New Godfather II Trailer

11:20PM Luke Plunkett | Here’s a new trailer for Godfather II. There’s head-punching, there’s old-timey music, there’s still that lingering sense that EA don’t really know what to do with this franchise. They’ve got until February 2009 to work it out, since that’s when it’s due on 360, PS3 and PC. More »

10:40PM Brian Ashcraft | On November 7, Gears of War is truly getting a global release. The same day it hits North America and Europe, the game will also be appearing on Indian retail shelves. To celebrate its release, Microsoft India recently held a Gears 2 event in Mumbai. More »

Half Life: The Snacky-Treats

10:20PM Luke Plunkett | There are giggles tucked away here and there within the Half-Life universe, but really, it’s a serious game. Full of very serious things. So what better way to break up all that seriousness than with a bunch of snacky treats! On offer here are recipes for Vortigaunt cupcakes, headcrab baozi and small, delicious HL biscuits. The vortigaunts look a little messy, but if you could squeeze some BBQ pork into those headcrabs you’d have a culinary sensation. More »

Sega Reminds All of Dreamcast

10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Just because Sega shitcanned the Dreamcast, doesn’t mean the company has forgotten. (We haven’t!) The company still has a Dreamcast game page on its corporate site. And if you look very closely at this Sonic Unleashed screenshot, you can glimpse that magic enjoyment box. Dr. Robotnik has stellar taste in game consoles. He should be congratulated. More »

Euro PS3 Bundle Includes Four PSN Games

9:30PM Luke Plunkett | While Microsoft Europe seem intent on releasing a bundle to coincide with every single game released on the console over the next two months, Sony Europe are playing things a little more casual. Not so many bundles from them. Here’s one they are releasing, though, and it’s one that takes a slightly different approach to the standard throw-in-a-free-game deal. Seemingly destined for the Scandinavian market – having turned up unannounced on Norwegian online store Komplett, and having only Scandinavian languages on the box – this pack includes a 160GB PS3, a DualShock 3 and vouchers for four PSN games (GT5: Prologue, Quest for Booty, Last Guy & Super Stardust HD). You get all that for 4500 Krone, which is around $937. More »

PlayStation Home Was Originally ‘Hub’

9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Home, the PS3’s long overdue community service, wasn’t always called “Home.” As Sony’s Jamie MacDonald, it was known internally under the codename “Hub.” And how ever did Sony go from Hub to Home? According to MacDonald: More »

Swedish Thieves Threaten Christmas DS Shipments

8:30PM Luke Plunkett | Thieves have stolen two trucks from the docks in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Inside the trucks were “thousands” of red, black and white DS Lite handhelds, valued at “millions” of Sweden’s awesomely-named Kronor. For a country which is already suffering from a shortage of DS units, this is bad news, as the theft will leave many retailers without any DS to sell this Christmas. Police suspect it was an inside job, we’d like to think it was a crack Sony-funded team of truck-driving ninja thieves. Tusentals Nintendo DS stulna i Göteborg [IDG, thanks Chrisso!] More »

Short Films Come To PS3, PSP

7:30PM Luke Plunkett | SCEE are working on a little project called Shoot! It’s a project that will see six short films – five from Europeans, one from a Canadian – offered as free downloads on both the PS3 and PSP. Each film is the result of a partnership between an existing, well-known director and an up-and-coming kid, and as such features short films like The Dreaming, which saw Jerry Bruckheimer “mentor” Salt of the Earth director Anthony Green. The six films will be ready for download from the PlayStation Store on November 13. More »

Final Fantasy Cell Phone Game Reaches 2 Million Downloads

7:00PM Brian Ashcraft | How big are cell phones in Japan? If Final Fantasy IV The After is any indication, pretty damn big. An episode sequel to Final Fantasy IV, the cell phone title has been downloaded over 2 million times and is available for Japanese carrier DoCoMo’s FOMA 903i and 703i series as well as for carrier AU’s WIN BREW series. It was released earlier this year in February, and new “chapters” appear on a near monthly basis. 終章控える『FF IV ジ・アフター』累計ダウンロード200万突破 [Gpara via Game|Life] More »
