British Sales Charts

No family game fun times last week in the UK. No, last week, Britain was all about the face-punching.

Fight Night Round 4 debuted atop the charts, 360 at #1, PS3 at #2. The boxing game’s strong opening week means EA replace Nintendo, if only briefly, as the dominant publisher in the country, with five of the top ten games having “Electronic Arts” somewhere on the box.

    @deanbmmv: Yeah that's the Sims 3 though, and it's a new release title. Give it a couple weeks, and all will return to normal.

  • Brmarlin

    @Kakuki: Because you didn't say anything to the OP, which is just as much of an opinion.

  • Doshu

    I can understand the 360 version of Prototype out-selling Infamous (install base, etc), but the PS3 version doesn't even rate in the top 100 titles on PS3 while Infamous is in the top 50.

    Obviously, most people in the UK don't read reviews.

    @Brmarlin:

    Why?

  • excel_excel

    @Vin Hill: ???

  • Oyn

    Ah, Ghostbuster still selling nicely. SCREW YOU ACTIVISION!

  • Eviltim

    Interesting to see that in Europe that Guitar Hero Smash Hits remained with the name Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits. I still think its weird to have a title that shortens to GH:GH.

    Eviltim

  • Vin Hill

    i hate living in this country, full of casual gamers. Epic fail.

  • jawshoeuh

    @Andrew Alexandrescu: yea, suck it, activision!

  • Marduk

    I'm so thrilled to se Monster Hunter Freedom Unite up there. Go my little MH!!!
    Too bad we don't get sales count with this charts, or do we?

    Marduk

  • deanbmmv

    @NoHoldsBarred: I wouldn't look at No 3 then....

  • optimusprym8

    am busy importing images of our MPs onto the opponents faces so I can batter them bloody and blue for all the expenses fiasco

  • NoHoldsBarred

    What the heck is that at 40? A PC title? What is that doing there? Shoo!

    NoHoldsBarred

  • NoHoldsBarred

    @Thomas Henry Ward: It's Sony exclusive in Europe. There was a Kotaku article about it.

  • phicaluk

    @FunkyMunxy: In the abscence of a game about expenses scandals, I say yes.

  • 2SBs

    @Flabyo: Yeah, not only that, but if there are some JRPG players like who didn't buy Tales because they haven't finished Star Ocean yet, 35th spot seems reasonable.

    2SBs

  • Brmarlin

    @Kakuki: Bit of a double standard, don't you think?

  • FunkyMunxy

    @Ironfistchinmi: I think you might be right there

    FunkyMunxy

  • Can I Really Be the Hero?

    @GimmeCat: Quite.

    Can I Really Be the Hero?

  • Ironfistchinmi

    @deanbmmv: This place is in Brixton.

    Ironfistchinmi

  • NicolasCage

    Say what you will about the British Isles, the countryside is undeniably enchanting.

  • deanbmmv

    @FunkyMunxy: Well I checked the images name n it's just "Garden Path.jpg" But some of the places look quiet nice. be nice to know if they were local.

  • FunkyMunxy

    @deanbmmv: To be fair I'm sure Luke has no idea exactly where this or any of the pictures were taken. As long as they're quintessentially British.

    FunkyMunxy

  • Kakuki

    @DwarfyP:
    = opinion

  • Kakuki

    @Ted:
    I agree. That's quite low.

  • WhatTheFrag

    @Ted: Well I'm thinking a lot of people are unsure of whether or not to buy it really. Considering N-B releases games a whole year later on the PS3 (also considering the JP release on the PS3 has additional content) and prolly a decent amount of fans of these games own both consoles and are 'undecided'.

  • deanbmmv

    @Thomas Henry Ward: And what other platform were you expecting?

  • Seniath

    Ouch, Spore: Galactic Adventures going in at #34. It's almost as if people got terribly burned by Spore...

    Seniath

  • Flabyo

    @Ted: I dunno, that's quite a high placing for a JRPG that isn't a Final Fantasy here in the UK.

  • deanbmmv

    @GimmeCat: It'd be nice if he told us where they were taken.

  • Ted

    Eesh, Vesperia opening at 35. I'm going to go ahead and say that delaying it a whole year didn't help.

  • DwarfyP

    @Muramasa: Prototype is way more fun than Infamous. Less constricting gameplay too.

    DwarfyP

  • FunkyMunxy

    @ThursdayNext: I see that, but I imagine Virtua Tennis 2009 will be up across every platform next week, and the week after if Murray progresses further

    FunkyMunxy

  • Thomas Henry Ward

    Oh look at that...Ghostbusters...for the PS3...

    Thomas Henry Ward

  • GimmeCat

    Lovely photo!

  • Muramasa

    Infamous still hanging onto the charts, nice.

    Sad to see the lesser rival (Prototype) at #5 though.

  • ThursdayNext

    @FunkyMunxy: There's already one in the top ten. If Murray wins, I expect it to go up.

    ThursdayNext

  • Zefir

    Nice to see Prototype doing well. Great game.

  • FunkyMunxy

    Next week: Tennis games?

    FunkyMunxy

  • Fordio

    almost looks like a respectable chart for once

  • Esper mind tricks

    Yup, Professor Layton is still selling and we are still waiting for the rest of the series to come out...

  • FannyRatLove

    Nice to see some good old violence back in the top ten, in keeping with our nation's 'colourful' (with two u's) history.

  • Celestial Panda

    I've gotta say that EA sports have really turned their colour around recently, creating some really good games. It's interesting that 4 out of 10 are EA Sport titles.
    Good on you EA. I'll see you again in September.

  • Andrew Alexandrescu

    Good for EA. Better then having Activision take the number one spot.
