British Sales Charts: Vin Diesel Love
This time last year, you wouldn’t put your money on an Atari getting a game in the British top 40, let alone the top 10. But in 2009? They’ve managed a second place.
Yes, finishing last week in #2 – behind only Wii Fit – was the 360 version of Starbreeze’s Riddick remake/expansion/sequel thing Dark Athena. After that, more Layton sales, after that, more Nintendo stuff, and after that… Godfather II.
Let’s focus on Riddick, then!

The lack of Little King's Story is sad but hardly surprising; I doubt they even shipped enough to be able to enter the charts. Seriously, when are people going to start notice that game? GOTY so far in my opinion

@m4rkg1: Cheap? I saw it for £80 yesterday in HMV.
@m4rkg1: I would have helped put the pc version in there if they hadn`t given it the drm limited activation treatment.Ah well,their loss.
For those ten seconds or less..... he's free.
@m4rkg1: I make myself feel better by telling myself that I got a really cool, state-of-the-art scale for a fraction of the price of a real, official one.

@chaseus:
Madworld can't hear you, it's already gone.
Thank god it's not Wheelman. So bad and cheesy it's not even funny.
"YOU KNOW WHERE TO FIND ME...(pause)...BEHIND THE WHEEL"
Woohoo go Madworld
Wow, LittleBigPlanet's back in the chart :) All is good in the world (or UK).

Go us putting Riddick up there and I was one of those people who helped :D
m4rkg1
@Ray-Jin: More like the price of it's come down and with other games making use of the balance board people want to get it whilst it's cheap.
m4rkg1
Do they really think Wii Fit makes them thiner ?
poor England :-(
Ha. At first I thought it would be Wheelman. Crazy British people.
@UFO: Indeed I got the 360 version because I didn't fancy having it cry at me.
m4rkg1
@TheTriarii: well it's still #39. The game looks ok actually. Bout' the closest we'll get to a Pursuit force on a console.
halo's still hanging in there

@edhe (xbl): I don't know if digital distribution would really help LKS, what it would needs is a bit of marketing or at the very least some internet buzz, I don't even think kotaku has posted anything about it in months. If it just got some attention I think it could become the next Harvest Moon for Marvelous in terms of sales

@Ray-Jin: Agreed, Man are people fat here.
Also yay for thin Eastern European chics

When we get good store fronts? Digital Distribution?
B&M retail channels aren't good for most titles
@iizcallum: below a megadrive collection though ;)
Good stuff though.
I'm surprised at halo3 and cod4 still stalking the charts.
@Ray-Jin: *cough Britain.
Not just England.
Plenty more fatties in the west of scotland thanks.
@beril: Just checked the individual formats charts, it's in place 12 in the Wii chart, at least it beat the pikmin 2 rerelease, and was the best selling new release for the wii.. small comfort at least

NO LITTLE KING'S STORY D:
@m4rkg1: just bought the ps3 version today :P
Halo 3 back on the chart with Halo Wars? And one of them has been out for over a year longer?
Ouch. That's just gotta..... Hurt.
If it's anything like the old Riddick game, I'm sure it's full of epic vin.
This is rather depressing reading. Must've been a bit of a slow week?

Hey, Layton is #3!
I'm glad it did well. Such a great game. :)
@LittleDeadEpic! ....Hunting Akuma: Ooooh! Might purchase that today...is it good?
ThursdayNext
@ThursdayNext: you know im only now going to play it lol. ive been downgrading my wii and playing house of the dead all day :)
@iizcallum: Since you can get it new for less than £10 that is not really impressive!
@LittleDeadEpic! ....Hunting Akuma: It's hardly surprising given that the game recieved no attention anyware, and I think the initial shipment was very small. I had to go through three different stores before I found a single copy tucked away, hardly visibly, at the bottom shelf toghether with some old shovel ware titles.
The gamming community should be ashamed of itself for ignoring this title. It should at least recieve the same attention as Zack & Wiki, Valkyria Chronicles and Madworld even if never reaches a mainstream audience. Rising Star should be ashamed as well because I think, unlike those titles, it really has the potential to appeal to a large market; with just some marketing it could become the next Harvest Moon.

Bah, no Little King's Story makes me sad. :(
Such a fantastic game... My favourite citizen is Gwen, and she has a mustache. I'm so proud to be King of many Transvestite farmers.
