Gundam Musou Is Back For More Gundam Musou

That Koei/Bandai marketing wet dream Gundam Musou (think Dynasty Warriors with Gundam) is back. Gundam Musou 2 has been announced for PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360. The game will be out December 4th in Japan and will feature new mechas, like mobile armours, on the roser — Char’s Counterattack is getting added as well!

Help (Not Really) Pick Resistance 2′s Cover

If you work at a publisher, box art can be such a tricky, subjective thing. You can love it, but if the fans hate it, then you’ve got a conundrum on your hands. Easiest way to avoid that sticky situation? Throw up three alternate covers and let the fans choose! No, wait. There’s an even better way. Especially if you’re working on Resistance 2. You throw up two absolutely awful, dummy covers for the game’s collectors edition, put them next to the actual cover (ie the one on the right, ie the one that took longer than three minutes to throw together) for the collectors edition, let the fans vote for the actual cover and then start with the high-fiving as your community involvement quotas for the month aren’t just hit, they’re exceeded! Embiggened versions after the jump.

Rumour: Next Dual Touch DS Hitting Early Next Year?

According to several industry sources outside of Nintendo, the company is working on an updated Nintendo DS. The screens are supposedly slightly bigger, but the biggest change is that the new DS will apparently have two touch screens — so it’s like a dual touch DS. That way, players can interact via the stylus with game play on both screens. Here’s the kicker: Word has it that this announcement, if true, won’t hit until early next year.

Makes sense for Nintendo as the company stated at E3 that it didn’t have any more announcements this year. Though does it make sense for anyone who buys a DS during the holidays? No, no it doesn’t.

Sierra (?) Bringing Back Red Baron (!?!)

Hmmm. I first see this news, I get excited. After all, Red Baron – despite being 18 years old – is still the best damn World War 1 game around. But then I start asking myself questions. Like, aren’t Sierra dead? Wasn’t the whole point of the original Red Baron the fact is was steeped in historical accuracy? Why is this now an arcade shooter for the PlayStation Network where 17 bullets cause a battleship to explode?

UK Tracked Vehicle Company Using Lionhead Logo?

Kotaku AU

Can’t afford your own logo, or can’t think of one awesome enough? Why not just take someone else’s? Reader Grant noticed that a UK tracked vehicle company, called IJ Access, has lifted Lionhead Studios’ emblem for use on its site. If you look above, you’ll see the IJ Access logo is on the left, LHS’ is on the right.

Now, I thought at first it might just be a coincidence… until I found a newer version of the site. If you visit the original page, Galaxylift.co.uk, the logo is out in force. However, if you jump to Lionlift.co.uk, which is almost identical, the logo has been scrubbed from the page header and the crane in the picture as well! Very naughty.

In case it all disappears, I’ve included screen caps of both sites after the jump.

Australia & NZ Get SIX Exclusive Saints Row 2 Collector’s Editions

Kotaku AU

Six. Or 6, if you prefer numerals. THQ plans to release six CEs, two for each platform. Which platforms? The PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 of course.

While the main CEs will be available at most retailers, the “Initiation” packs are exclusive to EB Games. The release says these are “extremely limited”, and are contained in a pizza box from an in-game fast food chained called “Freckle Bitches”. Neat.

Prices range from $110 (PC CE) to $150 (PS3 and 360 Initiation packs). All the details, including bigger pictures, can be found after the jump.

‘Abolutely No Final Fantasy Xbox 360 For Japan’

An issue of Dengeki PlayStation that goes on sale August 29th in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII director and writer Motomu Toriyama and FFXIII Versus director Tetsuya Nomura talk about the possibility of Japan getting a Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 version. Nomura says that he himself was “surprised” at the FFXIII Xbox 360 Asia version news, saying that Microsoft’s comment (“It would be nice if the game came out”) was taken to mean that it was actually confirmed for Asia. More interesting than that clusterfuck is Toriyama’s comment about whether or not Final Fantasy XIII will be released in Japan on the Xbox 360 platform:

The $US 100,000 Madden Bet

Once was a day rappers could settle their fueds with bullets. That or lyrics. But that would be asking a little too much of Bow Wow & The Game, who are instead settling their beef (prompted by The Game’s boast he was the world’s best Madden player) via a game of…Madden 09. A game of Madden 09 which will be thrown straight up on YouTube, and which will see the loser donate $US 100,000 to the winner’s charity of choice. Charity? Good deeds? This rap game’s changed, yo.

Two Gaming Masterpieces: Ico And Shadow of The Colossus

Movie director Guillermo del Toro says he’s a gamer. No, really. While other Hollywood types fake their way through (see Don Cheadle), Hobbit director Guillermo actually sounds like he does play video games and likes them. Just listen to him rattle off what he’s into:

I absolutely loved BioShock. I loved the world, the design, the lighting, the beautiful art direction and cinematography. I’m a fan of Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. I love them all. The first Silent Hill was so beautiful, almost like a Lynch, Polanski or Romero type of horror experience…

I love the engine of GTA IV. I’m not a big fan of the actual game: I’m not into break-ins or running people over, but the engine is incredibly beautiful, and the sandbox is very complete. The same goes for Medal of Honour Airborne, Call of Duty 4 or Army of Two. There are only two games I consider masterpieces: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus… I have a 12-year-old daughter and we play together, but unfortunately she’s more into Sonic and Kirby.

Sure seems to know his shit!
