InFamous Shocks Us With Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta
The switch on Sony’s “electrifying announcement” may have just been flipped, as a Best Buy pre-order box for inFamous reveals the existence of a multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2.
Yesterday Sony began teasing “an electrifying announcement” to take place on April 27th regarding both Sucker Punch’s inFamous and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Today a reader sent us this photo of a batch of newly opened Best Buy pre-order placeholder boxes for inFamous, which indicate that not only do pre-orders score players early access to the inFamous demo, they also receive a voucher for entry into the multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2.
They key word here is multiplayer. Announcing that the sequel to one of the best single-player games on the PlayStation 3 is adding a multiplayer component certainly qualifies as electrifying. I’m certain we’ll hear much more on this come April 27th.

@Skinney is now KamikazeSim: I do agree a bit. I reserved my copy of the gane (FINALLY) today at my work and was unaware of this multiplayer nonsense. Im not much of a multiplayer gamer....buuut like you said, adding extra stuff to games im already gonna be buying is definitly a plus regradless :)
Uncharted 2 is gonna have multiplayer?......meeeh i dont know about that :/ I mean i reserved my copy of uncharted 2 today and realllly look foward to it, but multiplayer isnt much of a selling point to me honestly.
Then again im not a fan of multiplayer in general that much. lol
Oh well we'll see how it turns out. :) I'll put a teeny tiny bit of faith in it....

@fearing: I've been thinking more inFamous = next gen Sly Cooper with electricity. Not that that's at all a bad thing.
@PatrickF**kingStar: And I think it is a move full of win as I was wanting both games already, now saying multiplayer in U2? Oh hell yeah!
@Etheris: If you include a multiplayer element in your game some amount of time and resources have to be focused on making the multiplayer. The single player experience may not suffer but it could. There are only so many team members on any given project.
Then there are games like Resident Evil 5 where including co-op changed the feel of the game from how RE games were before it, and some people even complained about your partners AI when playing the game solo.
Adding multiplayer doesn't always hurt the single player experience but sometimes it does and it is a valid concern that some people have.

@White-Sharingan: My one concern with stuff like this is when it comes at the expense of the single player campaign (see The Darkness, where parts were cut to fit in a multiplayer mode that was lacklustre at best).
@Rey Rodrigues: Yes it is a crapshoot, that's why I'm reserving judgement until all the facts are out. But that's just me.

Okay, I'll admit I never saw that one coming.
I mean, Uncharted multiplayer? Come again?
I can't wait to hear more about how this is going to work.
Kind of douchey of Best Buy to ruin Sony's 'electrifying' announcement, though.
Surely the folks at Sony aren't too happy about them spoiling their big surprise.

@walls99: That's what I was thinking... even if the multiplayer doesn't work out... it just adds more to the game and gives you a nice thing to try out.

@gachzorge: Yeah I feel the same way about this news being spoiled. Sometimes you wanna just play along and build up the anticipation. I like surprises.
D'oh! The Naughty Dog guy lied to me! Oh well. It's cool there's multiplayer in it. But I bet there won't be splitscreen, though I did tell the guy I hated that Sony was moving away from offline play... Maybe he carried my concern to his bosses
Hahahahahaha... that's a good one.
@gachzorge: Yeah I feel the same way about this news being spoiled. Sometimes you wanna just play along and build up the anticipation. I like surprises.
YES! When I got Uncharted I was thinking "WHY DIDN'T THEY ADD SOME FREEEAKING MULTIPLAYER?" Cuz it could have been added sooo easily and it would have been so fun but they didn't. So this makes me very happy. But hopefully its done right. Leveling up, weapons to unlock, etc. GAWD! I want inFamous now. Hahaha. Well it looked good anyway. But now I WANT it.
I agree with the GTA point, no one played GTA multiplayer for long, they mainly played for the single player experience. But I think uncharted is more fun than GTA is and could benefit from multiplayer. I really really hope this special isn't Best Buy only, I want to order this game from Amazon.com.

@gtrunner3: For God sake must you trolls bitch about absolutely everything? Is your life that miserable?
How do you comment on something you know nothing about. You haven't heard anything about it, seen it, or played it.
You people make me crazy.
@CapitalJigga:
The demo does come out a whole week before the game does. Reserving it just gets you the demo EARLIER.
@PatrickF**kingStar: MGS4 had a similar thing too
What the what ?
pepeman
@Horusz: How would you know inFamous is crappy? Neither it or its demo are out yet. Prejudge much?
Pizookie
@FeaturePreacher:
Dude that video is awesome.
@gachzorge: They still have a few more surprises they could surprise people with.
1. Uncharted 2 will support custom soundtrax.
2. Uncharted 2 will support game launching and have a game space at release.
3. Uncharted 2 will borrow some of the cover system and gameplay mechanics from the indefinitely suspended ps3 exclusive Eight Days.
+ Watch video
FeaturePreacher
@Dennen: Especially when a lot of the work on the games engine was completed with the first game.... I mean, people are retarded Dennen, they will always complain. Even if they are being given an extra gameplay mode.
Combine
@gtrunner3: uncharted+multiplayer = realization that Uncharted 2 w/o multiplayer will have dismal sales for all the people waiting for the price to go down to <= $30.00
FeaturePreacher
@Swift_: It's far more than a Crackdown clone.
B33
@ph15h was here... possibly: What's with people complaining about adding multiplayer into video games. Just because a game has multiplayer doesn't automatically make the single-player worse. A perfect example of this is MGS4. MGS4 has an amazing single-player portion, and it included MGO. If Bioshock 2 does include multiplayer, the quality of the single-player isn't likely to drop either. Instead of realizing that multiple teams can be working on different portions of a game at once, people complain for no reason. =[ Ugh.
@bluedeviltron: Seems a bit of a premature statement since you don't know anything about the MP mode.
adgeman
@Cloral: This is because a LOT of people buying Crackdown at first were Halo fanboys who just wanted the beta. Then when the beta ended and they ALL tried to sell it back they realized none of them were going to get anything for it.
@destinrl: Who was the tipster anyways?
I know this has been said hundreds of times, but is anyone else annoyed that you now have to pre-order a game just to get the demo?
Sure, the demo will come to everyone... eventually, but isn't the entire point of a demo a chance to feel the game out before its released?
As for the Uncharted demo... cool.
CapitalJigga
Another cubic ton of money wasted. People won't play Uncharted online for very long, I guarantee it. It's just going to detract from the singleplayer. Doesn't matter if it's separate teams or what. If it's not co-op (and I assume it won't be) then it's not going to be worth having. Yep, I said it. Same goes for Bioshock 2. Only in that game, even co-op doesn't really work.
Screw you developers. Stop with the incessant MP garbage. Nobody is going to play it, it's going to bring the whole experience down, and it's a huge waste of money. If you've got a great story and gameplay, stick with it. I'm looking dead at you GTA4. I bet anything that would have been a worthwhile game had they focused on story instead of letting Niko be a whiny bitch the whole game just so I could get some MP thrown in.
jargy1
@gtrunner3:
Yeah cause adding multiplayer to Metal Gear Solid failed SO miserably...

@Mit: There wouldn't be an internet christmas. Our internet parents would get so pissed at us for ruining internet christmas year after year and would eventually just stop celebrating it all together. Then we would take up Festivus as our wintertime internet celebration. Festivus for the rest of us!
nukee
inFamous is a godly must-have on its own.
Throw in access to the undeniably stellar Uncharted multiplayer beta, and we have something FAR greater than the Crackdown/Halo 3 beta deal.
-Xehanort
@bluedeviltron: Where are they??? I want to meet my new 10 best friends!
@walls99:
I can't wait for the U2 multiplayer, but I don't want to buy a crappy game to get in the beta alone.

@sascha23: i would play co-op campaign over and over again if given the option, but generally yes- i too prefer singleplayer to multiplayer.
@TRT-X:
The funny thing is they do it for really good games. I mean both crack down and infamous are good we did not know how good crack down would be thou.
kdrummer87
@Dancing Ketchup:
You're a strange one, Mr. Grinch.
Demo access is great!
But, I'm torn over the idea of Multiplayer for Uncharted2.
The characters and story were very rich and dynamic and much like BIOSHOCK
I was happy with just a REALLY SOLID single player experience.
I don't wish for the the single player to be possibly diluted by the inclusion of Multiplayer.
But, early beta access hopefully means Naughty Dog really wants to get feedback on it and make any/all necessary changes.
Either way can't wait for Uncharted2!!
FUCHIPATAS
@iliekpie:
I have nothing to say to you but BAH!
The difference between prototype and infamous is easily converted into a gta4 analysis. If you're the type of gamer who played all the missions/relationships and so on, you'd best be checking out inFamous rather than Prototype (if u had to choose anyway)
Now if you're like me, you enjou aimlessly driving around, shooting stuff up, driving bikes of skyscrapers and get satisfaction out of cool front-perspective-while-walking-away-fro...15-cars-exploding moments, you'll enjoy Prototype more. The ongoing supported mayhem ensures this. I'll get both though.
wait... what was the topic?
Dancing Ketchup
@gachzorge: Yeah, us internet bastards will do anything to spoil surprises ahead of time.
If there was an internet Christmas tree with present we couldn't open til Christmas, we would open them all up in the night (neatly, keeping all scotch tape and wrapping in tact), play with all the present until we're bored of them, and then promptly wrap them all back up exactly as they were.
Why is it people tend to think that just because a new feature is added to a game, it means that something else has to be removed or reduced in order to allow it to function. Makes very little sense to me.
In the eyes of people like this. Companies never grow. Dev Teams never employ new people. No one can be hired and no one can be fired. And for some reason, "Sequel" means that the game must look, act, and have the exact same look/gameplay as the first one, but with a new story.
Sounds pretty lame if you actually look at it. A cheap method to create a sequel that has zero improvements over the previous release. Every sequel adds and upgrades, and I don't think Uncharted should be any different.
Dennen
@PatrickF**kingStar: With a Crackdown clone, no less!
Umm, does Uncharted 2 really need multiplayer? Seems kind of unnecessary.
Draco Basileus
Awww hell yeah. I reported this a few days ago

@walls99: astounding news! kinda punches a few hole in my theory for what this "electrifying announcement" would be.
i guessed that Uncharted 2 and InFamous were getting married... *shrugs*
Sorry prototype =3
I just rented Uncharted, but enjoyed it. I was planning on buying Infamous. Maybe the multiplayer Beta for Uncharted 2 will push it over into the buy category for me... hmmm.

you're slackin, kid.

@iliekpie:
Didn't Crackdown sell over a million and a half copies?
@Scott J: You're crazy, crackdown was great. BTW you didn't have to preorder crackdown to get into the halo beta either. Just had to buy it. I hate preorder specials.
houkah
@ph15h was here... possibly:
I bought Crackdown and only ended up playing the beta for an hour or so.
RaptureScientist
@White-Sharingan: ooooooh! I never thought of that! More acrobatic get-aways from crossfires, and direct confrontations!
The idea suddenly got a lot more delicious :3

@Bergerac: Multiplayer and lightsaber add-ons for inFamous.
@Dragonzigg:

@TRT-X: IMO, Crackdown >>> Halo 3
Wow that's awesome news, oh my! Uncharted to have multiplayer, that's great.
Multiplayer would be good because of the ability to climb around the level.

Nice. Niceee
oh shit - need spoilers!

@Archaotic Has The FFXIII Demo!: the only thing that would be more awesome is if the the uncharted beta came with demo for Heavy Rain.
Now that's a ridiculous tie in right there. :)
@gtrunner3: this is Naughty Dog Inc. we're talking about, not some broke ass bankrupt dev studio. they're owned by SONY, i think they can afford to hire a few more staff to take care of the MP. your comment is flawed.
chang187
@liquid_kore: no no no, RE5 is a fucking slow game, nothing like uncharted.
I can actually see it being done, like a gears of war but with less meat and bulk. More acrobatic shit. But I guess everyone thinks different
White-Sharingan
Don't really care, but I hope uncharted makes the multiplayer work. I hate tacked on gameplay.
madammina
@themissing: That's weird, those two didn't seem to be in agreement to me.
In any case it's definitely a case of wait and see but we can still speculate based on the original game and it's mechanics, I can't see them being that far removed in the sequel. Co-op would be cool.
@gtrunner3: Don't knock it till you try it =/
@Scott J: Crackdown was surprisingly good... Didn't even buy it until after the beta died.
inFamous is looking a lot like Crackdown, except with more hype. Hope it's as good as Crackdown or even better. =[ Ugh, they put Multiplayer in my Uncharted.
@bluedeviltron: Seriously.
I'm all about the single player experience, but whatever helps move units and keep those games from getting traded in.
sascha23
Sony has to have one of the worst coordination teams ever...why go through all of the trouble to put up all the teaser press only to have it leak a full 3 days before the announcement? That being said...
MP in Uncharted 2?? Sweet! I still think the first one is one of the best PS3 games out there. People are comparing infamous to Crackdown...but the difference is...infamous will be good.
BulletEddy
@gtrunner3: Obviously not if even KOTAKU were impressed by it. :P
@Trevor Green: it's a beta, meaning they're gonna let us (if you purchase infamous, which I'm not) fool around with it, then they'll read Kotaku to see what people think and see what they need to do to improve the game's multiplayer aspect before the games release. ever think of that? and even if it isn't killer, at least it's in the fucking game, unless they charge $6 at the PSstore that would suck. but until that is announced i stand by my defense.
chang187
@TRT-X:
Crackdown was awesome, and I'll dare say I had more fun with it than I did with H3's campaign. This is good news for inFamous AND it's good news for Uncharted 2, since it means we all get to PLAY it in June.
dopeness...this makes me very,very happy. didnt really wanna get infamous, prototype was for me, but a uncharted 2 multi beta makes me interested.
multiplayer in uncharted can be great if the implement the platforming and the great shooting together. if done right this could be amazing, cant wait
Chris Farmer
Hell yea!
Excellent. EXCELLENT. Two upcoming games that I absolutely adore, together in one package. GREAT news.
It'd be nice if it were a single player demo. I don't like multiplayer only anything just because I like to take my time and look around. Can't exactly do that with competitive game types.
@sander_dutch: You have to talk to them in their own language.
YOU NO CAN PASS BRIDGE! YOU GIVE ME GOAT OR ME EAT YOUR BOY!
i meant chang187 and sander_dutch sorry
themissing
@Trevor Green: i agree with chang187 and gtrunner3, SSSSHHHHHUUUSSSHHHHHH. everyone on this site disses EVERYTHING the minute it's announced. ever think maybe the mechanics have been tweaked since the first game?
themissing
@gtrunner3: Does 'Gears + multiplayer = fail' (on a simple gameplay level, let's not get into glitches LOL)? 'Cause let's face it, the gameplay is fairly identical. That's simple realism.
Bergerac
Sony's big surprise just got ruined. Lets all agree to look shocked and just play along. Kind of like when you know you're walking into your own surprise birthday party.
"Oh my garsh you guys, i never saw this coming!"
@chang187: every game has multiplayer its become a another bullet point on the back of the box. uncharted SP can stand up on its own and dosent need MP. as far as i see , the game having MP is meaning less quality in the SP. because there moving people off to make a shitty MP
gtrunner3
I feel bad for Sony now, they're electrifying announcement has been ruined, but I think I'm going to be forced into buying that game now.. even though I don't want to.. maybe I'll return it afterwards lol
@walls99: WOOHOOOOOOO
damatman
@gtrunner3: Not necessarily, I have faith in Naughty Dog. Especially if they do something interesting like a competitive treasure hunting mode as well as the possibility of co-op.
electroshockwave
I like it when companies add extra stuff to games I was already gonna buy.

Skinney is now KamikazeSim
@PatrickF**kingStar: Yeah only this time the game that you get with the beta actually looks good.
Scott J
we all knew it.
@PatrickF**kingStar:
I was going to buy inFamous when it came out anyway, so this is icing on the cake.
I love cake, not as much as I love pies though. Pies have crusts, and although cake has crusts sometimes too, they aren't as flaky or tasty.
I'll stop now.
@chang187: seriously think about it for awhile uncharted mechanics v other people it sounds terrible. it has nothing to do with hating on the game or anything it just sounds like a terrible idea.
Trevor Green
@WolfmanWalt: Half tucked shirts are unlocked at level 30.
@gtrunner3: How do you know? Are you an early beta tester? Probably not, so sit in your corner-shut up-and have faith
It could be the next GoW with half tucked shirts
It'd be nice if ND did something in return following U2's release. I like this hippy community Sony have going for themselves.
Bergerac
OHHHH SNAPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

@White-Sharingan: I could get behind some Bioshock splicer deathmatch, but Uncharted multiplayer sounds about as fun as RE5 multiplayer to me. Unless we are talking co-op then that could be very cool.
This is pretty sweet. But please don't be just Best Buy. I refuse to shop there.
nukee
@gtrunner3: you + comment = fail
chang187
Didn't you have to buy Crackdown to get the beta?
Sean Maloney
Well, this was a shocking development.
Really though, I think that's great news. I trust Naughty Dog to make a good multiplayer mode, as well as making a good single player mode. My only interest is to how it works...and if all the character have those awesome half tucked shirts.
@fearing: Ooops, guess I took too long to type it :)
This is great news for the 11 people who will be playing Uncharted 2 multiplayer.
bluedeviltron
@TRT-X: Hell I liked Crackdown more than Halo 3. This makes me suspect inFamous might be better than I was previously giving it credit for.
And the Infamous=Crackdown jokes are coming...now.
But seriously, I do like this idea. Probably the best, most exciting way to announce that a game is going to have a multiplayer component added to it. Hope it's as good as the single player.
Yesssss!! Such great news. I'll have to play through Uncharted again for the 3rd time this weekend in celebration. :)
uncharted + multiplayer = fail
gtrunner3
holy shit, some people may find it negative to add MP to games like Uncharted and Bioshock but for me, I love me some multiplayer!
best news i've heard all day
White-Sharingan
@PatrickF**kingStar: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS~~ and it's working, on me anyways.
So inFamous joins Crackdown on the list of games attempting to ride the back of another game to success.
Crackdown wasn't too bad, let's just hope the same will end up being said for inFamous.
Hmm, I was guessing Co-op. But I guess this is close enough.
TenP
Awwwwwww snap.
They're pulling a Crackdown.
multiplayer for Uncharted. woohoo
@D3m0n1k_Ang3l: YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, SO STFU.
chang187
@mpar: Hi! So I guess it'll be mpar, classyWorkman, and myself online so far. Naughty Dog should totally purchase a dedicated server for us and the 8 other players!
wow, really? Uncharted is yet another game that dosnt or shouldnt have multiplayer that might be getting it. multiplayer does NOT = better. for some games it just ruins it, means they have to take people away from the single player campaign to work on the multiplayer.
@Justin-S: I know that it can take away time from single-player if the developer doesn't have a multiplayer team and a single-player team (Which is what many developers do, as single-player and multiplayer creation are different beasts that require different types of talent to create), so what I mean is that people shouldn't automatically condemn the inclusion of multiplayer to the degradation of single-player.
@mpar: Sup?
ClassyWorkman
uncharted 2 for goty :)
@Rey Rodrigues: for games, i like to give the benefit of the doubt until shown a reason not to. but that's just me("gamers" in general).

Actually noob, most devs hand the multiplayer compontent off to other SEPERATE teams or even other companies.
I think army of 2's competative was done like that. Turok also mabey.

And this multiplayer business is going to be badass.
It can only mean a higher variety in guns now and that is going to be sweet.
I would definately like to see Nathan Drake don a Rocket Launcher or possibly a flame thrower.
The autorifle/handgun/shotgun combo worked but made the game sorta boring.

@D3m0n1k_Ang3l: Hopefully, they're reusing the same engine they built from scratch for the first game which could free up development time for multiplayer. Although, the single player campaign is what draws me to the game. I could care less about playing MP for this one, but many do. To some it adds more value to their game purchase. For me, not so much.

@undefined: Well I'm still waiting for somebody to explain how it would be any worse than Gears' MP, which is hugely successful. The gameplay is pretty much the same stuff. Snapping to cover, pop and shoot, they both have good aiming, emphasis on close melee moves (it's just beatdowns versus mutilations). The only difference is the speed of the gameplay, with agility versus heft, and little details like the meatshields, now in Gears 2.
Personally I don't see how the Hell they could possibly mess it up anyway, given how good Uncharted's gunplay was.

I could argue that Crackdown was a Spiderman 2 clone.
Koztah
@PatrickF**kingStar: I never was a Halo fan but I bought crackdown new a few days after the Halo 3 beta started since that was the only thing everyone on my friend list was playing and I was lonely... Crackdown ended up being a great game and I don't regret buying it at all.
This game here wasn't really on my radar even though it should be since it's made by Sucker Punch. I loved Uncharted(like most people who've played it) and I would definitely buy this game just for a chance to play U2(lol) multiplayer early! This is good news indeed.
This is either the greatest news ever or the worst, can't tell yet.

@Archaotic Has The FFXIII Demo!:
the facts don't matter!
Ah, I hate games that require a pre-order to get the demo; the demo is how I decide if I want it, and I don't like missing out on pre-order goodies.
@LllusionX has a fanboy clone!!: Yes, I do know.
@Eran: Well, good to know I was wrong for enjoying MGO all this time. All that fun I was having was just a fake memory, I guess.
@Tuba1060: It wasn't Zone of the Enders 2 that was bundled with MGS2 demo, it was the first Zone of the Enders.
savemeaquaman
surely the fact that they're releasing a multiplayer beta implies that there's been a reasonable emphasis on online features for Uncharted 2... generally when a game has an online beta they offer a little bit more than the run of the mill deathmatch modes, otherwise they'd just give a single player demo.
Have faith people, Naughty dog havent failed us yet!
I hope the multiplayer isn't mandatory.
Jerpar
@gtrunner3: Amen, brother. I f'en hate multiplayer. When I spend $60 on a game, I want it to be completely lacking in features and I want it to be over as soon as possible so that I can move on to the next $60 investment. God knows, I don't want to have to worry about replay value.

@FeaturePreacher: Wow, that's some good animation there. Never heard of the game though.
wow, that is indeed awesome news. i always though multiplayer could work in Uncharted, since it's very similar to Gears of Wars style of play. The combat and weapons were a strongpoint of the game to me. I MUST pre-order! can't wait.
Hmm? Multiplayer in Uncharted? What's the point?
It makes as much sense as announcing a massively MP version of Colossus.
@damatman: no kids, this is a woo...

@LllusionX has a fanboy clone!!: nothing like just randomly pickin chapters so you can get all the trophies.
thats been my stint as of late.
@Kommissar Kayce: It did. Glitches and lag ftl.
but crackdown was awesome...
I will buy both anyway!

@Cloral: erm that doesn't matter to MS. Hell they still count people buying back up 360's in their total amount when it's just in the same house played by the same person waiting on his other one get repaired
@Etheris: I agree that people should not automatically assume because multiplayer is being added that the single player portions of the game will be made worse. But it is a possiblity that there could be a single player game that is not as good as it could have been. I hope that is not the case in Uncharted.
Even if there are two seperate teams it can still take resources away from the single player game. When creating a game you have a limited amount of resources to work with. Every person you hire to work on the multiplayer portion of a game is less money to hire someone to work on the single player portion of the game. It all comes out of the overall budget for the game. If there is a larger budget for this game because it is believed that the multiplayer will increase the amount of sales for the game then I could understand. If the budget for the single player game is being cut so that multiplayer can be included that would be a shame.
I just really don't think that every game needs multiplayer. I really enjoyed the first Uncharted and hope that the multiplayer turns out well without sacrificing anything in the single player experience.

WOAAAAAAAAAH! Now that is unexpected!
@gtrunner3:
My god. I hope you know Multiplayer is optional.
uncharted 2 is not going to fail with multiplayer, that's just a dumb thing to say.
Kikouken
@Ueziel: I'm sure there will be a demo, but they must want to thoroughly test the multiplayer to keep it sharp and generate excitement for Uncharted 2 beyond the single player.

@fearing: And unsurprisingly, the connection to Halo 3 has given the hater bandwagon yet another forum to parrot how much they hate Halo 3.
robbo_the_hood
@kdrummer87: Let's not get ahead of ourselves, you've got that backwards. Crackdown is good and we don't know how good inFamous is yet.

OMG THIS IS SHOCKINGLY GOOD NEWS !!!

@bluedeviltron: Ever occur to you that this beta could be for co-op play? It's a form of multiplayer. I'm sure there will be the "deathmatch" type of games, but I expect ND to do something more interesting than having players running around shooting each other like every other game. I'm betting on something completely new here.
Pre-order now, and we'll throw in the ending of the game and the game engine textures free of charge. That's right!
@PatrickF**kingStar: Crackdown was a fun game that would have most likely been overlooked if not for the Halo 3 beta. I don't see how "pulling a Crackdown" is a bad thing at all. And Infamous is not exactly in any danger of being overlooked anyway.
MechaTama31
there is no need for multiplayer in Uncharted!! Why are they wasting time and money doing MP when they could use that effort to improve the SP even more, and make the game longer than the first one!
Oldboy26
@TRT-X: As memory serves, they also did this with Zone of Enders 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2 (well, demo, not beta, but close enough), and people blew of ZOE as a crappy throw in merely because of the connection. And ZOE2 was one of the best games I've played. I was excited about both of these games before this announcement, and I'm excited about both of them still. Plus, we get to see Uncharted 2 that much sooner.

@nukee: The internet is jewish. it doesnt celebrate christmas.
@dreamfall: ...elaborate.
@Jonn: It is made by the sly cooper people, y'know?
@SPECIALciaNAPKIN: yeah, i've gotta be on my 11th play so far. (not complete playthorughs. just starting at a point and playing through from there. but i've done it a lot.)
@gtrunner3: actually, the addition of MP is used in order to maximize playtime and in some cases add even more value to the experience. for the first game, it had a brilliant single player, and for me that was enough. i could come back to it and play again if i wanted to and get a lot of fun out of the amazing experience.
Ofcourse, there will always be the few that will say "TOSS SUM MP IN DAT SHIT!!!" without putting any thought as to why they want that or how it would work.(just like if they wanted to add online MP to echochrome or braid) but they arent wrong to think that. most of the contemporary consumers of our mainstream video game products (like halo and gears of war) need some MP tossed in there or it isnt worth it. some of them might not ever finish the SP, they'll just play the MP forever.
also, just because they are adding MP doesnt make it shitty.
@Trevor Green: uncharted 2 might actually be designed for things like that though. they have pretty good shooting mechanics, lots of parkour, cover mechanics, good weapons, and the single player campaign alone takes a lot of technique in the first one. U2 has even better AI than the first one, and that might get you more prepared for real live online fights. i highly doubt that naughty dog is just tossing in another gameplay mode just for the hell of it without making it fun.
@Etheris: I'm in... I'll throw some extra cash at them to keep the server private :D
Electrifying indeed! Multiplayer for Uncharted is win!

Wow! This year PS3 gets some nice cool deals. In Japan the tide is turning in favour for the Sony brand. I don't have much hotness for Infamous, as I hate GTA kind of games or those western open world style. More geared towards Yakuza/Shenmue type. Really looking forward to Uncharted 2, a buy for me...the multiplayer mode is the ICING of the cake for me +sure buy. It does enhance the replayability. For those like Infamous gamestyle, you got a sweet deal there to get Uncharted 2 demo. Nice...
ahmeng
@Etheris: Although I hate to say it, I'm not too thrilled about the direction they're taking the single player in. I loved the original Bioshock, and I don't think the addition of multiplayer is what's causing the drop in quality in Sea of Dreams...I just can't get into what they've shown us about the story.
Maybe it's just me? I'm really hoping I'm wrong on this one.
@danterandal19: At least the pie isn't a lie, amirite? ;)
What is it about sandbox games including multiplayer demos for linear games?
Tryth
@Man In Gauze wants KZ2: You could just cancel the pre-order if you do not like the demo.

@CapitalJigga: I don't mind as long as you can cancel your pre-order after you check out the demo.
