Talking the New Xbox Live Experience for a Short Ride

11:40PM Brian Crecente | Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360, may not have been wearing a velvet smoking jacket, but he still had some pretty sexy stuff to show off today in a hotel room opposite the convention hall. Greenberg walked a group of journalists through a demonstration of the live and kicking New Xbox Live experience. Showing us a bit about avatar creation, how friends will show up in the 3D world and how games, movies and such will be listed. We even got to see a couple of environments. More »

360 Sales Have Doubled in US, More Than Doubled In Europe, Quintupled In Japan

11:00PM Luke Plunkett | You know hotcakes? The 360’s selling like ‘em. The company have announced during their TGS address this morning that, since a range of price-cuts were introduced for the console across the US, Europe and Japan over the past few months, sales have – shockingly – increased. According to Microsoft’s John Schappert, US 360 sales have “doubled”, European sales are up by “62%”, and they’re up “five-fold” in Japan. Whichever way you look at it, that’s an increase. More »

New 360 Bundles Include Indy, Pandas And…Sega Superstars Tennis

10:40PM Luke Plunkett | To go with the new Xbox 360 experience, Microsoft today announced three new Xbox 360 bundles. All three will feature prominent Netflix advertising on the front, and all three will see the consoles packed in with free games. First Tekken 6 Multi-Platform Screens

10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | You’ve heard about Tekken 6 coming to Xbox 360 during the TGS keynote from Microsoft’s John Schappert. The PS3/Xbox 360 game will feature the Bloodline Rebellion update that recently went live in Japanese arcades, which introduces two new characters, Alisa Boskonovich and Lars Alexanderson. It’s the first time a Tekken title has appeared on the Xbox 360. The game will be out in Japan fall 2009. Classic Controller For Wii Monster Hunter 3

9:40PM Brian Ashcraft | For those who actually like pressing buttons (hello!), Capcom’s Wii title Monster Hunter 3 (tri) can use the console’s Classic Controller. This of course will keep the controls in line with the previous entries in the MH franchise. The game will feature a split screen mode as well for simultaneous co-op play. Old Snake, Sephiroth Get Sackboyed For LittleBigPlanet

9:20PM Michael McWhertor | Kratos and Nariko aren’t the only PlayStation properties getting the Sackboy treatment. Sony has announced at Tokyo Game Show that Sacks based on Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4 and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII will join the line-up of playable mascots in LittleBigPlanet. Looks like the relationships between Sony, Konami and Square Enix are still somewhat cozy. More details to come, but we have a quick question: who else just peed a little? More »

‘PSP Plus’ Brings DualShock Control To PSP

9:00PM Michael McWhertor | Sony is adding rumble support to the PSP, courtesy of the DualShock 3. Using the new “PSP Plus” feature in games like Resistance: Retribution, owners of both the PSP and PlayStation 3 will be able to forego the portable platform’s analogue nub for a better control experience. These Fighters Are In The King of Fighters XII

8:40PM Brian Ashcraft | We’ve heard that King of Fighters XII has been dated for Japanese arcades new April, and now we hear about the game’s ever expanding line-up. There are 11 playable characters in the show floor demo: Terry, Kim, Athena Asamiya, Leona Heidern, Ralf Jones, Kyo Kusanagi, Shen Woo, Ryo Sakazaki, Benimaru Nikaido, Robert Garcia and Ash Crimson. Three characters were announced as well: Iori Yagami, Andy Bogart and Raiden. More »

The Booth Companions of Tokyo Game Show 2008
