Finally someone listens. I dont want a TMNT smash bros, I wanted this, a Turtles in Time remake

holy crap this is like my favorite TMNT game!

holy crap this is pretty awesome stuff. they better release this, and add some cel shading to it. i dont mind when classic 2d games get 2.5D remakes, but i feel as though somethings missing if its not cel shaded. and ubisoft already has proven themselves to be some good cel shaders with prince of persia, XIII, and the naruto games on 360.

hopefully, capcom, sega, and konami will get a clue and think about releasing beat em ups at least on download services these days. licensed games were never so good man.. x-men, ninja turtles, simpsons, bucky o'hare, punisher, spiderman (sega arcade), alien vs predator, cadillacs and dinosaurs, hook, asterix, and probably a few others i cant recall had some excellent coin-op beat em ups. that was the era...

Hands down BEST BEAT 'EM UP EVER! I'm hoping the music stays as close as possible to the original!!!

I remember playing this game with my friend when we were little an shouting "COWABUNGA!" and high-fiving after every level. Needless to say, we annoyed everyone around us :P

That's awesome you still have the cartridge. Never had a SNES, or I would have had the game. Though, I did just get TMNT 2 for NES--somehow I had the original and Manhattan Project, but not the arcade game.

@BassForever: I used to play with my mom every day after school. It's easily one of my favorite childhood games.

If this does turn out to be a 360 only release I'll finally have a reason to play my Xbox again. Kinda looking forward to that.

Dunno what to think about this, a 2D HD remix with many new animations would have been way nicer in this case i think.
I mean most of the fun in this game came from the hilarious animations and especially the face expressions.
That doesn´t port tha well to 3d

shooting fluids in to your thumb would be excruciatingly painful... i mean its really up there. especially with all the bad drugs in there that irritate. there is a vein coming up your thumb-knuckle thing though that is perfect for that sort of thing..... oh wait, this is not video games. got off track.

I played Turtles in time for the ...... time a few weeks ago, and I can honestly say that it doesn't get any better than that! It's the perfect TMNTgame!

Are they going to keep the things that made it so special? Like falling into an open sewerwent and having a textbubble reading "It's creepy down here"? if you step on the purple things during the SEWER SURFIN' will they still go "MY TOE! MY TOE!"? will they change the audio? will they change the speed? can you still throw enemies towards the screen (ok, kind of obvious considering the shredder bossfight)but will it feel as awesome? Will Pizza Power be there?

This will be interesting, but I highly doubt it will be as charming as the original.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to eat a Turtles ice-cream.

There is an arcade downtown that has the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games running. I've wasted so many quarters there, nothing beats a classic beat-em-up.

This is pretty awesome news. I just hope they don's mess it up, but if it's got as much effort put into it as Bionic Commando Rearmed, it should be pretty sweet.

i really love the graphics and art of the original Konami versions. but i'm glad they picked a fan favorite to remake. hopefully this makes up for the last crappy turtles game that Ubisoft released...

@Alex_Mexico: The NES games will always be the best. Arcade games are designed to steal quarters. Years later you play those arcade games on MAME and you realize that the game isnt as well designed as the console ports. (At least for every TMNT game) Also, arcade games are always short. The console versions usually add extra levels and variety.

I love this game so much that just this year I went throught the trouble of assembling a functional SNES out of a couple of broken ones I had laying around, just to play my old TMNT IV cart again.

But a remake? Wow, just wow...

Turtles in Time isnt for hardcore TMNT fans. That game was so easy I beat it on my first try (on the hardest setting, too). The NES Ninja Turtles games are for the hardcore players.

this was the first game i actually recall coming up with a strategy to beat. my brother and i planned who would get which pizzas, and when. and we knew he was better on the train and i was better on the end level with shredder, so if we ever had spare continues, we'd sacrifice it to get the other back in the game.

I dunno, they'd have to add a load of stuff for this to compete with Castle Crashers. I liked it and all, but at this day and age we expect a lot of replayability from any game.

@laser beams: Turtles in Time is so terrible. Lesson no. 2 of why not to buy arcade boards on nostalgia alone for me, the first being Gunforce. Turtles in Time has such a crappy plot even for a game based on talking turtles. I hate how random the levels and bosses are in the game. It all seems so pointless and dumb. The first one is the best thanks to better levels, music, and bosses, even with the Shredder's cheap beam attack.

@Shandy706: Uh, no. I own every console and handheld on the market and I've had my 360 since launch. I just spent $200 on another system since my original red ringed just outside of the warranty. Between my PC and PS3, the only reason I still have my 360 is for JRPG's, Dead Rising, and Gears.

Please be true please be true. I used to play TMNT 2 and 3 on NES for hours and hours. A similar game with updated graphics would make my month.

This was the second TMNT arcade game correct? I didn't know "Turtles in Time" was on the XBLA. I thought just the first one was. To bad it is for the Virtual world. I think this remake would have been a nice addition to "EVERY MOVIE THEATER" in the country. Seriously they need to dump all those Late 90's Midway arcade games that are still hanging around.

I feel like past discussions on Kotaku are enough to show that I've played several games on the system as well. Lost Odyssey is one of my favorite RPG's this gen across all systems, including handhelds.

No clue on what sorta licensing issues accompany some of Konami's old beat-em-ups, but in a perfect world we'd see HD remakes of all those old sidescrollers, preferably in one collection. Simpsons, X-Men, Turtles, Aliens Vs Predator... those quartermunchers were so awesome.

Please learn the difference. Turtles in time is one of the best beat 'em ups the world had and has to offer.
