Terminator Salvation Machinima Delivers Six-Part Series

Terminator Salvation: The Machinima series uses footage from Terminator Salvation the video game to tell the story of pilot Blair Williams and how she joined the resistance years before the events of the movie.

Actress Moon Bloodgood will voice Williams in the six-part series.

“From a film maker’s point of view, Machinima provides an incredibly dynamic way to explore live worlds and tell compelling new stories,” said McG, director of Terminator Salvation. “The process allows the writer and director to think cinematically, while at the same time executing certain things that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive or even impossible on a set.”

The series is available on iTunes, Amazon Video on Demand, Xbox Live and Playstation Network for $US3 an HD episode or $US2 an SD episode. You can also sign up for a season pass for $US15 for HD or $US10 for SD.

“Working with The Halcyon Company’s motion picture development team and having produced a high-octane, story driven action shooter videogame using Grin AB’s cutting edge ‘Diesel’ engine, we had an incredible basis to further explore stories set in the Terminator universe,” said Cos Lazouras, president of Halcyon Games, creator of the “Terminator Salvation” videogame. “Re-purposing our game to produce the very first dramatic series in this medium is a fantastic innovation and will become the norm for game makers in the future.”

The series kicks off in 2016 with Blair sent into downtown LA to find and destroy something called The Ghost.

YAY! I can't WAIT to pay for an animated 3D ADVERTISEMENT!

@Komrade Kayce - Soviet Attack Dog: Hey, yeah I remember that. McG was spouting off about how hot Bloodgood's jubblies were and that we'd see them in the new movie (I believe it was at ComicCon, I don't remember exactly). That filthy liar. Unrated directors cut please!

  • -MasterDex-

@McDollar: I had heard that alright. I was tempted to buy it since I'm a big Terminator fan but the reviews shat on it across the board. I guess we'll never see a terminator game live up to the greatness of the megadrive ones.

I loved the movie. I thought it was great. I feel nostalgia wont allow people to enjoy it or simply the fact that people like to hate lol. I dont know what else people were expecting fromthis chapter in the film. SPOILER not to mention that the arnold cgi looked awesome END SPOILER this was a great action chapter and set up film. Look forward to the blu ray

@Rompehamster: Nope, but it'll run screaming at the sight of a dry ice sculpture.

Ugh. The movie was abysmally bad (it made 300 look like it had substance) and the wooden acting actually made the robot the most endearing cast member.

I'm with the above poster: they canceled The Sarah Chronicles in favour of keeping that god-awful abortion of a show "Dollhouse" on the air?

Well, TSCC ignored the 3rd Terminator movie and was actually decent. "Salvation" appears to have kept T3: Rise of the Machines as part of their canon and look how well that worked out.

The Terminator franchise and I are done professionally.

@NaeemTHM: because you enjoyed it, they will continue producing bad written movies, please don't condone poor job, especially when you see it's incompetence.

  • Gein07

Anyone else think she looks like Sigourney Weaver? Time for an aliens reboot!

  • McDollar

    @-MasterDex-:

+1, i guess i used the wrong terminology. the game controls and plays exactly like gears of war... minus the fun.

  • Rompehamster

    @NaeemTHM:

    T-1000>T-800

T-1000 is a more efficient killing machine.

While a T-800 would simply shoot you dead, a T-1000 would gruesomely impale your face. You can simply run away from a T-800 since they can't run for shit, but a T-1000 will and can chase you at an alarming speed. A T-800 can be destroyed with enough firepower, but a T-1000 can't be destroyed with firearms.

  • RuthLoose

@GreyFoxV1: I hear that. I somehow like Terminator 3 more than T4. Call me a Claire Danes fanboy.

  • GreyFoxV1

The machinima is probably going to be better then the actual movie.

@Rompehamster: Hey, as far as I'm concerned, the Terminator series DID end with T2. Everything else has been apocrypha.

I did see Salvation over the weekend, and wow, Moon Bloodgood can't act.

  • NaeemTHM

    @Rompehamster:

"I mean nothing is more menacing or scary than the T-1000."

Oh I don't know...I'd shit my fucking pants if a T-800 came to my door.

Plus there's something about the walking indestructible skeletons that's downright frightening.

  • -MasterDex-

@McDollar: I'll give you props for the Cashhern avatar but - "the game's engine is a poor man's Unreal Engine 3"

  • NaeemTHM

I know I'm probably alone here but, I totally enjoyed the hell out of that movie. Sure it had HUGE plot holes and horrid dialog, but I liked it way more than Terminator 3 (which I'm 90% certain was a spoof of the Terminator franchise).

I'm not saying Salvation was even close to Terminator 1 and 2, but it was a nice summer blockbuster and I don't think it deserves all the hate it's been receiving.

    ***SPOILERS BELOW!!***

WTF at the plot holes?! First we learn that the machines can hear a pin drop form a mile a way, then we see Bale and crew WREAK A FOREST with out a care in the world. That aside the ending heart transplant REALLY pissed me off. Never mind the fact that their all in a desert with sand blowing all over the damn place, what are the chances this robo-dude has the same blood type as Connor? Did these guys even review the damn script before writing?

    ***END SPOLIERS***

Believe it or not that aside I still give this movie a solid 7. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved the last battle scene.

After watching Salvation, i really thought to myself that the Terminator series should've ended with T2.

I mean nothing is more menacing or scary than the T-1000. As i recall, that thing traumatized a couple of kids back in the day. It could create stabbing weapons, it can turn into liquidmetal and it can take a barrage of bullets without sustaining any damage. Scary indeed.

Hell, it scared Wayne & Garth shitless.

  • yutaro

Part of the reason I watch machinima is because it's made by people who don't have any interests in squeezing money out of their audience.
If I pay for stuff like this I expect the moviemakers to make use of realtime CG engines powered by super computers, not what I as a consumer already own.

  • Gray665

Moon Bloodgood...quite possibly the coolest name ever. McG on the other hand...

    Gray665

  • McDollar

the game's engine is a poor man's gears of war with the graphics of a b-list playstation 2 game. her voice work is mediocre at best, much like her acting in the movie.

    an easy pass.

  • -MasterDex-

@Komrade Kayce - Soviet Attack Dog: It does make one sick, alright. Hopefully, the DVD/BR release will see us getting an uncut, unedited version.

    @-MasterDex-:

    The More You Know:

She had a topless scene in the new terminator movie that was left on the cutting room floor, along with everything else that made it too mature (rated R) for the kid friendly (PG-13) audience they ended up targeting it at.

I mean, the movie was kinda crap anyways, and I knew the PG-13 rating was going to hurt a TERMINATOR movie, but after I found out that they were cutting shit left right and center from an R movie in order to make it PG, UGH.

  • Orionz Dream

@-MasterDex-: Im so ticked that the this show was kicked. After seeing the movie im even more ticked.

@Sylar will take the power from Crecente's hair:

A 3rd and Final Season would have been perfect to wrap everything up for TSCC.

For-pay machinima made with a poorly reviewed game based on a horribly reviewed movie is one of the dumbest products I can imagine.

If they mean the game's actual engine, it was anything but cutting edge

  • Sylar will take the power from C

@-MasterDex-: WHAT!!?! Terminator was canned. FUCK YOU FOX. well at least I still have Heroes.

  • Antiterra

If we're supposed to pay for these, shouldn't they have a little more... I don't know, pizazz? 'Cos it sure sounds like they're selling in-engine cutscenes.
...And we're not talking about Squeenix-grade FMVs, but character models and assets from a critically-panned game...

    @TakizawaAkira: MasterDex!!!

WHat was the point of this again?

    takizawa!

  • -MasterDex-

Cool. Moon Bloodgood is a hotty too and you can definitely see her resembelance in Williams.

Now, if only Fox would take TSCC out of the bin and give us season 3. It's such a shame that a show like TSCC got canned while Dollhouse got picked up for a second season.

    -MasterDex-

  • FlagshipFighter

Does this use the same engine from Wanted: Weapons of Fate?

  • PaxtonAstypalaea

@-MasterDex-: Actually, you should have said "Master!", same way if I was continuing thia trend I would say " Paxton!". As to your question, as far as I can tell, none, so let's change the topic back to the actual topic. Hmmmmmmmm.... I like Red Vs Blue. "...So... that makes you a Gay Robot..."
