Own A Mac? Try Feist, It’s Great
11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Yeah, that rules out most of you, but hey, you can at least watch the trailer above. The game looks gorgeous. Feist is a 2D platformer by Zurich students Florian Faller and Adrian Stutz, in which you guide a little Soot Sprite-looking guy around and…do stuff. It’s all fairly beautiful, all fairly relaxing, and if you’ve got a Mac, you can grab a beta from the link below. Feist Beta [Feist, via Indiegames] More »Blurry Tales, Druish Tales

Peter Moore On Rare: ‘Skills Not Applicable Today’
10:40PM Brian Ashcraft | Former Microsoft, current EA Sports exec Peter Moore continues to pull no punches in a series of interviews he’s done with Guardian’s Games Blog. This time around, he explains how not everyone at Microsoft loves being in the console business (”There was a vocal minority that disagreed with videogames as a cultural phenomenon”) and dishes on why Microsoft killed the original Xbox (”The hard drive in every Xbox killed us”). But Moore get honest, brutally honest, about Rare. Back in 2002, Microsoft acquired a controlling interest in the company. According to Moore: I thought ultimately it would be very successful — and you know, Microsoft, we’d had a tough time getting Rare back — Perfect Dark Zero was a launch title and didn’t do as well as Perfect Dark…but we were trying all kinds of classic Rare stuff and unfortunately I think the industry had past Rare by — it’s a strong statement but what they were good at, new consumers didn’t care about anymore, and it was tough because they were trying very hard — Chris and Tim Stamper were still there — to try and recreate the glory years of Rare, which is the reason Microsoft paid a lot of money for them and I spent a lot of time getting on a train to Twycross to meet them. Great people. But their skillsets were from a different time and a different place and were not applicable in today’s market. This honesty from Peter Moore is refreshing and illuminating. But these Rare remarks must really sting. That is, if you’re Rare. If not, well. Peter Moore Interview: Part Three [Games Blog] More »

Nintendo Undecided On What They’re Showing At Fall Press Conference?
10:20PM Luke Plunkett | Nintendo aren’t going to TGS. Nothing new there. But they will be holding a big press conference just before TGS, where they’ll be announcing “new products”. But, uh, what new products? And how many? And, most importantly, who are these new products for? Nintendo would have us believe they have absolutely no idea, telling Edge “In terms of the press conference, its content and announcements are still being finalised so we are not announcing anything at this time”. Smoke and mirrors, eh? Fine, we’ll play along. But know your silence will only breed unrealistic expectations from the faithful, Nintendo. You wheel out Brain Training Wii and there’ll be blood on the streets. Nintendo Confirms Autumn Press Conference [Edge] [Image] More »Rambo Arcade Game, So Rambo
10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Wowzers! Check out that 62 inch screen on that SEGA Rambo cabinet in the gallery below. The Japanese game developer has released a few new screenshots of the arcade title, complete with in-game scenes from Rambo flicks. The game features an “Anger System” that pissed off John Rambo shooting power-up mayhem. Yes, wee think everyone can all agree: This game looks like a helluva good time. 9:30PM Luke Plunkett | When you can upset untold scores of internet dickheads with your game’s colour palette, it’s safe to say when you start messing with your game’s important stuff – like character classes – you’re in line for some pure, white-hot rage. And that’s exactly what Blizzard are preparing themselves for when the next Diablo III class is revealed, lead designer Jay Wilson telling Videogamer: All the barbarian players are delighted and all the necromancers hate us. I understand, I don’t begrudge them that. I would hate me too! But what I would say is that when we announce the next class, which is quite similar to a previous class, then all those players will hate us too. You can’t make everybody happy, but I think when the game finally come out players will find there’s a good class for them, one they will love as much as the ones that came before. And if they don’t, I absolutely promise that in the expansions we’ll consider bringing back old classes. You’d best stand by that promise, Jay. The Agonast does not abide character class tinkering. British Sales Charts
8:30PM Luke Plunkett | The King (Nintendo) is dead (at least temporarily). Long live the King (EA)! Yes, EA muscled up the charts in style last week, claiming the top two spots with Spore and Mercs 2, while Tiger Woods and even Spore Creatures did good business. Lord only knows how much money they’ll be bringing in when FIFA 09 and Need For Speed hit the market. More »Life With PlayStation Out For Some
8:00PM Brian Ashcraft | We’ve filed this as “rumor” because we haven’t been able to verify for ourselves — even after downloading the latest PS3 update. But apparently, the 2.43 PS3 update adds Life With PlayStation for some. The Sony service shows the Earth, and users can access current news and weather for locations around the world. It’s possible to even pull up the full article from the headline. Word is that Life becomes available after updating Folding@Home and that it supposedly becomes available then. As previously, mentioned, we were not successful and many others weren’t as well. But there are pics, and hi-res pics at that, of Life with PlayStation of people who claim to have been able to download it. Folks over in the Sony forums state that it appears this was only possible for a short window of time. At the very least, we do know that Life with PlayStation is around the corner.
