The Tokyo Game Show has announced its official poster and slogan. The poster (pictured) features sayings in various languages. The English ones are “Go for it!”, “Fantastic!!” and “Here’s a break!” Pretty sure I’ve never said “Here’s a break!” in my life. Like ever. The official slogan doesn’t get much better. It is:
Saa, ikou! GAME no jikan desu. (Let’s go! It’s GAME time.)
So profound. Makes “Here’s a break!” sound like utter drivel. TGS runs October 9th to the 12th with the first two days being business days. Over 170 companies will be participating and organizers expect 180,000 total attendees.

This week’s Famitsu has a look at the Nintendo published surivival horror Zero ~Tsukihami no Kamen~ AKA Fatal Frame IV. The Wii game is being directed by Tecmo’s Makoto Shibata and Grasshopper’s Goichi Suda. While Shibata worked on the previous Fatal Frame games, Suda was roped in to work on Fatal Frame IV. Hit the jump for another look at the game.
We saw proof eariler that Liberty City may have a mutant problem. However, it looks like San Andreas was GTA‘s Tasmania* a few years before it. If you check out the above picture (larger version after the jump) you’ll see the middle gang member has at some point sprouted a fifth finger. That, or he has the world’s most awesome thumb.
The photo here was taken from a poster reader Grant picked up during his time at EB Games. Thanks man!
UPDATE: Here’s the full image for comparison.
* Sorry to Tassie. It’s a great place, lots of trees.
North America, Japan, this doesn’t apply to you. But Europe? Pay attention. Sony have provided the first real details on their Gran Turismo/Nissan academy program. Which, to recap, is a GT5: Prologue competition, where the fastest online racers are not only given the chance to race a real 350Z around the Eiger Nordwand, but the fastest drivers from that are given a shot at racing in a 24-hour race in Dubai next year. For real. The competition will kick off on June 2, and will run for seven weeks. So long as you register your PSN ID and can log a time during those seven weeks, you’ll be in with a shot.
According to Japanese Nintendo-centric blog Rambling Man, the company’s upcoming release schedule looks something like this:
July 10 DS Densetsu no Starfi Taiketsu! ¥4,800 July 24 Wii Wario Land Shake ¥5,800 July 31 Wii Rei Gesshoku no Kamen ¥6,800 July 31 DS Rhythm Tengoku Gold ¥3,800 August 7 DS Fire Emblem DS ¥4,800 August 22 DS Inazuma Eleven ¥4,800
Details on the site are scant, but the titles are definitely something to get excited about. But remember kids, just because something appears on a Japanese blog, doesn’t mean it’s real. Just means, it’s in Japanese!
Eds Note: Rhythm Tengoku Gold has been confirmed as real by the Nintendo Japanese site. Thanks, 刘治家! The new issue of Famitsu confirms the other games as well. Nintendo of Europe today has confirmed Wario Land as well. Hooray!

Oh noes! Upcoming XBLA/PSN title Bionic Commando: Rearmed won’t be making its original May drop date. The GRIN developed Capcom published game has run into some “problems in the closing stages.” The game is finished, however, and the mock communicator says the team is “battling with bugs and submission procedures.” We assume this means a winter release? Because, yeah, winter comes after May. If not, that would mean a spring release! The full mock communicator message reads:
Never mind the drugs and booze, rocker Slash thinks games make folks lazy! According to Slash, games do “promote this sort of lethargy in kids.” But does that mean he’s against video games? Not at all! According to the guitarist:
A lot of people have been asking ‘Is this [gaming]the new wave of how people are going to be exposed to music?’ I though that was sort of like a joke question when I first heard it, but I’m starting to realise that, given the current state of the music business, it might be. Because the kids are into it, and the possibilities are endless in terms of what you can expose them to through this medium.
Rock, Slash, Rock.
