Which Game Would You Unmake?
5:30PM Luke Plunkett | You’re all so quick to tell us which games you’d love to see made, but how about unmade? Huh? Yeeeaa-aaahhh. Not so easy. If you had the chance to go back in time and unmake one game, which would it be? Warhammer Online dev Paul Barnett’s asking the question over on his blog, and boy, it’s a doozey. Do you pick one for the shitty genre it spawned? For spoiling a franchise you once held dear? For plain old major suckage? Me, I’m going for Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (Shenmue, you came second by *this* much, with Wing Commander Arena coming in third). What game would you unmake? Fez Music Dude Makes Suda Remix!
5:00PM Brian Ashcraft | All around nice guy Jason DeGroot isn’t just one of the dudes responsible for Fez, he’s also responsible for other things! He’ll be adding his music stylings to the No More Heroes soundtrack in remix form. If you’re not familiar with DeGroot’s groovy retro music, check out the embedded link above. It’s truly fantastic stuff. If you’re not familiar with No More Heroes, well. More Than Fez [Jean Snow] More »
More On Machinarium
4:30PM Luke Plunkett | Loads of you seemed to dig Machinarium when we posted some stuff on it the other day, which is great. So here’s some more. Hope you like it. The story revolves around a cute little unnamed robot, who’s thrown out of his robot town, then has to stop an evil brotherhood from blowing up the leader of the town, all the while trying to rescue his girl-robot-friend. Gameplay-wise it’ll be a textbook point-and-clicker, same as Samorost, although developer Jakub Dvorský says it’ll be bigger and “much more complex”. Oh, and yes, like I said last time, those screens are real: the entire game, animation included, is hand-drawn (new screen above). Loads more info, like what inspired the game, how it’ll differ from Samorost and what else the Amanita Design team are up to, is at the link below. Second PS3 SingStar On The Way?
3:40PM Luke Plunkett | Guess the SingStore’s not as big a hit as Sony were hoping. That or they’re just accommodating PS3 owners without an internet connection, because a listing’s turned up on Aussie retail systems for “SingStar Vol. 2″, which is apparently due in June. SCE Australia couldn’t confirm the title’s existence, though a rep did tell us that it’s “feasible” SCEE’s London Studio are working on expanding the franchise via another disc-based update. If this does turn out to be the case, here’s hoping there’s some new content on there, and it’s not just a rehash of the PS2 versions. Or… if it is a rehash, that they at least throw Broken Wings in there. More »
Far Cry 2 Screens Show Killing, But Also Love
3:20PM Luke Plunkett | As you’d expect from a game that’s selling itself on its ability to set loads of things on fire, in these new screens for Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2, there’s fire. And explosions. Big, murderous explosions. But also love, as a mercenary tries to carry his wounded brother-in-arms to safety, from where he can gently tend to his wounds and slowly, every so slowly, nurse him back to health. 2:40PM Michael McWhertor | It’s been a while since we’ve had our hands on WipEout HD, but if we ever had a bad thought about it, I wish we could take them all back. It’s looking better and better every time the gang in Liverpool dishes out new media. A bit of a WipEout XL junkie back in the day, I simply cannot wait until this shows up on the PlayStation Store for a proper online race. The HD version at GameTrailers certainly does the whole more justice than the one above. Wipeout HD in HD [GameTrailers] More »
Yes, Guitar Hero: On Tour Is A DS Game
2:20PM Luke Plunkett | Was there ever any doubt Guitar Hero: On Tour was a DS version of the game? There was? Shouldn’t be now: Australia’s Office of Film & Literature Classification have just rated the game, and in the process blown its platform cover. It clearly says Guitar Hero: On Tour on the OFLC’s site, and it clearly says Nintendo DS, with the game earning itself a G rating earlier this week.
