Infogrames Is Now Atari

@nick_gc: Yup this is the second time. 1st time they changed their US operated Infogrames (kept the European portion seperate) to Atari put it on the stock market and sold 50% of it to raise cash from investors to pay off debt. Then they let it run itself into the ground. Bought back all the important franchises from it for cheap and then when it was about to be de-listed purchased the rest of it. Now they have re branded the entire company Atari. Hopefully this time they will have better luck! In any case I'm sure those share holders were glad to know they paid off Infogrames old debts.

@Armagetiton: basically they bought the corpse of the old Atary, ripped the skin out of it and now they're wearing it as camouflage.

They should change their corporate logo to a frenchman with a croquet mallet beating a horse's corpse.

@Armagetiton: To be fair, they've owned a big chunk of the company for years, and published pretty much every Infogrames game under the Atari label for the last 6 years or so.

The Infogrames/Atari connection is so incredibly convoluted (I'm pretty sure part of Infogrames changed their name to Atari back in 2001) that I was barely aware that Infogrames even still existed.

"Infogrames" always seemed like somebody just misspelled the name on the incorporation documents.

@Josh Kulinski: I think what's confusing everybody is that the old North American branch of Infogrames changed their name to Atari Inc in 2003. However the parent company was still Infogrames in France. Now the parent company has changed its name also.
