Mario Kart Wii doesn’t have voice chat. But it’s got text chat at least, right? No. It doesn’t even have that. Nintendo of America have announced that the game will instead allow players to choose from a limited selection of automated statements/responses while playing the game. “Hello”, “I’m sad”, etc. I’d say welcome to 1996, Nintendo, but 1996 is still awaiting your arrival. Lots of people angry with Capcom’s move to rehash another Resident Evil game on the Wii. Well, you can cool your jets, you furious legion, because Capcom say the “new” Resident Evil 0 is destined only for Japan. If you’re outside of Japan and still interested, you can do what nobody did last time the game came around and just grab the GameCube version. In April 2007, we saw this Metal Gear Solid papercraft. It was adorable! Now, in February 2008, courtesy of Kotakuite Kai-Hung “Chilli Coke” Chuang, we get more of it. This is not adorable. It is mighty. How mighty? Dude’s only gone and made a 1:1 scale version of the papercraft. Another GameSpot Reviewer Leaves The CNet Mothership The GameSpot review pool has just become a bit shallower, as Jason Ocampo has announced that he too will be leaving the site for an unspecified “opportunity.” Ocampo broke the news in the latest edition of The Hotspot podcast, adding his name to the list of recently and dearly departed GameSpot review staff. Godspeed, Jason and thanks for the quick tip, Daniel.
Programming whiz Thomas Miller of Sony Computer Entertainment America wowed us with his technological alchemy earlier this month, whipping up a cool head tracking demo for the PlayStation 3. All that was required, at the time, was a PS3, a PlayStation Eye and a pair of glasses with infrared LEDs tacked on. Neat stuff. But at last week’s GDC, Sony was showing a version that simply required a face, no glasses required.
NIS America has made the domestic release of the PlayStation 3 entry in the awesome turn based strategy RPG series official, making summer rich with Prinny explosions. Disgaea 3 will confuse graphics whores with its last-gen visuals when it hits North American PS3s this August. There’s not much in the way of information from NIS about what English speakers can expect, nor is there any information on a European release, but we know of one Disgaea expert who may have answers for all your questions about the Japanese version inhabiting the comment section.
Konami recently revealed the official Japanese box art for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to overseas publications, but we’ve only seen it in standard scanned-in, postage stamp-sized form. That’s really annoying as Westerners, because we should have the option of super-sizing everything.
