Can't ask for a better release window for Sega. 2 weeks after Halo ODST, 1 month after and 1 month before the big RPG's of the fall (Marvel UA 2 and Dragon Age) and it's only competition the week it comes out are the basketball games (and they aren't selling to the same market usually.)

@godot: Pretty much. It's definitely a major change as far as the modern setting, but I'm hoping it's equally as deep as their fantasy games. The characters do seem a little ... lacking so far.

@simply_androoo: Gotta play it before judging. A lot of technical details are fixed up before the game goes gold, and usually left towards the end as far as the quality of things like textures are concerned. A lot of games look off at E3, but when the Fall rolls around, look great.

Can't wait to play Alpha Protocol!

Sweet; I can't wait. I hope the PC specs won't be too high (I just bought a new computer with a mid-profile card). That said, Batman AA has really low recommended specs, so maybe AP will optimize the Unreal engine. As much as I love my consoles, I'd rather play this game on my PC.

Hey, why's Robert Downey Jr. talking about this game and HOLY SHIT does that guy have really long fingers.

I remember seeing the E3 gameplay demo, and thinking that it looked like a steaming pile of shit. If there's a demo released, I'll give it a shot though.

Looks like a normal FPS with a little bit of dialog. Looking at what you can upgrade did not feel me with much hope, its guns, guns, guns, technical skills, and stealth. Nothing about dialog or intelligence. I do not know why they bother calling it an RPG, that's just buzzwords to sell the game.

@excel_excel: The dialog scenes do look reminiscent of Mass Effect, but the gameplay reminds me of Splinter Cell.

Can I Really Be the Hero?

I'm hoping this game is more branching paths and choose-your-own-playstyle a la Deus Ex and less mission-based sandbox gamestyle a la Grand Theft Auto.

When this game comes out, I'll be playing Bayonetta and waiting on Mass Effect 2, so I hope this game turns out well enough for me to warrant a purchase alongside these other games.

Mass Effect, and it's sequel in particular, definitely have a focus on action, though I would say its highlights are more with the dialog, the story, and the universe as a whole, whereas Alpha Protocol seems more driven by how you equip yourself for certain missions and certain combat scenarios.

Are the comparisons to Mass Effect warranted?? Seems a lot more action focused than ME though. Great trailer looks very impressive
