F.E.A.R. 2 Getting New Maps, New Heads
Now that Monolith’s free downloadable content for F.E.A.R. 2 has come and gone, it’s time to pay for a couple of new maps and some extra heads.
The second of three planned sets of downloadable content for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, the armoured Front pack’s main feature is a set of four unique heads used to customise your multiplayer character, which should have the added effect of making it easier to shoot you in the face. Aside from the heads, Monolith is also providing a pair of new maps. Decoy is a training ground for Replica soldiers turned battleground, complete with pop up target dummies to add a little more confusion to the works. The second, called Conductor, takes place in a train yard, which I believe is a first in shooter history, not counting every other shooter ever created.
The armoured Front DLC will be available on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 21st, setting you back 540 Microsoft points or $US6.99. Totally not worth it for just two maps, but toss in a couple pairs of heads and it all comes together.

Its sad, Fear went from "The PC's top shooter" to the crappy console port. I'm not interested in fear2 til its at biglots for 6$. It was an awful demo that made me cancel my preorder.
@jslay012: I dl'd the Toy Soldier pack but haven't even tried it yet. I like the game, but I'd rather replay the single player than play multiplayer. It's not the type of game I bought for online play. Same with Condemned 2. AWESOME game, yet I've only tried the multiplayer stuff once.
I was about to buy FEAR 2 for 44 bucks. Then my conscience said "You fuckin' stupid?". I put it back down.
phew.

They'll 'supposedly' be coming out with SP DLC (according to the F2 forums/Monolith Community), at some point down the line.

No way they turn a profit on this... This will sell less than 500 downloads
and I am actually a fan of the game. Multiplayer is lame, though, and even the day the last map pack came out, at 8:00PM EST there was nobody playing.
@The Forgetful Brain: i loved the first fears multiplayer, but i had far too many issues with the second one to even bother.

@The Forgetful Brain:
The multiplayer wasn't all that great. The weapons are pretty boring...they're just so uninspired. Same with the maps.

Everyone needs a spare head. Right?
Played the single player... Had enough.

Hmm. Does anyone play the multiplayer on this? How is it?
The demo didn't do much for me, and I bought, but never played past the first few levels of the original.
The Toy Soldiers DLC and video kind of got me interested though.
Single player was decent. Multiplayer...fucking terrible!!! They should have made it free to reward all the fools for buying this game.
Too bad no one plays the multiplayer, and adding more maps just makes sure that there's more search options that return with zero hits.
@uppitycracker: Which is surprising. You'd think it wouldn't be hard to make fighting over a syringe full of drugs that turn you into a super-fast killing machine a fun multiplayer experience.
But I always considered FEAR a single player game first and foremost. I think they'd have more success with expansion packs, or at least selling off the rights to make expansion packs, just like last time.

@jslay012: I got a few games going on it weeks afterwards. Never any bother finding folk. I think it does a very localized search tho. Maybe thats part of it.

@The Forgetful Brain: I thought the multiplayer was fun. But I'm guessing a lot of that had to do with the lack of skill of the folk I played against. I'd be a midtable Cod4 player but in Fear 2 I am MVP nearly every round. So I guess I recommend it for the
ego boost! :-D
