Seems Xbox 360 owners love playing dress-ups with their avatar. Love it more than playing many best-selling games, in fact.
Every week Australia’s official Xbox blog, InsiderX, publishes the most popular Xbox 360 games for the past seven days. They track the number of unique users playing every 360 game while connected to Xbox Live, regardless of whether it’s a single-player or multiplayer game.
Usually it goes something like this:
ANZ Top Played Retail Games
1. Halo 3
2. Call of Duty: World at War
3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
4. Gears of War 2
5. Grand Theft Auto 4
6. Fallout 3
7. Guitar Hero World Tour
8. FIFA 09
9. Prototype
10. Halo Wars
But InsiderX let slip that if the NXE’s Avatar Editor was counted on this list, it would chart at #4. That means more of you decked out your avatar in some new threads this week than played Gears of War 2, GTA IV, Fallout 3 and many other high profile games.
I find this quite staggering. I think I’ve customised my avatar about three times since they launched last November. Am I missing out? How often do you spruce up your virtual wardrobe?

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 12:44 PMI change my outfit every month or so. I find it a bit of fun. I personally like to go with more of the formal attire; lounge suites, evening ‘going out’ wear etc. Omgz, just like for realz! Anyway, my guy does look like me too. I did, however, capitalise on The Lost & Damned outfit that came out with the release of the DLC. I looked like a prep college kid in biker gear. Amusing.
From memory, games may begin to offer unlockable outfits in the form of game achievements?
