When the gang at MTV Multiplayer sniffed around some Microsoft job listings earlier this week, confirming that the publisher was staffing up for one of the two Peter Jackon backed “entertainment experiences,” some concernedly stuttered “Bu-bu-but, what about Bungie?” Oh, they’re fine with it, informs the Bungie Weekly Update. Community man Frankie O’Connor says that “having worked with him already, we are possibly more excited than you are to see what someone of Peter Jackson’s imagination, talent and resources can bring to a Halo game experience.”
We’re eventually going to get to the point where someone recreates the Old Testament as Klingon musical theatre in Unreal Tournament 3, but until then, we’ll have to settle for custom characters and UT2D gameplay mods and user-generated content like this Super Mario Bros. style map. If only we could add mods to cancer research or something. The cure would be on the internet with a Creative Commons licence by the weekend.

Sony is sorry that the 2nd set of Eye of Judgment cards were subject to delay in North America, and to make up for it, they’re giving away three rare cards next Friday. The Eye of Judgment Set 2 Promo cards to be exact, a set of three special cards that form a big image when placed together. To get the cards, watch the Official PlayStation Blog next Friday, and be one of the first few hundred who registers with their mailing address for your chance to get your hands on these three rarities. I’ll be keeping an eye out myself, and I’ll be sure to let you guys know when sign ups start…once I’ve registered, of course.
Nerf enthusiast “Forsaken_angel24″, whom you may remember from his Gears Of War-style lancer Nerf gun mod, has decided to sell the aforementioned Gears Of War-style lancer Nerf gun mod on eBay. The winner of said auction will walk away with a one-of-a-kind Lancer, two modded quick reload clips and fifty “Stefans.” Those are the foam darts for those of us who know little of the Nerf modding community. Just think of the nerdy Nerfy fun you’ll have!
Forsaken_angel24 presents Nerf Lancer. Shoots 90+ feet. [eBay - thanks, Joe!]
Earlier this week I asked you, the Kotaku voting public, to pick which character would be gracing my arm come this Sunday’s appointment at my local purveyor of fine body art. You have spoken, and the winner by an overwhelming margin was Brian Crecente…who doesn’t count. Which it would be a great response to the companies at E3 who ask me where Brian is (“Right here on my arm!*), the odds of me one day getting angry at him and taking a flathead screwdriver to my arm are too great. In his stead I have chosen the runner-up, Fighter. The burly Yin to Black Mage’s delicate but deadly Yang, Fighter received 1269 votes to Crecente’s 1808, with the next closest being Red Mage with only 918. Come back Monday for a look at the finished product, and thank you for helping me decide what to have drawn on myself!
Oh, and special thanks to Qbix for that nightmare picture up there.
Next week’s downloadable content additions to Harmonix’s Rock Band have been announced on the official forums. They’ll go for the standard $US1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points, depending on your platform of choice, and will give you one more chance to see if you can vocally outperform Billy Corgan. It almost seems unfair to actually grade players on the singing portions of Smashing Pumpkins songs, doesn’t it? Anyway, the line-up is…
SCi, the parent company of Tomb Raider publisher Eidos, got a cash injection from its investment buddies at Warner Bros., the company announced today. The $US120 million bailout is good news for SCi, but not so much for Eidos, as 1UP writes today that “sources have informed 1UP that Eidos’s entire PR, marketing, and sales department has been laid off as part of the deal with Warner Bros.” Yikes! That must be the translation of SCi CEO Phil Rogers “I want more distribution muscle in North America” statement.
Eidos’ parent company announced earlier this year that it would be laying off 25% of its staff and killing fourteen projects, focusing on “cornerstone” titles like Tomb Raider, Hitman, Championship Manager and Deus Ex.

Sega Superstars Tennis 2? Hahahahaha! That’s a good one! With the game just five weeks old in North America, GameStop is already slashing prices on Sega and Sumo Digital’s Sonic-filled answer to Mario Tennis, with Sega Superstars Tennis bottoming out at $US19.99 for the Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. The Nintendo DS version? Just $US14.99.
If you’re in need of a GTA IV hype deflection shield or you’re now willing to bite at this price—even I am, despite my bitterness about a lack of Space Harrier or Cosmic Smash Guy—you can pick it up in-store or online as of right now.
