We’ve gotten our hands on some footage that appears to be for Ubisoft’s Beyond Good & Evil 2, the sequel to the underrated 2003 title.
The footage shows a woman dressed very much like Jade was dressed in the 2008 announcement teaser for Beyond Good & Evil 2, running through a rundown looking town, avoiding police, climbing on top of a building and then making her ultimate escape via an orange helicopter. The visuals certainly match what little we’ve seen of the game so far.
The video was sent to us by a tipster, hosted by French Sonic site Eversonic, of all places.
If this turns out to not be from Beyond Good & Evil 2, I’d suggest Ubi steal it and use it, as it looks amazing.
Thanks Alan for directing us to the vid!

“Badical” – is that a good thing?

Don’t worry David, I wasn’t sure what to think of “badical” either. Maybe there’s an age threshold at play here?
Anyway, this looks amazing. I trust that BG&E2 will be great – if it’s even half as good as the first, it’ll be excellent – but this especially looks like a great direction. At this point I still get excited about parkour in games (although I’m sure there will come a time when it’s completely overdone).

I think the parkour here has been done rather tastefully. Her technique looks pretty close to that required for the movements too. She even goes for a ‘safer’ one legged precision when taking leaps :D
Great job Ubi!

That isn’t game footage guys, it’s pre-rendered, just like the Red Steel 2 trailer.

Either BG&E2, or a refined Mirror’s Edge ripoff. =P
And there is no saying whether it is pre-rendered or not, without any announcement. If it is for a multi-platform title (which I believe BG&E2 is) then it seems a little too slick to be in-engine.
If it is an exclusive of a particular platform though, that could very well be scripted engine cutscene type stuff.
