Finally, Designer Label Pac-Man Grenades

Artist Peter Gronquist’s currently holding an exhibition in LA, where he takes famous designer labels and associates them with weapons. Think a Chanel RPG, Gucci AK-47, etc, and you’re on the right track. One of his exhibits are these delightful, golden Pac-Man grenades. I’ve no idea which label they’re meant to be, but at $US 350 a pop, the more affluent amongst you could do a lot worse if you were in the market for an expensive executive paperweight.

Xbox 360 Getting Sex Scene-Less Erotic Game

Once again proving that the Xbox 360 is the console for discerning consumers, 3D computer erotic game TimeLeap [NSFW]is getting an Xbox 360 version. In a newly released TimeLeap visual guidebook, the game’s producer confirmed that an Xbox 360 version is planned this year. Interesting as the erotic game tried to capitalize on the popularity of another Xbox 360 title, Namco Bandai’s THE iDOLM@STER. For the Xbox 360 version, the hardcore stuff will definitely get the boot, leaving… Well… MAXIMUM RISKY? No, minimum risky.

The Ultimate In Horseriding Simulation

Got $US 10,000 handy? Love horse-riding? Hate horses? Well is this the deal for you. This is the Ridemaster, perhaps the most overblown horse-riding adventure we’ve seen this side of Barbie Horse Adventures. For your 10gs you get a fake horse (which is full of sensors, so you can kick it for being stubborn) and a TV display, but sadly, no jodpers. You’ll have to get those on your own. Vid’s after the link, for anyone who enjoyed watching Flynn ride a witch’s broomstick and wants to see it taken to the next level.

“Online Will Be Xbox 360 Breakthrough for Japan”

Japan loves many things. For example, Louis Vuitton. Japan loves Louis Vuitton. iPods, Japan loves iPods. Japan does not love the Xbox 360. What does Bill Gates think about that? While visiting Japan, Microsoft founder Bill Gates did offer this: Product share varies from country to country. In the US and the UK, the share [of Xbox 360]is high, but besides Japan, there are other areas we haven’t penetrated. From now on, I think the breakthrough’s going to be the online service, and you’ll be surprised if you look at that.

You know something else that’s surprising? The weekly Japanese sales figures. Bill Gates Talks Online [Mainichi Thanks, Ben!][Pic]

EA Sports Making Wii Fit For Bored Women

Wii Fit’s a guaranteed hit. In no way will it not sell millions of copies. So competitors (or imitators, if you’re not feeling so kind) are bound to spring up. First off the bat? EA, of course, with EA Sports’ boss Peter Moore identifying a gap in the market Wii Fit may not be addressing: bored women.

Gundam Looks Nice In A Pink Plastic Dress

Needs more pink! Some Japanese lady thought a MG Gyan Gundam figure wasn’t girly enough, so she was “inspired” to give it a more “feminine air.” The customised model has been covered with faux jewels, and the plastic surface has been treated and lacquered. The attention to detail is astounding (like on the dress, for example), sure, we’re just enthralled with GLOWING SWORD. MG Gyan For Sale [Yahoo! Auctions via Sankaku Complex via Giapet]

NVIDIA Boss Weeps For PC Piracy

NVIDIA’s Roy Taylor is not, as you can probably hazard a guess, a fan of piracy in the PC games market. So much so that, while speaking with Eurogamer, he’s made an impassioned plea, employing the language of the youth of today in order to get his point across: I think that we’ve arrived at a point now where I don’t know how anyone could ever possibly justify pirating a game. I just don’t know how anyone could consider that a cool thing to do – it’s not. It sucks.

It’s not “regrettable”. It’s not “unfortunate”. It sucks! The point of this spiel? To advocate a tightening of authentication measures, of course, such as those being employed by the upcoming Mass Effect port, as well as the idea of games being sold as a “basic service”, with all future content, patches, etc, being made available only to those with authentic copies of a game.

British Ad Yanked Because It Fibbed About PS3 Backwards-Compatability

Hrm, thought we’d seen the last of this topic. Seems a British TV commercial for PC World has been taken off the air by the Advertising Standards Authority. Why? It contained “misleading” information about the PS3, claiming the 60GB unit “plays your PS2 games as well”, even though it, well, does not. It plays most of them, yes, but not all. I’m sure they meant to say “plays most of your PS2 games as well”, but hey, maybe they were paying by the word.

GAME Upgrading MGS4 Preorders To Limited Edition?

Kotaku AU

EBGames may have the scoop on Limited Editions of Metal Gear Solid 4 but that hasn’t stop GAME from sneaking copies in under the radar. Or above the radar. Well, we didn’t know about it until now anyway.

Tipster Clancy recently sent us this tidbit:

Just got a call today from GAME offering to upgrade my Metal Gear Solid pre order to a Limited Edition. Apparently they managed to source some. They hadn’t run out when I went past at about 5pm, but they said it was apparently “really limited”. So heads up I guess if you missed out on getting one from EB.

Note that this email came in a few days ago.

I’d love to call GAME to confirm, but a recent trip to the dentist has left me, well, unable to speak good. So if you hear anything else, let us know!

Siren: New Translation Gets Translated

Upcoming, PS3 creepy game Siren: New Translation has the “New Translation” subtitle for Japan. But what about for the UK? It’s different! The game is being re-titled Sire: Blood Curse. New Translation or Blood Curse? Hrm. Hello pedestrian localisation! No word whether the game is getting a US release or an equally dull subtitle. Blood Curse Getting UK Release [IGN via Dtoid]
