Crysis 2 Is Announced, Multi-Platform

Crysis, the gorgeous sci-fi shooter from German developer Crytek Frankfurt, is a PC game. So is its sequel, Crysis 2 — that, and an Xbox 360 and a PS3 game.

The game is the second entry in the planned Crysis triology and will be published by EA. “The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it’s the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3.”

No word on a release date.

Does this mean that the graphics capabilites of Crysis2 on the 360 and ps3 be on Par with the PC (due to the same engine being used)

this is very bad news for PC users :<

    Umm like thank the lord!!

Now there is no reason to worry about all the spec’s of a PC to be able to play it properly on default settings.

I’m predicting a much better looking game on the PS3 (with Blu-ray and the power of the CryENGINEs) but i’ll be getting on the Xbox.

I still think they should port Crytek for consoles.

    • Ummm, blu-rays don’t make grahics quality better. The only reason blu-ray movies look nicer is they can fit more data on a blu-ray disk. Unless they can install a processing unit of some kind on a blu-ray, which i am pretty sure they can’t. It won’t look any better.

Sorry that sounded a bit arsey. But hay, its true.

  • Good news, because I had no intention of upgrading my PC for the original.

So does this mean Crysis 2 will look worse than the first one? I thought the consoles weren’t powerful enough for the original which is why it was PC only.

  • So much for being the flagship of hardcore PC (only) gaming :)

  • Bluray could in theory make the graphics better, more space for more less compressed textures and models.
