@PlatformJunkie: With the R&C game, even with the extra controller, it's still just a 3-5 hour game. you wont be using the controller that much. With infamous, as it is an open world game, you could literally play forever. as well as the fact that it comes with the uncharted beta, and infamous may very well get DLC eventually.

We who have PS3's and BC never use it because once we've played the PS3 games, there really isnt much need to go back. i am one of the people who still have like 100PS2 games lying around, and as i'm sure people without BC PS3's would say "Well why arent you playin' them when not playing PS3 games??" and i'd say "Because when i bought my PS3, and whenever i turn on my PS3, I planned on playing my PS3 games. I'd use the BC if any of the other games could compare, or if i didnt already have all the good one's sequels, or if they launched recently." With games like Persona 4, sure i'd play it on my PS3, but that's probably because it's still considered a current gen game. Some PS2 games i may play every once and a while(i've only used BC like 3-4 times altogether), but usually, they have to be the best games ever, like i might still play GoW1-2, KH1-2, SotC, and probably a naruto game, but other than those and a few others, i'd never ever need the BC, nor do i beleive that anybody else truly does.

The point is, it sounds good on paper, but when actually enabled for use, it isnt used very often. So people on the outside looking in (you) may be looking too far ahead into what you may or may not want. With you, sure, its fine that you have all of those old games, but that doesnt change tha fact that most/all of them have their own sequels out that are almost undoubtably better.

BC lovers have their market, and sony is trying to please that maret by lowering the price of the PS2. If they wanted to bitch and whine about what was there, they shouldve bought it around launch like us BC owners did. I would give my BC away if i could, as i have a PS2(that isnt used), but with it, my PS# is worth slightly more, regardless of how little i use one of it's "rare" features.

@Schokobaer: I've never played any other MGS games(except a phone one) and i fully understood MGS4. I could possibly be smarter than the people you are referring to, but seeing as though you probably've never played it, you'd never know all of the fan oriented things kojima added to either further along the story or hint at events passed in other games. also, there is a downloadable database of information via Playstation Store where it's an encyclopedia of everything that is Metal Gear Solid.

Who wants Quest for Booty without having played Tools of Destruction?

I'm still waiting for Tools of Destruction to drop to a reasonable price point. I'm not paying $60 for a game that's a year and a half old. Give it up!

@Schokobaer: actually, it is possible. in the collectors ed. survey SCEA sent me, one of the things on there was the inclusion of god of war 1 and 2 on a blu-ray disc packed inside the collectors edition. which, if they do that, means that BC wont be necessary since they would be packed onto 1 blu-ray disc, it'd be playable in all PS3's since if they were to put em onto a blu-ray disc they would recode it to be playable on all ps3's.

@nOObert: They're not too bad but I'd rather they gave us what the others got.

I can see that it's coming on there last chance but maybe they don't want to pay that much right now. Especially now the recession kicked in but we'll see how it goes.

Good cos they hardly deserve it. Not saying MS or Nintendo deserve it either (they've all been pretty sh*tty this gen).

@nOObert: Well I had to be late, Sony felt us europeans weren't loyal enough customers to earn any PS2 BC. I have the choice of importing a huge PS3 and getting a big shipping cost added on or losing BC. Not the best option so forgive me for not thanking Sony.

Either way I wasn't trying to troll with my last comment. I just don't believe you can simply state that there has been BC before so people MUST buy it out completely or they don't want it. Most of those PS3's did sell and people commonly agree the PS3 is expensive so I can see why it was immediately bought up.

@snaldo008: Even though the Halo/Fable bundle is 'old' games, I still think that is a great bundle. The reason being that bundles are not designed for someone who already owns a console but to get new people to buy the console. You would have to assume that new consumers don't have these games, so why not bundle it with what 360 fans consider the best? The only issue you have to consider with older games is whether or not the consumer can find these games cheaper on the store shelves (But that would probably take research, and lets be real, most consumers these days aren't that research savvy).

@Đipic: I constantly hear people saying they still get use out of there PS2 and with the odd new game like Persona 4 then why wouldn't they use it? I've got a 360 and I bought kingdom under fire: the crusaders, panzer dragoon orta, Ninja gaiden black, Dead or alive 3, Fable, Alien versus predator and knights of the old republic to play. I'm still wanting to get Deus ex 2, elder scrolls 3: morrowind and more. Do these games suck cos they're old??? And I got some PS1 games recently too but I guess having a PS2 and not a PS1 means I should neglect them.

@NexusSIX: Yeah they wanted reduced costs and not features removed duh. Clearly the amount of complaints shows there is a market for BC lovers. Not everyone goes off games after a year or two.

@grantanamo: that is indeed very true, they created the halo3/fable2 pack, which would be similar to the resistance1/motorstorm pack on the ps3, 2 good games, but not that new. i dont remember they making a gear of war bundle or a halo3 bundle back when they released it. I do indeed like that sony make these bundles.

@iizcallum: If we're going by strictly math, the R&C + controller is a better deal, since a 14.99 game + 49.99 controller cost slightly more than a 59.99 game. But if we're going by game length, then I would assume Infamous would be the better deal.

It is just too bad.. IMO those are not console selling games.. KILLZONE 2 had a bundle that never made it's way to the rest of the world. North America could have used it for sure. Not enough Hype or Commercials either for Killzone. It was NOTHING like what Halo 3 did to the world, littering every sort of media with advertisements. You could not get a slushie from 711 with out being reminded that halo exsisted.

My brother has my old PS3 and I have the shiny new MGS4 PS3..which ironically, I have yet to open all the way other than taking the controller out because I just keep using my old PS3.

It's funny though I hear a lot of people have 2 PS3's.

That's the way I thought it was back in the day with the NES (w/ Mario) & GENESIS (w/ Sonic).

For the future consoles, they should all come preloaded with a good game. Like how the 360 comes with Hexic, except they should give us better games!

I think a God of War Bundle with BC is possible at E3. That way Sony can pack in some of the older God Of War games for the collectors edition.

It really isn't upscaling more than it is smoothing. And I think it looks like crap most of the time. I much rather play a game with progressive scan capabilities than with the PS3 smoothing.

@D4RkNIKON: I think you miss the point of the bundle. Sure Killzone 2's bundle didn't ship 8 million in a month and of course Halo did so well, it's the only Microsoft Franchise coming into this generation that sold over 3 million. A 3rd of the people who owned an xbox had Halo 2 probably more so if you count people who bought pre-owned like myself.

Sony are not bundling all these new IP's with the PS3 to try and outsell Halo 3 they are doing it so that the inFamous, Killzone, LBP, Motor Storm, Resistance, Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank, Heavenly Sword, GT sequels will all have bigger fan bases.

People that buy new consoles rarely have money to go out buy a lot of games straight away so they tend to play and love the game that comes with it. Where would Sonic have been without the console bundle? Mario? Wii Sports? Out of a sea of games Sony are giving you an exclusive for you to love so that you buy the sequel and hopefully show your mates so that they too want the game.

none of us knew BC would be taken out and you type as though we were "expected" to get a ps3 at launch for that rediculous price.

i'm surprised and slightly disguested at the ammount of comments DEFENDING the decision to take out what is now a standard installment in a console, ironically from the ones who first put BC in a console; that's like defending the price of xboxlive.

i don't care if BC would do better for sony, consumers want a break and that's what BC is there for and we want what's better for US.

A friend of mine picked up a 20GB model off of Craigslist - complete and perfect condition - for $300. That's right, he got it for less than the price of a new, non-BC PS3.

What's more, he showed me plenty of other people who were selling the same deal for less, or at least not much more, than a new PS3.

There are plenty of people who sell shit that they have no idea what the value for it is. All you have to do is look - but God knows that's apparently too much work. Wouldn't wanna tire yourselves out by browsing the internet.

@PapaBear434: It was on the hong kong store for about 10 minutes, and then some people got codes that gave them download rights for it on the US store, but I dont' know how they did.

Every time I see a PS3 in a store, or a new bundle, I gasp in the thought that my 60 gig may die and I'd have to get a new one someday, then I sigh a sigh of relief when I realize it's just a bad daydream, and my 60 gig is just fine, sitting over next to my broken TV... TV's can be replaced. A 60 gig is priceless...

I like the fact that they're offering a bundle, but Sony still needs a 300 dollar system. People can't afford a 400 dollar (lump-sum) entrance fee (into the world of PlayStation), Lower the entrance fee, get people to buy the console, they'll find the money for games, and accessories over time.

@CowLion: Yeah, I know what you mean. PS3 games are extremely expensive compared to 360 games. They don't tend to drop in price as much or as fast. That's another negative preventing me from buying a PS3. It would have been better if Sony included both Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty in there instead of adding a second controller.

Um ok I am starting to think sony is sucking ass on their bundles. Why quest for booty and not the almost 2 year old tools of destruction too. Damn they are cheap a 14 dollar dlc please.

You can toss old phrases around like "rediculous price" (spelled "ridiculous", BTW) but a lot of people bought it at said price, and even now, it was worth it. especially now, it was worth it, because of all the great games out on it. As a consumer WHO ACTUALLY BOUGHT A PS3, i can say before i did make the decision to buy one, i was very amused at the though of playing old PS2 games on my PS3. probably just as much as you are, but once i did, it quickly changed, and this is true for quite a few BC PS3 owners. once you've played some PS3 games, got to know and love the PSN, playing with friends, buying demos and games, there really is never enough time to play said old games. I'd like to find some time to want to play those games, but there never is. as i said before, if i am to turn on my PS3, it is for the sole reason that i want to play my PS3, it's games, play with friends, etc.

Regular people will buy it thinking that its a full length game only to be disappointed with a mini episode of the games... :/
