How Did Infogrames Atari Do Last Year?
According to the company’s fiscal results for the financial year ending March 31, Infogrames posted net losses to the tune of €226.1 million.
During the previous fiscal year, the company only posted losses €51.1. However, the good news is that consolidated revenues were up 51 percent to €136.4 million in a sluggish global economy. US revenue growth was up 82.3 percent.
Infogrames attributed these losses to “discontinued operations due to the exit of its distribution business in Europe and Asia.” Instead, the company is focusing on a few selected big titles as well as migrating Infogrames online.

@Gantz: Your Trusted Friend in Science.:
What confuses me is the idea of whose money it is, and how you can lose money you don't have.
considering they no longer exist?.......not very well.

Slightly off-topic but anyone here knows if the Witcher game for consoles are really canceled? I can see that netting them a pretty penny if done right.

@jamesjohnson01: Well, Infogrames mainly publishes (as Atari). They publish the console DBZ games, they've published Neverwinter Nights/2 (actually anything with the DnD license), The Witcher...

"However the good news..." LOL, how optimistic to put that in following a paragraph stating a loss of 226 million pounds.
Doctor - "Sir I'm sorry to inform you that your daughter exploded for no apparent reason".
Father - *Bawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Doctor - "However the good news is you get a lollypop"
Father - "Awesome."

@jamesjohnson01: I'd say whatever crap they put out recently, if crap they did put out, can be forgiven for the massive amount of fantastic text adventures they used to do, and which they've now released in big 'ole lovely packages.
Oh V Rally, how I miss you.
Hold on everyone, we're in for grames
Infogrames is the company I'd rather stay away from,
Their logo isn't exciting, their name isn't exciting...
Actually the whole "infogrames" brand is rather dull...
A logochange is the least they could do, it's been around for ages, whereas all other successfull brands allready doe so; Ubisoft (rainbow became circle thingy), Nintendo(uberchange; red became gray!!), and uhm...yeah ..and some others :P

@carrliadiere: Dude those are banks.
Banks =/= Game Companies
@jamesjohnson01: I think the last one I played was Hogs of War, way back on the PS1. I would love a sequel to that however.

@FurbyGrenade: It's called a typo. Brian spelled it correctly in the article itself.
How do you even misspell Infogrames... it's right there in the picture
FurbyGrenade
@milford: yeah back in the late 90s you couldnt go without them (AFAIK on pc and ps1)
Your misspelling of Infogrames got me totally confused on how to say the company name, because even the CORRECT spelling looks like someone misspelled "Infogames".
Now you've got my mind saying "Infrogorfamaessrrrfrf" all over the place in a slurr of pirate-style r's.
Hmm...what was the last good Infrorrgmramess game anyway?
@Ralff: Alone in the Dark 1 through 3 are the only ones I can think of.

I no longer know if a loss of €226.1m is a lot or not. It sounds like a lot, but if banks are losing £4bn, then... Meh, I don't know.
Have these guys ever actually made any good games?
