Koei Tecmo Donates To Italian Earthquake Relief Effort

Earlier last month, a deadly earthquake rocked Italy’s mountainous Abruzzo region, killing hundreds and leaving tens of thousands homeless.

Koei Tecmo Holdings, makers of Dynasty Warriors and Dead or Alive, and connected company staffers have pitched in and donated ¥3,470,000 (US$35,205) to the earthquake’s relief effort. Every bit helps.

    A wild Italy appeared!

That's mighty nice of ya, Koei Tecmo. Most of my fellow Italians don't know who you are, but they thank you nonetheless.

@Ironfistchinmi: I wouldn't go that far: at least, Berlusconi is only harmful on the domestic front. He's moron, yes, but a mostly harmless one. Luckily for everyone, he doesn't have enough power on the international stage to do much damage.

His latest brilliant idea was to host the G8 summit in the region hit by the earthquake, thus spending much more money - money that, of course, could have gone towards the relief effort... But why bother with efficiency when you can make empty gestures?

I'd like to stress that there's a whole lot of Italians (albeit still a minority) who are mortally embarrassed by that clown. Please don't judge us based on him!

@tokugawa: That guy is a massive joke. Some of his actions make Bush look like a great world leader.

I'm surprised, I wouldn't think they would be in the financial position to just be able to give money away. This is very generous of them considering they aren't really a super corporation.

@Combine: Sounds like an idea Berlusconi (the italian prime minister) would have.

He seriously said some stupid stuff like "Oh, so all the homeless can now feel like they're on a camping tour" right after the earthquake.

They have to clone Itagaki first...

Nice. I'm italian, not from Abruzzo, but thanks, really.

There's a joke about Big Breasts in here somewhere...

  • Combine

Thats awfully kind of them. Its not every day you hear about a japanese game company donating money to an Italian earthquake relief effort.
They should also send some figurines with large breasts to take everyones minds off the disaster for a while too.
What relief worker couldn't do without a figurine of Ayane in a schoolgirl outfit?

    Italy uses earthquake!
    It's super effective!

    sorry, I'll let myself out.

  • Mister Adequate

    That was decent of them.

  • Deathbearer

Video game companies help save the day yet again. It's very generous of them to donate money, even if it is just for good PR.

@Antiterra: Eh. He's a clown... Nothing more and most definitely nothing less.

A rich clown, but a clown

Every bit DOES help. With the pope sending not a single penny (you'd think he'd be generous since we Italians have been literally hosting him and his friends for the past couple of centuries) it's nice to see the gaming industry do something.

From an Italian and his friends, thank you :D

@SENKOBEAN: Uhm... Some dear friends of mine lost their homes.. I don't think that's very funny at all.. : /

  • 0xC001D00D

@Ironfistchinmi: I know :( I'm italian and i'm ashamed every day with the whole world for him.
Also no, Berlusconi is not harmless at all, he's ruining Italy like never before (yes, never, maybe even Mussolini)

  • Miaku

It's nice to hear something good about big companies once and a while. Kudos to Koei Tecmo.
