Cannabalism, Slavery and Sex in Fallout 3

11:20PM Brian Crecente | Fallout 3 maybe the game I am most excited about going into this E3. I say maybe, because there are some other titles up there that have me pretty psyched (Left 4 Dead). But Fallout 3 for me is a wonderous mix of nostalgia and clever game design. I can’t talk about what I saw yet while playing through a chunk of the game last month, but the Bethesda folks took the time to throw together a massive fan-driven 25 question and answer post. In it they touch on everything from child killing and drug addiction to AI and dialoguetrees. Here’s my favourite question. Hit the jump for one on the AI and two more screens. Make sure you check out the full post if you’re interested in the game. More »

Balance Board Skateboard Add-on, Bwah?

10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | As posted earlier, Kotaku’s own Mike “Michael” McWhertor was impressed with Skate It’s straight forward incorporation of the Wii Balance Board. But for some, maybe just the regular Wii Balance Board isn’t enough to get them in the mood for skating. Maybe they want something to sexy the board up. You know, like some sort of snap-on peripheral. Nothing’s been announced by EA, but rumours persist Skate It will ship with something like that. When asked if such Balance Board peripheral exists, EA replied: That’s something I haven’t heard. So… Our focus is just working with what is provided by Nintendo. So there’s not an extra piece. You know, it’s really about working with the Balance Board. So if you have one, this is another game you can play with it. It’s not about fitness, it’s about skateboarding and having fun. There’s a video after the jump. Watch it if you like. More »

Nintendo, SEGA, Ubisoft, EA All Back PEGI Over BBFC

9:30PM Brian Ashcraft | After the Bryon Review suggested a new system requiring games that would normally receive a 12+ Pan European Game Information (PEGI) rating be subjected to review by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), publishers like EA started to worry about even longer UK game release delays. Both the BBFC and PEGI are trying to carve out control in a UK game ratings power scramble. Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association head Paul Jackson explains why PEGI is superior to the BBFC: More »

2.41 Firmware Brings New PS3 Platinum Trophy

9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | The 2.41 firmware update fix is out, and yes, people are downloading it. As reader Dan points out, cosmetic changes between 2.40 and 2.41 seem few and far between so far. Tthe Platinum Trophy icon on the trophies page has gotta a lovely makeover. It was previously a crown (as seen on this post) and now it’s very nice. Hit the jump for a closer look. More »

Relax, Codemasters’ F1 Game Is A Sim

8:30PM Luke Plunkett | Despite the fact the last few Sony F1 games were fairly forgettable, some people are worried now that Codemasters hold the Formula 1 licence. Worried they’ll make a forgettable game. Worried that, being Codemasters – the team behind Grid and Dirt – their F1 game will be some kind of arcade racer. Well it won’t! Responding to such fears on the official boards, the official response from Codies is: GRID and DiRT are aimed at an arcade audience and they do that very well. F1 has different requirements and will get a completely different treatment from our in-house team, including full on sim options, physics, rules and regs etc. We will also have arcade requirements catered for as well. How this will be split we do not know yet, but split it will be. No word on whether they’ll also include team spying and nazi sex dungeons, but we can only hope. This is the End of F-1 game! Epic STILL Not Interested In Making Wii Games

8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Lots of people have the Nintendo Wii. For example, I have a Nintendo Wii and, yes, maybe you do too! With such a high install base, making Wii games would seem like a valuable part of any developer’s arsenal. Not Epic’s, no sir-ey. The developer has stated in the past that it has no intentions of making Wii games, and Epic honcho Mark Rein still is sticking with his nothanks.jpg for Wii development: More »

New Tales DS Footage

7:30PM Luke Plunkett | Announced earlier this week, here’s some footage of the latest Tales game for the DS, Tales of Hearts. Glad they went to the trouble of including some CG stuff for a DS game. Also glad they’ve gone to a lot of trouble for the rest of the graphics, because for a 3D game on the DS, this is looking nice. [via Go Nintendo] More »
