EA’s Wii Business Nearly Doubled Last Year
EA embraced the Wii last year and the Wii embraced it right back, with the percentage of revenue due to the Nintendo console nearly doubling over the previous year.
According to the company’s recently released financial results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2009, 14% of EA’s revenue was generated by Nintendo Wii titles during the year, as opposed to 8% the year previous. The rise came during a year when EA released 21 titles for the console, not counting co-publishing agreements and distribution. Notable games released during the period include MySims, MySims Kingdom, and several titles in the EA Sports All-Play line, which generally weren’t very well received by sports fans.
The Wii still remains the smallest console portion of EA’s revenue, however, with the Xbox 360 generating 24% and the PlayStation 3 generating 16% of GAAP revenue on average. Still, the little white box is catching up, and with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and Grand Slam Tennis being the only two Wii MotionPlus titles launching with the peripheral in June, we can probably expect those numbers to grow.

It's definitely going to take off. All the fitness games out there right now are shit, made by Majesco or Jaleco. Wii Fit owners are going to jizz in their pants when they play a decent game when they get all hot and sweaty.

@El-Suave: No, they were further apart. There were some bloggers who took some figures from the financial reports, without understanding that they were "expected revenue" figures for particular titles on particular platforms (they were still in the results because those were forcasts given to financial institutions) and declared that PS3 titles now outsold 360 titles.
However, those figures were put together on the back of the other EA prediction from the very start of 08 that the PS3 would significantly outsell the 360, especially in Europe (6m vs 2.5m if I recall correctly).
Later in the same report were more accurate figures, though these were of course ignored by those same bloggers looking for a story. Or maybe they just didn't know how to read financial reports.

@oosiegewolfoo: I actually really like Brawl and Galaxy's controls, and they aren't waggle nor shovelware. So please even if there's quite a few games that aren't good, there are a number of good ones. This also goes to LittleDeadEpic, but, sorta on the other side.
