These Guys Take Mirror’s Edge Cosplay Seriously
While cosplay can often be an amatuer, stinky affair, sometimes people put a little more effort into it. This gallery – of some Mirror’s Edge cosplay – is one of those times.
The work of Jesse James Allen and his crew, it shows Faith (played by Yen Ryder) doing the kind of thing she does best, in the kind of places she likes to be seen.
While some of the shots in the gallery are a little cheesy, others restrain themselves enough to bring a little light to our dreary Monday morning.

All the cosplay the game needs. Maybe cosaction? I dunno.
@DariusEnigma: So true. That kind of put me off a little.
@Ghede: thanks for clearing that up.
@foppemoa: agreed. im tempted to repost some of these on 4chan with wacky captions added....for the lulz
It's alright! they should of went with a more real look then the video game look! That's what made the latest Batman movie sick!
DePalo
@foppemoa: yeah..coulda been better. i would've been more please w/guys in wigs in a parkour video

Yeah, this is the second cosplay photoshoot today that has the same issue, the "action" shots are just somewhat dull feeling because they are just static poses - which makes the photography seem kind of amateurish to me. You CAN fake action without actually hitting someone, though it may result in accidentally hitting someone once in a while, haha.
kaubuchon
Faith boobs are not huge, so why would you need to photoshop it?
Very cool.
Illist
Stinky affair? Let's not go too far.
As for these, they're all right, considering its a fairly simple costume.

@mikeck:
Only as realistic as being unable to extend your grasp an extra inch to compensate for not being dead center with whatever object your trying to grab.
Maybe it's the red that's messing her up...
DariusEnigma
wish they were available in higher res, some shots would make great wallpapers. :)
curly haired boy
Horrible trigger discipline in this picture. Hardly anyone gets it right.

The hand-wall-face-kick pose was good. And i'm wondering.. do these people rent the cop-costumes or did they buy it for the sake of this photoshoot.. I mean really, if u can convince 5 guys to buy expensive suits for a single shoot, you could sell a fridge to a polar bear. Themz some mad 'vincing skillz
*stirs tea*
I recognize that parking garage. It's by the Burger King (or did they move) headquarter building.
@stupid_mcgee: uber pyro > zerg rush:
Not to be pedantic...but the red objects aren't really red, they just look that way to you as the gamer, to highlight that Faith sees the world as things she's able to clamber over, therefore it's more realistic for them not to be red, surely? :P
Cosplaying: Serious Business
Sebnotic Is Serious Business
Her eyes are too slanty and her boobs are too flat! Quick, photoshoppers, fix this monstrosity!
And yes, that is very, very sarcastic.
MechaTama31
@Kensukevic: kind of hard to do without getting hurt.. (unless you know what you're doing...)
@Kobun: I would really like to pull this photographer aside and explain the values of masking. Simply plastering Diffuse Glow over everything really looks unprofessional. It's like Photoshop noob mistake 101.
Strange that they focus so much on her fighting police and so little on her actually traversing, which I understand was kind of the focus of the game.
Kensukevic
"Like this?"
"Great! But can you squint a bit more?"
"Okay."
"More please."
"This good?"
"Just close your eyes."
"..."
"Perfect!" (snap!)

@3o01: Yeah, but kinda BS. I'm pretty sure he Photoshopped Faith onto the mask. There's no distortion in her reflection, which would happen due to the curvature of the material. This guy might be a good photographer, but his Photoshop skills are pretty dismal.
They cheated with that pic a bit, it isn't as dangerous as it looks. She is actually jumping backwards onto the roof from the ground.
See, don't get fooled by those fancy camera tricks.
...
@DariusEnigma: Yeah, really. I mean, if the guy is going to put in Photoshop effects and such, why not use Photoshop to do some colorization?
Should do one of those head cam shots.
kitsuneconundrum
Fail for lack of bright red objects.

@D3m0n1k_Ang3l: Haha. I was wondering how you didn't know what I was talking about when it was right there.
I've seen better cosplay of it - posted on this site, funnily enough - but this is indeed a very good shoot.
The Airstrike [www.flickr.com] is amazing.
Not bad. Some of the shots are a bit overly Photoshopped with the use of the Diffuse Glow filter, but most are pretty good.
I really liked the shot of Faith being reflected in the SWAT guy's gasmask.
@D3m0n1k_Ang3l: nvm, all i had to do was look a couple posts down XD
@Jambi_Bum: Silent Hill cosplay? link? lol
ugh, the "combat poses" made my eyes roll around for a bit.
It's been a good couple of days for cosplay. With this and the Silent Hill group. We need more things like these.
I could be wrong but the Leap of Faith jump looks short.....I wonder if she made it..........Neo didn't the first time.
@Jesse Mrozowski: I've had similar feelings about seeing people in movies hold their pistols right up to their heads to get good close-ups, but then I thought, do I actually want the masses to be properly trained in how to handle weapons? I mean, most people will not ever use a gun to shoot people, so if small-time criminals that possess fire-arms feel comfortable aiming their pistol sideways, that's fine by me.
@Jambi_Bum: "We need more things like these."
Working on it. But don't hold your breath just yet.
@DariusEnigma: Only if she was going to vault up somewhere.
CosmicElement
I'll be willing to be a zombie in a Dead Rising cosplay. Flesh, anyone?
@Etheris: You've got a point there that I never really considered. I'd rather be in a gun fight with someone that doesn't know how to properly operate their firearm. If they pull this maneuver with their finger firmly planted on the trigger then there's a very good chance they will shoot themselves, which is ok with me.
Still it does take me out of the movie/tv show a bit when an FBI agent who was theoretically trained to use a gun is doing so incorrectly.
"Weh...weh...she doesn't look Asian enough!"
kiddoblivion
Damn that chick is gorgeous.
Tom-Servo
@Jesse Mrozowski:
Yeah, but that strikes me as fairly accurate to the game. I mean, these are heavily armed guards who are all easily disarmed by a completely unarmed woman, despite her being outnumbered 4 or 5 to 1. I really wouldn't have much faith in their training.

@SS Ymer:
He's holding the camera and doing that!?! Insanely cool!
Nice, more cosplay please !

@mikeck is too orangey for crows:
Still, the red is a defining aspect of the game's visual design. No having it in these shots does make them seem to miss something. They're also missing the blues, yellows, and the occasional red that wasn't part of the "runner's vision".

@stupid_mcgee: uber pyro > zerg rush:
Yeah, that was pretty cool.
I was a bit disappointed about the lack of color, though. Everything was very muted in its color palette - where are all the vibrant reds, blues, and yellows? That was one of the high points in the game's design; despite the brutally linear levels and boring cutscene animation, the visual design was one of the best, most innovative parts of the game.
