Why Was Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Download Borked?
11:40PM Brian Ashcraft | Hey Sony, what gives?! Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was supposed to be ready to download in Europe starting, uhhhhh, yesterday. But it wasn’t! Europeans who wanted to play it had to get off their arses and hoof it over to their neighbourhood game retailer and purchase the game on Blu-ray disc. Well, we wanna hear what went wrong. Tales Of Symphonia Wii Gets June Release
11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Here’s what we knew before, oh, just now. We knew Tales of Symphonia: Knights of Ratatosk was due for release in the “Spring” on the Wii. Least in Japan. We knew it’s also to be localised and released in the West, re-christened as “Dawn of the New World”. Now that it’s right now, well, we now know that the game will be released in Japan on June 26, so at the very least, you now also know not to expect it in English anytime before that. バンダイナムコ、Wii「テイルズ オブ シンフォニア -ラタトスクの騎士-」[Game Watch] More »
European Rock Band Launch Imminent?
10:30PM Luke Plunkett | MTV & Harmonix have been so quiet of late on European release dates/plans for Rock Band in Europe that many have – quite rightly – begun worrying whether it’d be appearing outside North America at all. This should calm you right down. It’s a promo site for the Stag & Dagger Music Festival that’ll be taking place in Shoreditch, East London for the first time on May 15. Ostensibly it’s a “proper” music festival, with over 100 bands, DJs, etc due to play over the course of the day. But look at the show’s sponsors. That big Rock Band logo, for one. And the Harmonix and 360 logos. And the MTV and EA logos elsewhere on the site. If (and going by this scant evidence that’s a BIG if!) this is some kind of pre-launch European Rock Band promo, it certainly ties into the April-June timeframe we first heard in January. [Stag & Dagger, thanks Luke!] More »
Phil Harrison, Crecente as Eggs
10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | The resemblance is uncanny. That’s Harjit M.’s entry, which is based on this photograph and this post. You know, that could double as a J Allard egg as well. Still, this so makes us want to do a bird shirt contest. Here’s what’s going on: Decorate an egg (yes, an actual egg), take a pic of it with a Kotaku sign and send it to kotakucontestATgmailDOTcom. Commentland will vote for its favourite finalist. We’ll kick this baby off right now, wrap it up on April 4th. Here’s the loot, plus the bonus signed Fallout 3 shirt. More »
Portal-Themed DS Is Case Of Wrong System, Right Idea
9:30PM Luke Plunkett | I know, we’re all done with Portal (so 2007), but bear with us. Just this one more time. For this custom DS case, which uses the fantastic Portal fan art of deviantART member McGibs and slips it under a clear DS case, for a custom handheld that’s as awesome as it is platform-inaccurate. Jump for the full-size version. More »
Behold! The Pokedress
9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | It’s dress time! We love dress time!! Here’s a Pokémon cami halter top one piece with a banded bottom. Thrilling, we know. For those unable to picture how this lovely dress would appear on a mannequin, hit the jump for that. More »
Read The Byron Review Yourself
8:30PM Luke Plunkett | As expected, much of the British press (and even isolated pockets of the British gaming press, who should know better) have been grossly misreporting the findings of Dr. Tanya Byron’s pleasantly reasonable review into how the internet and games are adversely affecting children. And if you can’t trust the media to get it right, who can you trust? Yourself, hopefully, so if you’d like to read the review sans alarmist mainstream media spin, the whole thing’s at the link below. A Clinical Look at Triggerheart Exelica
8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | This Triggerheart Exelica figurine looks pretty pedestrian, no? It’s just a $US 150, 26cm Exelica fig in her trademark armour. That’s it, nothing to see, move along! So not MAXIMUM RISKY material. Or wait. Is it? Yes, yes it is. Hit the jump to find out why. That is, unless you are offended by anatomically detailed, possibly NSFW plastic sculptures. You’ve been warned! More »
You Know You Want Official Devil May Cry Cardigans
7:30PM Luke Plunkett | The Devil May Cry series has been a lotta things, but masculine is not one of them. Something about all those exposed chests and red coats and wonderful haircuts. So it’s poignant that the official Devil May Cry range of menswear – due to be released in Japan next month – will forgo hoodies and caps in favour of gear including a couple of exquisite cardigans and leather-pocketed polo shirts. With tiny, elegant belts attached, of course. They’ll come in two styles (Dante and Nero), and at a price only the most fashion-conscious Capcom aficionado could bear to pay, with the polos priced at USD$75 and the cardigans at USD$105 (Nero) and USD$125 (Dante). Looks a lot, but for the convenience of having a belt on your shirt, it’s totally worth it. デビルメイクライ[Official DMC4 Clothing] More »
