@aaj111: X3 is so complex it makes EVE look user friendly. I got the game on sale a year ago and have yet to find room in my brain for the controls.

I think Jumpgate will be move comparable to Freelancer.

@Sean Masters: EVE doesn't give you direct joystick control over your ship. Just saying.

@John_Norad: Oh I know but it still seems possible, especially if they have the epic battles against one of the less stellar backdrops. We'll see. I only wish they'd hurry up and give out the beta keys already.

This game looks like it would be hard. I tried playing X3 awhile back and I couldn't kill ships for nothing... I can only imagine how tough this is going to be.

I've just started playing Freelancer. This looks like it could continue my current interest in space-sims/fighters...

I don't take issue with the "look" of a trailer being more epic than a game or movie.

It's when the trailer describes events that will never happen in the game. I may be wrong as I've not closely followed Jumpgate but it is doubtful the following is true:

-Huge battles with hundreds of ships.

-Formations.. sure you will likely be able to "fly in formation" simply by doing so but do the rules of the game or the combat mechanics give any incentive to pilots for doing so?

- Any type of dramatic narrative or consequences within the gameworld for anything you do?

MMOs everywhere tout their stories and so far SWTOR and STO are the only two that seem to be making real strides. I have my doubts even about those games and how your own personal story will affect anything on a larger scale.

I just wish that someone would develop a game where the players were responsible for protecting their own capital cities to a degree. Some guards fine, infinitely respawning higher-than-level-cap guards..not fine.

Of course having no budget or deadline makes imagining such things a bit easier than making them happen! :)

The last little trilling sound reminded me of a very dainty rooster's cry. That alone makes me interested in this game, on TOP of all the crazy space action which always so intrigues me.

Several EVE Online trailers look like this, too. Just saying.

@-MasterDex-: In Eve, you select your target, the server does the math and tell you if you're still alive.

It's nothing like calculating the real-time, trajectory of the bazillion freely-aimed projectiles we see ni this trailer, to see if they hit or miss any of the quadragillion ships that fly around.

@John_Norad: While Eve doesn't have the free controls of Jumpgate, it has some epically large battles. I'm sure you'll be able to find videos somewhere.

I am so ready for this game and I truly hope everyone embraces it. There is a big hole in the space/fighter sim market right now and the only comparable products out there are EVE and X3, both of which are very economy/stat driven. We need something to make us crap in our G-suits with intense twitch based combat, and I believe it could be this game, if launched and supported correctly.

Gives me that Battlestar Galatica feeling inside. Kinda sounds like the opening credits of that show.

Is there any good gameplay video if this? Showing ACTUALL gameplay and not just movie fotage.

I have great hope and fear for this game... It's everything I want from an MMO, but there's no MMO on earth that could actually offer this fast paced frenzy action fest the trailers want us to believe in, due to the lag issues.

Sort of a OnLive feeling, if you will...
