From the way people are talking about this game it seems like it is going to be really fun, but I have this feeling of dread that if I get hyped for it I will be left extremely disappointed by it *Looks at Bioshock and Mass Effect*.

It's just not f'ing fair that the Xbox gets its Virtual On while a platform with two sticks in the PROPER positions for ideal Virtuaroid operations, the PS3, gets nothing. Dammit Sega, this had better be one of those timed exclusivity deals.

I cannot wait for this game to come out. I had it on Dreamcast. And for it to come out on the 360 solidifies my belief that the xbox 360 is just another iteration of the dreamcast =p

I'm excited for this and the possibility of MVC2 being released for download. Now if only Sega would give us a North American release of Ryu Ga Gotoku 3, I swear I'd even be happy with just English subtitles and English menus, here's to hoping for an E3 announce.

@PatrickF**kingStar: It's upgraded to HD standards, which I take as taking a 640x480 game and giving it a small bump to 720p. The game looks barren in that shot, and I think a lot of people will be disappointed in the game visually since it lacks the aesthetics of Rez to get away with a more or less straight port.

Of course, there are so many explosions and lasers going off in the game that you won't have time to focus on the lack of detail. If anything, it helps you keep focus on the action.

Can't wait, i played the original Virtual On arcade game like a million times back when i used to play laser tag a lot. Definitely my favorite arcade game of all time.

You were dissapointed by Mass Effect!? In all fairness I didn't expect much, I fucking despised Jade Empire, I played through the game three fucking times, the third time was actually the last two weeks while my 360 was being repaired and I still think it sucks ass...maybe that's why I like Mass Effect so much, I had low expectations for it and was pleasantly surprised. I liked Bioshock as well.

@unangbangkay: I'm sorry, all I'm hearing here is "Baaawwwww!" They haven't said anything about timed exclusivity or anything. It might be on PS3, it might not. Right now, it's looking like it might not. But who's to say? Or, it might have something to do with who offers better incentives to host content on their service. From what I understand, Sony's bad at that.

Anyways, this is why having both consoles would be the best bet.

yeah but will it be good even without the nostalgia? I owned a dreamcast at launch but never played V-On, some games don't hold up as well without that element of nostalgia though...shit I just finished playing through Phantasy Star II again, people think i'm nuts but it has a special place in my heart.

i kind of wish they had given this a similar treatment to wipeout with the super-shiny, but still retro asthetic graphics. although i've always had a soft spot for those types of graphics.

@PSOCecil: A good number of third party devs have shifted focusing more XBL as opposed to PSN due to Sony's rule which mandates devs to pay for bandwidth.

I don't see people how some PS3 can try to cry wolf on Sega for here. Last I checked, Yakuza 3 and Valkyria Chronicles (originally planned as 360 exclusive) are still exclusives.

This game requires a twinstick more so than I feel a 2D fighter requires a joystick.

I already have this game for DC but if I didn't I still wouldn't buy this without the use of a twinstick

It looks fun, but not enough fun for 1200 MS points. Just too expensive.

I was all set to buy a 360 with birthday loot, but i wrote a lost with the top ten rated exclusives for each system and special features and downsides. in the end the exclusive list, and the better (i.e. doesn't die) hardware made me buy the PS3. Both are good, but each satisfy different niches. The PS3 just had a library that spoke to me more.

@Strider-Kojiro: agreed... Banjo-Kazooie didnt hold up nearly as well as i thought it would (collect-o-thons just arent that much fun anymore with the exception of the mario series...) so i assume banjo-tooie is in a similar boat, but giant robots fucking each other up is timeless.

To retouch on your point, crazy collect-o-thons with the super backtrack quests aren't that hot these days, lest your name be Mario.

Arcade games on the other hand? They age in a different way. And Mecha-mashing like this has been missed for a long while...

Nobody bought Virtual On: MARZ on PS2. That and I am still upset that the Dreamcast's derailing started when Sony mentioned how their Emotion Engine chip was the most powerful thing on the planet.

In the end the best SEGA games made a home on the XBox..

But I do agree with you. the PS3 does mimic the twin sticks oh so much better than the 360 analogs.
