ScummVM, Now For Your Nintendo Wii

If you’re not interested in getting homebrew up and running on your Wii, fine. That’s your business. You’re probably not interested in knowing that ScummVM is now working for the system, either, nor in seeing a man play Full Throttle on his couch using a Wii Remote. Because that’s not awesome at all, is it? [via Savygamer]

Fatal Inertia’s Fatal Regrets

Koei’s Fatal Inertia has had a rough history: It started out as a PS3 exclusive, missed launch, became a default Xbox 360 exclusive and now is now being ported to the PS3 as Fatal Inertia EX as a PSN title. Ouch. Looking back at how things have panned out, lead designer Mike Bond says:

Yeah, the 360 demo didn’t run well and we really regret releasing it when we did… The final game performed substantially better but still often dropped frames… In FI EX, we’ve dramatically improved the frame-rate again and I think players will be pleasantly surprised… This combined with a significantly higher game speed makes for a much, much nicer experience.

Though, doubt it gets the bad taste out of Koei’s mouth. Still? A PSN title? Why not… Regrets [Eurogamer]

GAME’s Online Store Force-Bundling GTA IV [Update]

We haven’t (yet) heard of any bricks-n-mortar retailers force bundling GTA IV. Which is a good thing! Online retailers, however, are a different story. Anyone hoping to pick up a copy of the game’s standard edition from the website of European mega-retailer GAME will find they can’t. Not unless they also want a Sixaxis. Or a wireless 360 pad. Or a copy of…Devil May Cry 4. Because GAME’s online store will only sell you the standard edition if you buy it in one of their “fantastic GTA deals!!!”, the cheapest of which is £54.98 (USD$108, for GTA IV & Kane & Lynch) and most expensive being £329.99 (USD$650, for an Elite 360, GTA IV, PGR4 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2). You stay classy, GAME! Fantastic GTA Deals! [GAME, thanks David!]

UPDATEIndividual listings for the title have since been added to GAME’s site, however all are currently listed as “sold out”.

The Arcade Majong Public Shame Part II Electric Boogaloo

Thought it couldn’t get worst than NSFW mahjong moony man? It can’t. But this, this is pretty damn close. Here, a gentleman is standing and up and stretching in front of a mahjong game. Remember it’s okay to enjoy yourself in Japanese game centres, just don’t enjoy yourself in Japanese game centres.

Many thanks to Luke for his Pointing Fish skills! The unfished pic is in the link below and not as bad as you think — whatever that means! Still, it’s both a little NSFW and a lotta unsettling. Mahjong Game Undressing Number 2 [Hatimaki]

Queensland, Home To 40 Percent Of Australian Developers

Kotaku AU

A Courier Mail story, posted today, points out that at 48.5%, the Queensland has the highest percentage of game developers in the country and collects 40% of the industry’s earnings, or $55 million if you happen to like dollar signs. It’s all in the Australian Bureau of Statistics report we talked about not long ago.

The article includes comments from Steve Stamatiadis, creative director at Krome Studios, as to why the state is such a force in the Oz games industry. According to Stamatiadis, Queensland is not only a hotbed of talent, but has the educational facilities and history to back it up.

Stamatiadis also couldn’t help but mention that the Wii version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is being developed at Krome. He reckons it’s “a big honour and a huge marketing juggernaut”, two facts we couldn’t agree more with.

Let’s See How GTA IV Xbox 360 and PS3 Are Different

Frame rate issues aside, it’s really getting hard to tell. And with mutli-platform releases like GTA IV, that’s probably the point. Imagine that the differences we’ll start seeing is if and when some of the bigger PS3 titles get Xbox 360 ports. Even then, we surmise that they’ll just put the game on multiple discs. No biggie! Wii Fit Trams It Up

Kotaku AU

Tipster Luke sent us this shot of a Melbourne tram decorated with Wii Fit advertising. Not content with just sharing the pictures, Luke provided us with his perspective:

The irony of promoting a fitness product on a vehicle designed to minimise walking definitely put a smile on my face.

If you were walking down the street and saw this zoom by, would you point and laugh? I’d be too busy trying to catch my breath… you know, from all the outside movement.

Another shot after the jump.

Why Does Pikachu Look So Content?

I mean…I knew Pokemon bred. It’s a staple of the series. But, you know…I always thought it was Nintendo-style breeding, which just happens. Not real-style breeding, where…urgh. Full pic is after the jump, not because it’s NSFW, just because it’s NSF…brains.
