Heavily-tattooed Cog soldier Tai Kaliso had a rough time in Gears of War 2. We’ve got a preview of the new comic, in stores tomorrow, that will reveal his back-story.
Courtesy of DC Comics and Wildstorm, here are the first seven pages of Gears of War #7. Written by Joshua Ortega and illustrated by Simon Bisley and Henry Flint, the mature-readers comic ships Wednesday, May 20.

I’m just curious as to what his ethnicity might be. From the game, he looks and sounds like he could be Samoan or Tongan. But he has facial ta moko (tattoo) like the Maori.

I think he’s a pacific islander (like cook island maori) as they are both pacific islanders, the jungle looks similar and they have Moko’s / facial tattoo’s. They are based on Maori’s / South Pacific Island ethnicity as in the book they are referred to as “South Islanders”
