GTA 4 The Niko Video
9:00PM Brian Crecente | With less than five days until their game hits, Rockstar couldn’t help but tease one more time with this vid of Niko getting all touchy, shooty in the rain. More »
What’s On GTA IV’s Soundtrack?
3:30PM Luke Plunkett | Anyone picking up the monster-box Special Edition of GTA IV next week will, for their troubles, be getting themselves a copy of the game’s soundtrack CD. Doesn’t matter whether you like what’s on it or not, you’re getting it regardless, but out of courtesy you may as well know (thanks, retailers) which songs have made the cut. More »
Are You Buying Xbox 360 or PS3 GTA IV?!
3:00PM Brian Ashcraft | So, yeah, it’s happening. Next week, Grand Theft Auto IV goes on sale in North America and Europe. Some people will buy it. Some people won’t. The TUD Giraffe is curious and wants to know. We’ve got a feature here on Kotaku called “Tell Us Dammit” or “TUD.” How it works: We ask a question, you answer it. Simple and no strings attached! This isn’t some marketing survey or whatever. It’s an emotional investment in you. Yes, we’re interesting in knowing you, Kotaku reader person. You probably know fucktons about us — more than you even want to, we’re sure. But, hey, we’d like to know about you. That way you won’t be some faceless blob — and we might feel a tinge of guilt when we ban your arse. Or not, because really we’re incapable of human emotion. Whichever! Today’s question is a two-parter: Questions: Are you going to buy GTA IV on the 29th? If so, are you buying the Xbox 360 or the PS3 version? Me? Since I live in Japan, I’ll be importing. Though, I still have decided which one I’m going to order… [Pic] More »
You Are A Tie, Not Guitar, Hero
2:30PM Luke Plunkett | Cute. Currently on sale at Zazzle, and taking the 80’s keyboard tie as inspiration, this Guitar Hero-themed neck tie is subtle enough that the bolder office workers amongst you may actually be able to pull it off. So long as you explain to your co-workers that horizontal patterns are all the rage in Milan this year. And don’t explain that you set a new Tie Hero high score this morning when you totally nailed a double windsor in less than 30 seconds. Phantom Lapboard Released, Reviewed (No, Really)
1:20PM Luke Plunkett | Well good for them. The Phantom lapboard, descendant of the vapour-ware Phantom “games console”, has actually gone on sale. It’s being reviewed by tech journos. It’s even being shipped to the public. Maximum PC got their hands on a unit, and their verdict is surprising. Surprising in that they think the keyboard “rocks”. But what about the mouse? Not so hot. It “leaves much to be desired”. Oh well. None of us were ever going to spend $140 on one anyways, so it’s all academic. First Look: The Phantom Lapboard [Maximum PC, via Giz] More »
Akihabara Arse Flasher Arrested!
1:00PM Brian Ashcraft | She came, see saw, she showed her rear. Several times. Last weekend, Arse Flasher Asuka Sawamoto mooned all of nerdom during a “performance” in Akihabara. The 30-year-old Sawamoto’s had several run-ins with the law, and earlier this week was was arrested for creating a public nuisance. Yes, this was actually NATIONAL NEWS in Japan! According to police reports, Sawamoto is 30 years old. So! Let this be a lesson to you all: Don’t flash your arse in Akihabara. Flashing your arse in Akihabara causes a public nuisance, kids. Portal 2’s Gonna Be A While
12:20PM Luke Plunkett | When Portal 2 was “announced” back in February, it probably got a lot of you all excited. Excited at the prospect of another go-around with your glowy orange and blue friends. Maybe so excited you thought the game would be coming soon. Did you forget who made Portal? Valve? No way in hell is this game coming soon. Valve’s Doug Lombardi: In typical Valve tradition, it won’t be Portal with different colours. I think that when you hit something like that, you have two choices: you can quickly replicate it and stick it out there – do the opportunistic thing and cash in on it; or you can do the crazy thing like we did after Half-Life was so successful and go off and try and say, ‘Okay, that was revolutionary, so its successor has to be equally as revolutionary. In other words, Christmas 2010. Valve: No new Portal this year [Eurogamer] More »
