These are the type of stories a site like IGN and Gamestop hate. They go by the rules and wait for official clips. Kotaku can post any news it wants. That's what I love about them. As for the game. It looks awesome. I just hope it includes the Arcade original.

@cinemandrew: I actually got a used one from an arcade in Royal Oak, MI for $600. Money well spent, as any of those Konami multiplayers can be swapped into the same cabinet. COWboys of Moo Mesa, X-Men, TMNT, etc.

the thing that i find truly amazing about this is the fact that the target audience is well into their 20's.

then again i guess today's kiddies can come along for the ride too, since all the american cartoons these days want so desperately to rip off of anime yet fail miserably at providing anything nearly as gripping or appealing to the eyes.

Cool, the beat'em up genre needs more lovin'. But with this version of TMNT:Turtles in Time, is there a chance the SNES version will be on the VC? If not I'm going to be pretty bummed.

@W10002: It also made a lot more sense having shredder banish you through time for invading the technodrome rather than randomly out of no where in the sewer stage.

Also means no Rat King boss fight in the sewer stage either.

@Snappywave needs subtitle option to enjoy games.: I dunno. The truth is that the old school TMNT Arcade re-release was under whelming for me.

Arcade style gameplay (unfair quarter crunching made to take money) does not translate well to the home console. You just kept continuing till you won (for free!). Not much gameplay involved in that.

A re-make will create more of a game out of it. Which is what I am interested in.

I am so sick of people whining about a new installment "ruining" their childhood dreams. Shut the hell up. Your classic games are still around, and you can go play them at any freaking time. You know what would really "ruin" things for you, if they gathered all of the games from the past and burned them. That would "ruin" things for you.

@PerswAsian: I think this is a remake of the arcade version, and not the SNES version. I grew up with the SNES version so I was just assuming the difference was because it was the one I wasn't used to.

man i hope important people at capcom, sega, and konami lurk our favorite blog and read our murmurs. see guys, you can still make beat em ups.. oh and this is why we have services like psn, wiiware, and xbox live arcade... to keep the classics alive/bring them to a new generation.

please let this be the beginning of the rebirth of the classic beat em up. hey sega.. streets of rage 4, cel shaded, yuzo koshiro, sega am 1.. do it.

I hope that's a beta as the explosions look worse than something you would see on an episode of ATHF.

The more I think about it, the more I realize how "lazy" of a project the 3d conversion of this game is. You have 4 turtles, which would be the EXACT SAME MODELS, only re-skinned and then 80-90% of the enemies are foot soldiers, whcih again are the EXACT SAME MODELS, only re-skinned. So really a decent animation team is all they would need.

@SPECIALciaNAPKIN: I love the PSN exclusives as there are many original new games; Pixeljunk games and Fat Princess come to mind.
XBLA games seem to consist of a lot of remakes.
Nonetheless, I'm glad when games are multiplatform so more people can enjoy them

@SocraticMethod: I was thinking the same thing about the gameplay. It looks like they tried to make the animations the same speed as the original, but it just doesn't work with a 3-D character. I guess it's kinda reassuring to see how closely it matches the original. It makes me wonder if their plan is basically just re-skin the old game. I don't know if I'd love that, or hate it.

It's just that I am a huge retro-buff, and Live Arcade is getting all the old games.

Seeing how the Skull and Crossbones does not feature Bebop and Rocksteady, I'm assuming this version of Turtles in Time is a remake of the Arcade version instead of the SNES version. Personally I loved the SNES better, because it had Bebop and Rocksteady, and has a whole new extra level that was not found in the arcade version.

@PerswAsian: Pretty sure the SNES version had added levels. The arcade version had you randomly timewarp from the sewer while I think the SNES version had something more interesting. I want to say the whole Tokka and Razar thing was added in the SNES version.

They didn't take any stages out though. In fact, the console version has MORE stages than the arcade original.

So who do I have to talk to in order to get an untouched re-release of The Simpsons arcade game? I remember many days wasted on that game.

Including the epic day that me and three friends played through the whole game start to finish. Full Simpson family gameplay + all available combo attacks FTW!

These 90's smash-up brawlers have been ignored for too long, many of them never getting proper home releases even in their heyday. Live Arcade is the PERFECT place to port all of them....remaking isn't even needed, just pop 'em over as-is.

I'll add Sunset Riders, Captain America and the Avengers, and Aliens vs. Predator to your list. Maybe more of the Final Fight and Double Dragon series too....I love these side-scrolling brawlers and we just don't see these games being made much anymore, Castle Crashers excepted.

As someone who played the game regularly for 10 years or so, I can't say I like how they are destroying the gameplay and the humor by making the game 3D. Beat em ups on a 2D plain should not have the option to run into the camera. they are up and down left and right but always facing left or right. And the lack of the exaggeration from the old game is much missed.

At this point, I'm not buying unless it's 5 bucks.

I'm apprehensive. I think the original doesn't need to be remade, at all....it could just be ported over as-is. That said, I'm eager to see the remake. I think my main concern is that it will suck, and we'll never get the original.....but hey, I've lived without playing the original for long enough that I'm willing to roll with this gamble. A remake could pay off.

This is awesome, though I do wish it was Turtles II (The Arcade Game) rather than TurtlesIV, but IV is an exceptional side-scrolling game on its own.

No way I'll buy this after my disappointment at TMNT Arcade. The biggest waste of my MS Points ever.

In this case, I think the 3D remake is a bit unnecessary. Just give me the SNES game and I'd be happy. Not that I'm complaining... I'm happy to see this game getting some love.

Now we need to make an HD Vanilla Ice singing "go ninja, go ninja, go!" throughout the game and my Turtles nostalgia will be complete.

There's nothing more irritating than watching a good game being controlled by someone who plays games like they're 5.

As much as I am excited for this, I couldn't concentrate on it because I really can't believe how non shaky his recording was from his cell.

This needs Classic Mode BADLY or I probably won't even bother with it. The original still looks just fine and the music is some of the best ever. From what I can tell, both have been changed and not for the better.

Seem a little fast on my part...but hopefully they'll be other characters we can play as!!

Redrawn sprites similar to Guilty Gear or KoF XIII quality with smoother animations. 3D has come a long way over the years but there's still a bit more character to hand-drawn sprites.

@Foggen: Yeah there were some weird differences. Like instead of fighting slash you fought a giant blob.... One of my buddies has the upright cabinet of this game but i still prefer the snes version over it.... Sigh now i'll probably be disappointed with this version

@jcb231: I'll toss in Cowboys of Moo Mesa for good measure. It was actually more like Contra than a brawler, but it was multiplayer and if Konami still has the TMNT license, Cowboys I think should still be part of that.

Why in 3d? Im sorry but compared to the original arcade style game that looks like shit.

Part of the fun of the game was colorfull cartoony style graphics that made it like playing the cartoon. That just like well.....turtles in bland 3d. It has no flavor, nothing fun looking or unique.

I'm not liking this one bit. Original please.
