Wrath of Lich King Gets Its First Level 80
11:00PM Brian Ashcraft | And like that, someone already hit 80. A mere 27 hours after World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King launches, the game apparently already has its first level 80: a warlock named Nymh that plays on a French server. “In real life I’m 21 and currently employed,” says Nymh. “I took a few days of vacation for the release of the expansion.” Dude’s gonna need another vacation after this “vacation.”
Microsoft Inviting One Last Group Into NXE Preview
10:30PM Brian Ashcraft | Microsoft has announced it is once again adding more LIVE members to the NXE Preview Program. This is the third and final time Microsoft is doing this, and the company is adding over 10,000 LIVE members. Invites are coming via email. According to Microsoft mouthpiece MajorNelson.com: “As before, we’re only pulling names from those that originally signed up (there is no way to sign up if you missed it, sorry) and this selection process will be at random from those that previously filled out the Connect Program Survey from my original post. Again, this is final wave. All Xbox LIVE members will be getting the New Xbox Experience via Xbox LIVE November 19th.” More »
Mother And Son Arrested In R4 Piracy Bust
10:00PM Brian Ashcraft | The Nintendo copyright crackdown continues! The Kyoto Prefectural High Tech Crime Prevention Unit has arrested three individuals in Osaka Prefecture in connection with selling R4 style piracy devices. The R4 can be inserted in the DS Lite and has a small slot that the Micro SD card goes into. Data is stored on a Micro SD and downloaded via a flash drive. Not only did the police arrest Yasueda Okada, the 58 year-old president of the company selling R4-type devices, but also her adult son who is a suspect in the case. A third individual is in custody as well. All three have denied any wrongdoing. You know what they say, the family that sells R4 together, gets and arrested and goes to jail together. 8:30PM Luke Plunkett | If you own both Guitar Hero (III or World Tour) and Rock Band (1 or 2), you’ll be both familiar and ultimately sick of the compatibility issues between the two franchises. They will work, they won’t work, they might work, they should work; trying to get hard, final word on just which instruments will work with which game has been a messy, convoluted and confusing experience. Blitz’s cricket platformer, first released in 2002, will be ready for download on your 360 on November 17, for the customary price of 1200 MS Points. Really, Microsoft. Zapper? It’s the lead-up to Christmas, and you release Zapper? An average (and that’s being kind) last-gen platformer that wasn’t even an Xbox exclusive? You could have at least given us Blinx.
