp, which finished on February 13.

It took a while to go through all the comments we received during the week, and I apologise for not posting the results sooner. Honestly, my job would be so much easier if the calibre of entries wasn’t so high. So in the future, can you guys please just post poorly punctuated fanboy rants*?

(*This is a joke. Please keep the wit, humour and intelligence coming.)

Thanks once again to Microsoft for supplying us with the prizes. One copy would have been great, but MS came to us with five. Which, as you can imagine, was awesome.

So, which five readers had the best comments? Hit the jump to find out!

Okami Wii Still 4:3?

Oh dear. In a listing for the upcoming Wii port of Okami on their company store, Capcom have posted a bunch of screenshots (the button prompts show it is indeed the Wii version). Tiny, tiny screenshots. Which are very, very concerning. With extra content out of the question, there were only two things that would set the Wii version apart from the PS2 one: Wii Remote brush control and 16:9. These screens look 4:3. A 4:3 game in 2008? Disappointing. So let’s keep things optimistic and hope they’re a cropping error, or are from an early build, shall we? Okami Wii [Capcom Store, via Go Nintendo]
