PC game The Witcher is kinda saucy! It’s not a sex game, but a monster-slashing game — a monster-slashing game that allows players to have sex with hookers. Hello in-game nudity! According to Michal Kicinski, CEO of The Witcher developer CD Projekt:
A lot of people write off the Wii. Not SEGA boss Simon Jeffery. He is all about the Wii. No wonder, Sonic & Mario at the Olympic Games has done big business! Says Jeffery: I do think going forward there is very much a place for the hardcore gamers on the Wii and there’s a big opportunity for publishers to take advantage of that because we’ve seen the success of Resident Evil on Nintendo platforms… But I do also believe that a lot of Western publishers are only looking at the Wii for casual and family gaming, and I think that’s a mistake — I think there’s a lot more opportunity there on the Wii. The Wii isn’t just about Wii Tennis and Mario & Sonic; it’s about so much more. The Wii as a platform has way much more to offer than [Wii Tennis and Mario & Sonic] , and hardcore gamers traditionally love Nintendo as well. There’s no reason why they should be excluded or excommunicated from the Nintendo world.
Bwah? Nintendo world?! Excommunicated?! Wow, talk about being a Wii convert. This guy’s fanatical. Dismissing Wii Is Mistake [CVG][Pic]
Didn’t bother with one of these last week, because the sheer lack of content was just too depressing. This week’s little better: sure, there’s at least content, but it’s still fairly depressing. When the highlights are a graffiti theme and an expansion pack for fl0w, you know things aren’t as going as well as they should be.

British sci-fi institution Doctor Who for the PC, PS2 and the DS is coming confirms developer Eidos. Soon, too! According to an Eidos spokesperson: We haven’t announced a release date at the moment. It’s not too far away. We should be showing it to [press]quite soon… It’s for PS2, PC and DS…

Best way to celebrate not getting the Republican Party presidential nomination? Booze! Second best way? Gaming! After former Arkansas Gov. Mike Hukabee bowed out of the Republican presidential race, he and staffers retired to Little Rock where he unwound with Rock Band. His campaign team members gathered in Huckabee’s basement, ate lasagna and played Rock Band. As game site GamePolitics points out, this isn’t Huckabee’s first time shredding virtual, as he was spotted playing Guitar Hero last September. Wonder if he’ll get fat again… Prez Bid Knockout [GamePolitics][Pic]
French company Infogrames are Atari’s majority shareholder. Looks like they’re soon to be their only shareholder. A letter has arrived at Atari HQ from Infogrames, no doubt signed in a beautiful, flowing script by the company’s new Directeur Général Délégué, indicating their desire to buy any and all remaining Atari stocks for $US 1.68 per share. Atari don’t have to accept, but then again, they don’t exactly have the strongest of bargaining positions at the moment. Infogrames offers to buy Atari Inc. [GI.biz]
Yeah, we’re a little sick of the rumour merry-go-round on this one too, but it’s OK. This one’s not a rumour. It’s a patent application, and those are much more exciting! This application’s for a gaming phone, which Sony filed back in 2006. While it looks like a double-sided phone, it’s actually packing an iPhone-like full-screen touchscreen, allowing the device to emulate the interface of both a Sony Ericsson phone and a PSP. Course, this has never actually turned up, and in the iPhone’s wake probably never will, but sometimes it’s nice to just close your eyes and imagine what could have been, you know? Phil Harrison isn’t the only game exec to recently leave his former employee and end up elsewhere! Xbox India boss Mohit Anand oversaw the Xbox 360 launch there and was one the most recognizable faces in India’s quickly growing gaming industry. A few days earlier, he made the unexpected announcement that he would be leaving the company. Rumours swirled that he’d be heading up Nintendo’s effort to bring the Wii to India. If true, that’s pretty much make Anand the go-to-guy for launching stuff on the Indian subcontinent! Says Anand: There are rumours and speculations floating around for that as well, but all I will say is that right now I am not going to be making any formal announcements as to where I am headed. But whatever I do will be in the cusp of entertainment, convergence, youth, gaming. It’s all there.
I am not going to suddenly start selling rockets. Not that there’s anything wrong with selling rockets! But where exactly will Anand end up? Hey, bet Infograme’s keen on India! Mohit Anand Quits Microsoft India [Game Guru]
March 19? We don’t have to wait until March 19 for Sims 3 details. They’re all over the latest issue of Games For Windows, who let us in on some of the bigger, more important changes, like: The biggest change to The Sims 3 is that it takes place in a wide-open, constantly changing neighborhood — a much bigger sandbox, if you will, and a much more complex simulation. The town and park you see on the cover image to the right (click to enlarge) exist in the same seamless space as your Sims’ household, and what you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within.
Other changes come in the Sims’ reporting of their moods – the maddening individual meters are gone, replaced by “discrete moods”, which is supposed to stop the more obsessive-compulsive players from constantly worrying about pissing and eating and instead let them focus on the more enjoyable stuff. I’ve been keeping my eye on Spanish development team Tragnarion’s Doodle Hex ever since the art style caught my eye back in August of last year. It’s basically a puzzle game where players use the DS stylus to draw various runes on the screen, casting spells to disrupt their enemy, restore their health, or transform their opponents into something a bit less threatening. With over 200 runes to collect and trade, 14 different characters each with their own magical specialties, and Wi-Fi capability for two player battles, Doodle Hex sounds to me like a win, and now we know when it’s coming out. Pinnacle Software has announced the game will be hitting store shelves in June, when we’ll finally be able to tell if the gameplay is anywhere near as pretty as the pictures.
