Neither a console nor a robot transformer, Level 5′s web portal will be used by the developer to sell games for the PC and mobile platform. And the dev is sparing now expense to show it off, even in it’s non-existent robot form.
Here you go! The trailer to Bungie’s Halo 3: Recon, the singleplayer Halo 3 expansion/prequel. You’re a UNSC Recon Marine. There are bad aliens around. It’s raining. Enjoy.
Square Enix doesn’t just have a closed theatre, but a closed mega theatre. There was about 40 minutes or so of trailers, including new Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailers. They, of course, looked great as one would expect from a big, glossy Square Enix trailer. However, there were not solid release dates for either title. Final Fantasy XIII was dated “Coming 2009 for PS3″, while Versus XIII was simply “For PS3 Worldwide”. Keep in mind that Final Fantasy XIII will not be getting an Xbox 360 release in Japan and that Versus XIII has always been a PS3 exclusive.
There were two main reasons Microsoft decided to totally redo the Xbox 360 interface: 1) to make everything easier to find and 2) making it easier for the Xbox team to make changes to the system on the fly (instead of having to wait for semi-annual updates).
Finally! Details! On a Bungie Halo title! Courtesy of Microsoft’s TGS address, the Halo 3 singleplayer expansion – first revealed in a trailer a few weeks back – now has a name (Halo 3: Recon), a setting and a rough release date. The expansion will serve as a prequel to the events of Halo 3, with the player taking the role of a UNSC recon soldier, who is our “new hero” for a “new campaign”. The expansion will be out in “Fall 2009″, with screenshots and video expected sometime soon.
Speaking at today’s Microsoft TGS address, it’s been revealed that the console’s revamped dashboard will be released on November 19. And it’ll be released on November 19 worldwide. That’s just over a month away, calendar-watchers, so if you have any last words you’d like to say to your trusty old blades dash, now’s the time to get them off your chest.
Pardon the fast-walking and poor focus, this is meant to just give you a quick sense of this year’s Tokyo Game Show floor. I did a quick walk through of the two big exhibit halls. The third, the one I didn’t walk through, is traditionally dedicated to shops and food, oh and the children’s area. We’ll get to those in a bit.
During his keynote at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft’s John Schappert announced that beloved fighting franchise Tekken would be making the leap to the Xbox 360 in 2009 with Tekken 6. The Xbox 360 version will feature the Bloodline Rebellion update that recently went live in Japanese arcades, which introduces two new characters, Alisa Boskonovich and Lars Alexanderson. This marks the first time the series has appeared outside of a Sony, and while it isn’t an exclusive, Tekken 6 with Xbox Live multiplayer is a major boon for 360 owners around the world. Look for it next spring.
Was there ever any doubt that Travis Touchdown and his laser sword of doom would be making their triumphant comeback? Marvelous Entertainment and Grasshopper Manufacture kick off the Tokyo Game Show right with the debut trailer for No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. I’d say there’s much more information to come, but when you have a woman with spider legs shooting out of her back what more do you need?
We’ve seen some pretty amazing things come out of the LittleBigPlanet beta test so far, including yesterday’s amazing calculating sack boy squad. Wouldn’t it be a pity to lose all of that goodness in the name of making sure everyone was on level footing for launch? Right now the LittleBigPlanet news site is hosting a poll asking players both in and out of beta whether or not the user created content created so far should be completely flushed down the toilet once the game launches.
