More Saints Row 2 DLC Escapes From Busey’s Teeth

But yeah, brilliant news, one of the most surprising games I've ever played. I expected nothing and got a chainsaw wielding Hot Dog, how could I complain?

@yoshi8710: The game is fun actually. Like a goofy B movie GTA. It's hillarious on the character editor. I had fun watching someone else play! The game is a good one if you can find it for like 15, 20 bucks.

@undefined: I loved SR2 so much that after I beat everything, I needed more. So I picked up the first game, and yeah, there is a huge difference. The first game was much more "stiff" and the activities were not near the scale they are now. On top of that, your character never even spoke in the first game, so he had zero personality, whereas my english-accented mass murderer has extreme personality. Simply put, SR2 is not "the same as the first one".

Nothing for PC? Oh well, I guess I'll just go over to my little corner.

The last batch of DLC was a bit overpriced but anything that adds to the game is good. Seriously though, lots of hype behind 3 missions with Tera Patrick? Well she is beautiful. I wonder what new weapons and vehicles this DLC will have. I want more! Its also nice there is more content coming and that it was announced so soon.

@Hey_Blinkon: GTA took a lot from Saint's Row. Saint's Row only took the open world and the gist of blowing everything up.

I picked up the last DLC pack for the 360, and the slightly overpriced three missions or so was alright for two hours worth of play. Unfortunately, My co-op partner and I got about 45 minutes. There was nothing very fun about it, either.

I highly recommend the game itself, very very good. DLC? For the money you get less than an hour of new material, and some of the crappiest voice acting to date. Avoid it.

@surft: Well, yeah, I'd say it definately took a lot from GTA. But it was very well done, and different enough to be it's own game. I liked it better than GTA IV.

GTA IV is like going to a museum. You take in a lot of sights, you feel smarter having experienced it and theres lots of great things to see and do.

Saints Row 2 is like hijacking a bulldozer and plowing right through that fucking museum. And running over a few people along the way, shoutin "YEEFUCKIN HAW!".

I appreciate a museum visit more, but I'd be lying if I didn't say the latter was more fun (I'm assuming, of course).

Yes GTAIV's story was good but after you got done there were only a few things that you could do. I still missed taking patients in the Ambulance or putting out fires with the Firetruck. That is what was awesome about GTA:SA.

How about a patch for PS3 trophies?

You can't really tell which is better judging at what they each do because that's a matter of taste, you can only judge them by what they accomplished and GTA IV is a game that accomplished a lot more than Saints Row 2 did.

For the love of god, just let me take over that damn Ultor 'white' territory and finally turn my whole map purple.

I wish they'd throw in new gangs and a new island for the single-player game. Multiplayer is terrible, from my own experience. The first DLC had some niceties to it - the EDF suit/armored car and the A10 Thunderbolt - but the missions weren't very exciting, even on 'hardcore' difficulty. Maybe I'm expecting too much from the DLC since I enjoy the core game so much...

GTAIV's story was awesome. None of the other GTA's captured my interest more than IV.

I liked the game, unfortunately Saints Row 2 will be always be branded as a game capitalizing on GTA's popularity,and the DLC will not change that. :(

@yoshi8710: I had fun with it, it's ridiculously over the top, in a good way. The customization options are awesome, way more in depth than GTA IV (though I liked GTA better overall). I think it's gone down in price, too, seems like Best Buy had it for $39.

@Bernoulli: Word to both. If you're not into multiplayer with SR2, the DLC can be a real bust. A few new vehicles and multiplayer maps aren't high on my list of 'want to have' for SR2 DLC.

@Cpt. Overkill: If you enjoy a good story GTA4 is the last place you'd find it aswell.

Its too bad the DLC didn't come out months ago, when I was still playing Saints Row 2. I don't think I could convince my friends to buy it and the DLC after we already beat it twice. (they rented it)

Is this game worth buying? I keep hearing good things about it but I'm still not sure...

On the topic of DLC, its always nice to see publishers actually taking care of their games after they are released.

@Bernoulli: Agreed on both points. Definitely a surprise for me when I picked it up a few months back. Not really into the whole "Gangsta" theme, but it wasn't as important as I thought it would be, and the game has some of the most genuinely funny moments I've seen in any game.

But, yeah...first DLC was lame.

I thought this was one of the best games from last year, specifically for the co-op. Much to my surprise to, I had no intention of ever getting the game but then I came home and my brother had purchased it for me as an impromptu birthday gift (he wanted to play it but didn't have an xbox)

The first DLC however was a huge ripoff, agh!

I enjoyed the game alot more then GTA4. Yes the SR2 did have its flaws, but it was exactly what I wanted in a sandbox game.

I feel a little burned by the last DLC, while I love the game, $10 for 3 short missions was a bit overpriced.

@Komrade Kayce: I'll admit, that's one of the best comparisons between the two games.

And I'll admit, after I got bored of the museum of GTA4(which happened far too early for me), I went straight for that bulldozer of SR2.

@yoshi8710: I can honestly say it was my favorite co-op game last year, my girlfriend and I played through it, then I played through again with my brother.

Single player may be a different experience, but if you have someone to play through it with, DO IT!

Roughly put, it's about a guy who doesn't want to kill who goes around town killing everybody he can with zero questions asked.

@MtlAngelus: GTA4's and Saints Row 2's stories should not even be comparable. GTA4 did not 'accomplish a lot more than Saints Row 2 did'. It sold more copies. That's not 'a lot of accomplishments'. For an established franchise with a reputation for netting record-setting sales figures, that's not impressive. While in a technical sense GTA4 is the newest and most advanced of the series, it's also a step back in terms of gameplay. While it added duck-and-cover controls, its controls were also 'boxy' and slow.

So while you CAN argue that GTA4 is more SUCCESSFUL than Saints Row 2, you can not argue that it ACCOMPLISHES more, as the games have an entirely different setting and appeal to different mindsets. I for one can have heaps of fun in Saints Row 2, while only having mild fun in GTA4. Those are my opinions, and while you are entitled to yours, I should hope that anyone that's played both games extensively (like myself) would realize that Saints Row 2 is absolutely a step-up in sandbox games, and needs to have more studios following ITS examples, rather than GTA's.

@Interim: SR2 may be more fun(that varies by taste), but it's not as impressive in terms of art, technology and writing as GTA IV.

@MtlAngelus: I disagree. The writing in SR2 may be 'low brow', but I believe the fact that it stays completely true to itself, while GTA4 cannot decide what message it wants you to receive, allows Saints Row 2 to sit very comfortably at the top of sandbox games-- at least in the sense of enjoyment, which is why most of us play games.

Interim

Based on the fact that the last DLC made multiple references to them supposedly working on mining technology for Mars, I'm gonna guess that this one will somehow make it more obvious that the Ultor in SR is supposed to be the same Ultor from Red Faction.

From easter egg to plot element that could link two completely unrelated games.
