11:40PM Brian Ashcraft | The PSP really seems to on a role of late, doesn’t it? Don’t fret! Sony says that’s not going to stop anytime soon. According to Sony marketing manager John Koller, later this year the PSP will see some “very unique” titles with a focus on “franchise umbrellas”. That’s not including Final Fantasy: Crisis Core and Secret Agent Clank. All hype and hot air? Or does Sony really have some “very unique” in store? PSP Games Coming [PC Advisor] More »

Hammer Comes Down On Xbox Live Cheaters

10:30PM Luke Plunkett | Last year, MIcrosoft’s Larry Hryb issued a stark warning to Xbox Live users in the wake of some issues with identity theft and achievement tampering. Today, Microsoft have taken action against those found to be in violation of the service’s code of conduct. A number of accounts have been “affected”, with punishments ranging from a resetting of gamerscore to public shamings (above) to permanent bannings to all of the above. Those caught, you have, oh, none of our sympathies. Those unaffected, nothing more to see here, move along. Gamerscore Correction [Microsoft] More »

Senior Citizen Claims Blu-ray Patent Infringement

8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | With HD DVD done and dusted, you’d think Sony would have time to chill out, max and relax. Nope! The U.S. government is investigating Sony and other companies that developed Blu-ray (Samsung, Sharp, Hitachi, Nokia, Panasonic, among others) for patent infringement. The investigation kicked off due to a compliant by senior citizen Gertrude Neumark Rothschild who claimed that Blu-ray infringed on one of her patents and will focus on “certain short-wavelength light emitting diodes, laser diodes, and products containing same”. Rothschild isn’t just some old lady, she’s some old lady who’s a Professor Emeritus at Columbia University and has done pivotal research into blue and violet LEDs. This could get interesting. Then again, it could get really, really boring. Who knows! Gov’t Investigating [GameSpot via Shack News Thanks, John!] [Pic] More »
