Do you own Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Has it given you a little trouble?
We’ve had emails come in from more than a few disgruntled readers, reporting the problems they’ve encountered with SSBB. The issues appear identical to those that popped up during the game’s international debut.
If your copy of SSBB is acting up, drop us a comment describing your situation. Hopefully we can get some attention from Nintendo Australia, and perhaps coax a response from the media-shy organisation.

My brawl works fine, with no lagging or glitches, but when it is reading the disc it makes ‘printer-like’ noises. This noise never happens with any other wii game, but other than that the game is great.

for problems reading brawl nintendo is saying due to the game being a dule layer dvd a dirty lense may cause it not to be read, there offering a free cleaning. tho they also say if you have a chip like wiikey tho the update checks for it and wont let u play it, the only way to fix that is to update the firware i dono how u can do that.
ps if u do have a wiikey or chip dont sent it for the free cleaning cozz they will check and bust u with the chip.

This is rubbish… I borried my gf’s Wii and went out and bought SSBB for full retail from EB and guess what “Can’t Read Disc” error comes up. Haven’t been able to access it yet. What do I do? I can’t really send the wii back to repair as its not mine! Will a disc cleaner help?
I have tried to load the game multiple times, done a full firmware upgrade restarted the console etc… disc does not read.

Everytime i try to use sonic my wii completely crashes… the screen is frozen and just makes this really annoying high pitch buzzing sound, the remote doesn’t respond and it was once stuck on vibrate. Also loading times are annoying, once it crashed at the loading screen and also the wii makes scary noises when it’s reading the disk.
Just rang up nintendo, gonna send me a postbag so i can send my wii and ssbs to them to repair. Hopefully it will be fine.

Well to actually get the game to work i have to pretty much have sex with it, pull disc out, put disc in, pull disc out, put disc in, etc. So i end up spending the same time trying to get it to work as i do playing it, but apparently nintendos gonna fix it up for me once i send my wii off.

This is literally the WORST online gaming experience I’ve ever had. Sucks, because otherwise it’s one of the greatest games ever made. So far I haven’t played a single brawl that hasn’t been slower than a 90 year old. It makes it impossible to play, especially if you’re up against someone who’s clearly not experiencing the ridiculous lag. I have a good connection, and it’s very close to my Wii. If damned Activision (Guitar Hero) can get it more right than Nintendo then I think there’s something up. Especially as GH’s online sucked…

My SSBB played fine for months. I got it on the release date and now — suddenly — It won’t read the disk. I had experienced this in the past, but what I did to make it work was take the Brawl disc out, put another game in, one not on a dual layer disc, have it load up just fine,. eject it, the forcibly insert Brawl back into the Wii, and it would load. It’s rather sad that I can tell from the first three clicking sounds the system makes whether or not the game is going to load.

Disc Won’t load
Report PermalinkI took an hour off work to take my legally blind son back to the retailer, as we thought this was a dud disc- no joy.
As consumer I would like to know that there is a potential problem, Retailers should also be made aware.
BTW he plays on a BIG screen & stands close:)

Very disappointed.
The game is unable to be read by the very console it was made for.
I’m not sending my wii away for 5 days to be ‘repaired’ so I can play one game. I’d rather keep my wii and return the game or just wait until some update is available so that it works.
What I don’t get, from reading other people’s comments, is how the disc works for some and not for others. My Wii console was bought this year in April.
You’re losing points here Nintendo.

My copy of SSBB simply WILL NOT load snake. Whether if I select him on ANY character selection screen, or if I’m facing him in Classic or All Star mode, as soon as he is brought up the screen will say “The disk could not be read. Please check your Wii Operations Manual…” (Ocasionally, this message will appear at a random time…). I’ve already sent my Wii and my copy of SSBB to Nintendo once to be fixed! Does anyone know what I should do now?
