This Is What Free Yakuza 3 DLC Looks Like
Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 (Yakuza 3) may have already been released, but that doesn’t mean SEGA is finished with the game. The title has been getting downloadable content — free of charge.
The DLC content is a total of 29 items and is being released over the course of eight weeks. What kind of content? Stuff like new outfits for you characters. Fancy a walk through Tokyo in a bathing suit with a man dressed as a Mexican wrestler?
Besides the item packs, there are also mission packs. The DLC ends with this newest bundle. Since Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 has been automatically updating each time the PS3 is connected to the internet, keeping up has been a cinch.

@Riktor: Just switch the languages around. Or use Leroy Wells english.
@Riktor: Yeah, I know... :( But they did the first two. I agree with Starwind... keep the Japanese and do subtitles. Some people will get the references.
Leonharfs
@sentroshi: On the Japanese PSN. Just make an account and you can download it. :)
Leonharfs
@Riktor: Subtitles dammit
starwind-hawking
Hahaha this shit looks so ridiculous. I'm finally interested in this game now....
Luchadors and boobs. They got everything right.
@unangbangkay:
psst, that was in Japan, US was limited release (for Yakuza 2)
I am playing Yakuza 2 now. I love this mix of RPG and brawler. The story is complex yet makes sense and the game is so fun and full of mini games.
@Leonharfs:
don't tink so, too many cultural references and story elements based on the players inability to comprehend english (from americans) how do you translate english speaking americans into english that people aren't sapposed to understand?
@hoggert:
that is older Haruka. She has lost most of her cuteness.
but you can only use alternate costumes in Premium Adventure (basically you're playing after everything happened in the game, except you can still team up with dead characters, for some reason)
Please, Sega, pleeeeeaaase! Drag it across the pond! We don't need English VA! Yakuza 2 did better than Yakuza 1, and that one was subs only! Shenmue 2 did great in Europe subs-only!
Pleeease!
WANT. Gawd damnit.
wazzzup16
@Leonharfs:
WOOAH!? A demo?! I had no idea there was a demo! :D
sentroshi
COME ON SEGA! US PS3 OWNERS WILL GLADLY BUY THIS GAME IF IT IS LOCALIZED!
*caps lock is cruise control for cool*
SolidOni
HAHAHAHA, I just discovered/tried out the new costumes today. I had myself followed by ummm...curly haired dude voiced by Fujiwara. We were both wearing the wrestling costumes, went to Mahjong, it totally looked like some gay costume party couple.
Well that's cool. But I need the game to be in the US first... I played the demo of it. Had no idea what was being said, but I was more or less able to get the gist of it. And the dating sim, I got it perfect. :D Fighting is just ridiculous, but amazing. Hope it hits these shores soon, if at all
Leonharfs
Please tell me that's not an older Haruka..... Goddammit Japan.
When is this coming out here? Damn it, Sony. Just localize it yourselves! Publish it FOR Sega, they're not doing jack shit with it!
@starwind-hawking:
yeah, ummm...no. I don't think you're understanding what I'm meaning. Someone who speaks english (because they're american) says a key plot element, but because Kazuma doesn't understand English, he doesn't understand. it isn't until about 3 hours after that someone explains it to Kazuma (and you the player)
Japan... *sigh*
Japan... *sigh*
Japan... *sigh*
Japan... *sigh*
Japan... *sigh*
Japan... *sigh*
...you're so freaking awesome.
I like how the old person in the first shot is staring in awe at the luchador's ass.
YES.
... YES! YES IN EVERY LANGUAGE POSSIBLE.
@Riktor: I don't see how that should affect anything. You obviousily speak English and you sound like you enjoyed the game. I don't imagine that important element made or break the game if it was spoiled since it's explained 3 hours in, which can't be TOO late into the game...I hope.
Regardless, how would you do it potentially for an American audience? Muffle it and distort it so it doesn't make sense except for the American loan words that are shared with Japan, which is exactly what it sounds like to Kazuma. It's gibberish to him. There. Problem solved. Thank me later Sega and port this game over here.
@Riktor:
Just keep the original Japanese voices and use subtitles. The game will be better that way anyway.
Xagest
Nachoooooooooooooooooooooo
lolgreg
@Riktor: So they make it another language. Not that hard, certainly not enough to just not translate the whole thing.
@WolfmanWalt:
muffling it could work.
I guess for the lost american woman who you have to learn to say, "over this way" could speak another language.
but, I don't know what they'll do about the Black Guy, even in Japanese I think it's hilarious.
but there are some things I don't think are allowed in US games. *Spoiler, maybe* There is a very sexy minigame which will make about 80% of men's pants tight, but there is a submission where you find out, the girl...wasn't always a girl. So if you never do the submission, you'll keep getting tight pants, but for those who do it...*Spoiler*
@MaximusDM: Exactly.
thats cool and all.. but hey sega.. release virtua fighter 5r as dlc please.
@Riktor: Also, don't a lot of Japanese people know English>? Surely this did not ruin the game for them.
Hey_Blinkon
@Riktor: There's been much worse in our video games. Gender mixups aren't that bad.
Also, you wouldn't need to muffle, or any of that, just keep the Japanese language track and have English subtitles. We can figure out that our Japanese protagonist can't understand English, and if we can't, they can just put a note in the subtitles "*Kazuma does not understand*".
If Atlus can port niche Japanese titles and have moderate success, and still be a profitable company, Sega should be able to do a quick port of Yakuza 3 over here (with just English subtitles and translated menus, like Yakuza 2), released in fairly limited quantities, and be able to please fans and still make some more profit off of Yakuza.

Hey_Blinkon
Thanks for the man-candy, SEGA.
Gamescook
@Riktor: Just like how they did that with Yakuza 2's Korean characters... subtitles.
I want it now dammit!!!

@Hey_Blinkon:
it was more of a hint in english (but an obvious hint).
I don't think many Japanese gamers picked it up. (because although some Japanese know english, they aren't skilled per say. "How are you, I'm fine Thank you" ^_^ )
I think SEGA has their reasons for not bringing the game to US. Especially their funny representation of the US. (it's almost as awkward as Tokyo Drift)

i want this game so bad. doesnt it have english subtitles?
Primebuster
@unangbangkay: Agreed, and I think fans of this game, if given the option, would go for English subtitles over English VA.
Hope they make a Chinese/English version we can import.
@Riktor: Older? She looks like she hasn't yet hit puberty.

@Riktor: "Someone who speaks English (because they're American)"
Oh wow, y'know, Americans aren't the only people who speak ENGLISH.
Plus give love for us Europeans too.

@mcderek3000: Isn't that...an actual selling point over there?
Also, wow they put alot of work into games these days. Dunno if it's late and I'm tired or what, but there is actual ice in the cup on that table and a straw besides. Props in general to game design teams these days I suppose.

GoddardHalomitosis
This could only get better if there's a Hard Gay costume.
No wait, this could only get better if they released this fucking gem in English with a Hard Gay costume.

@Archaotic Has The FFXIII Demo!:
I thought of the same thing the other day. I even told my friend and he agreed.
Also,I am not going to be able to play my copy of three until summer is over. So if they do announce it at E3; I will still buy the American version. Because my Jappo is lacking. I haven't spoken a word since I was nine. Ok now I miss my friends mother...

It's the mise-en-scène, man. I'd expect videogame environments to be just as detailed as most film sets these days, though it's considerably more of a challenge what with the player interaction and all.
